Nearly lost my front tooth playing footbag!

Post by Psilocybe »

Today starts like any other. I'm at my parents house, visiting them for mothers day and they drive me back home later in the afternoon. The first thing I do when I get home is footbag, of course.

Pretty good session. Hit blurriest first try. Got some smog and blenders in there. I was trying to concentrate on flipside atomic, mostly.

The very LAST move I tried - flipside FEAR. Lets just say I fucking fear this move now. Now, my flipside fairy is especially weak. This would be like my second time really giving it much attention. I rarely give fairy much attention on either side.

I'm exhausted, dyhydrated, fatigued, and its hot out. Plus im late on a date with my fiance. I have to hit this move! I tried fear once, missed it. Tried again, got closer. I'm gonna get it this time.......

BANG!! I feel a sharp pain in my front teeth and know exactly what happened. I fucking kneed myself in the face! Blood is all over and when I feel my right front tooth its out of place. I start freaking out! I foresee a life without a front tooth. I picture that huge gap when I smile. I'm an emotional wreak - crying and sobbing and all that. I love footbag. I thought it was a safe sport! I can't do anything right! Why me?!!?! Why footbag!! I wasn't even ducking stepping or anything! Just fairy!!! I SUCK!!!! WHY!?!?!

I rush home, the girl calls a taxi and we go to the ER because I don't know what else to do. I don't want to lose this tooth.

Now, its doing better, but it still hurts/bleeds when I apply pressure to it. Doctor says it may be dead now. Physically, it looks fine but I can tell its not quite right. There goes the 2 1/2 years I worse braces.

I guess the lesson of the story is don't sacrifice your form just because you want to hit a move. AND don't try to hit new sets if you're really tired and lazy feeling. I just want everything to be right again and I want to play footbag safely. So be warned.

Happy shredding.

Trying to reenact the event, its hard for me to even bend my back enough to meet my knee. Talk about bad form. I'll be revisiting fairy later today, after I see the dentist. I much reclaim my honor!

this almost happened to me when I tried flip atomic for a day. I was trying over and over again until I thought i had it right. I screamed this to myself before my knee came in contact with my upper lip, nose, and teeth. "Yes! I think I finally got it :D "
I bled for a shit load. It was like one box of tissue gone to waste.
I lesson is, Never hunch(too much). :)
Im 20

Ouch!

You can take this as a clear sign that your form was off. :P

I had a problem with a nerve that was being pinched by a tooth root and la da da I had to get a root canal. It sounds a lot scarier than it is. Don't worry about it, you'll have your beautiful smile back in no time.

:-D (<--Your soon-to-be smile)

 hearing that story made me cry a little inside

jk not really, but still a scary sounding experience. it's definately a good thing to tell everyone else to watch out for. i kneed myself in the face skiing last year EASIEST SLOPE ON THE HILL. i was just being a jackass and decided to get real close to the ground since i was so bored. this was the FIRST run i went down so the rest of the day i had a bloody lip. at least i had braces on, so my teeth were fine. the moral of the story is don't be a stupid douche bag.

Toe > Same Out (DEX) >> Op In (DEX) > Front Tooth (DEX) > Bloody mess

Thats gotta be 3-add at least.

Toe > Same Out (DEX) >> Op In (DEX) > Front Tooth (DEX) > Bloody mess
3 ADDs for hitting it, plus an extra ADD for a root canal.
