They wouldn't be the first to have tried. Fortuneatly for them, I'm don't have much of an affinity the state of Florida. Then again, I'm beggining to despise Seattle for it's lack of suitable women. I believe Florida would be better for that.

While I wait for the video to stream I might just make a comment on some of the videos comments on youtube.

How can anyone argue against evolution? Saying evolution doesn't occur is like saying that the fat kid will beat the fast kid in the 100 metre sprints AND that all siblings are identical.

So the site is kind of up and running, at least bits of it are, so pretty exciting. Good luck getting on it though, the traffic is enormous at the moment. I'm probably going to wait a week or two before having a good look

No apparently the site is down due to too much traffic, which I guess can be seen as a good thing.

The wikipedia comments are pretty ignorant. Thank God EOL will be managed by experts and not just anybody. Anybody can upload information of course, but the information needs to be approved by moderators before it's used. There's also a large team of scientists working on the project, which is great to see. Edward Wilson donated his entire TED prize money to the project, and then a bunch of other people kicked in.

Also due to the way it works, it's almost impossible to use Wikipedia to identify different species of animals (if you don't know what they are). EOL aims to make that process as easy as possible. So far there are only 25 in depth animals listed (but about a million with some kind of mention), so unless you're looking for one of those 25 it's pretty hard, but it's early days. I think they're goal is 10 years to have all 1.8 million known species.
