And Jeremy, we have not lost 3000 citizens.
http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2007/05/ ... 30032.html

Forbes puts the US death toll at 3399 and according to the same article, the US defence department puts the tally at 3395.

Are you sure you're not confusing the words "citizen" with "civilian?" You are aware that all the US soldiers in Iraq are, by definition, US citizens?

In Australia whenever there is a debate about pulling out from Iraq the main, if not only argument put forward by the supporters of the war (particularly John Howard) is that it would be a major blow to the international reputation of the US.

I really don't understand how anyone can accept that as a legitimate reason to continue the war. How many lives are worth sacrificing so that the US can save face. Even more so when there is no evidence to suggest that a withdrawal would increase the risk of terrorism.

I don't think I have ever heard an argument that considers what would be the best thing for the people of Iraq, which I guess shouldn't be surprising because politicians are elected to act for their constituents not those of a foreign nation.

Please, next time you come across one of these people give them a knock on the head and tell them they will not be helping to 'get it over with' any more than the next young Iraqi who volunteers to blow himself up is helping to 'get it over with'.

Did you know that there are a number of US soldiers from other countries that are not US citizens? *gasp*

And Forbes death toll is incorrect. It's 3395, because Forbes is counting those 4 missing soldiers as dead, when they haven't had enough time to search yet.

Hey... more people joining means more support for me and my buddies, means less likely chance of dying, and also money in my pocket.

And no, I have never lied to someone to get them to join just for money. I've never lied to anyone about that stuff.I always tell the truth about the risks and what not, and in some cases, split the money I earn as leverage.

thats probably the worst thing we could do right now.if we pull out now, thats only showing the terrorists that we can't beat them, and since we have the most feared military (supposedly),whats stopping them from global takeover?and plus,if we pull out now,the men who really beleive in this war who have died in it would have died in vein, men who were only trying to help.i personally cant have that on my conscience.
What evidence do you have that you can beat terrorists with force?

Before the Iraq invasion there were no terrorists in Iraq, now it's full of terrorists. What changed? The US started using force there.

When we look at places that had terrorist problems and now don't we don't see terrorists getting destroyed by force at all.

Northern Ireland is fantastic example. They obviously had a big terrorism problem, and now a former terrorist is part of their government. You may think that that's a bad thing, but people aren't getting killed in Northern Ireland any more.
the evidance for beating terrorists with force is those picture of al queda officials dead on tv.as for there was no terrorists in iraq before, bullshit.there is terrorists in every country, just because there is no arrests doesnt mean they aint there.theve probably never increased in number before, were just paying attention to them now.and in northern ireland, they were just using terror to get theyre way, which they did. they have no more use for terror now.thats the basic principle for a terrorist.kill to get your way.im surprised even jeremy with his goddamn facts doesnt even know that.

The Terrorists in Ireland wanted Britain to release their control of Northern Ireland. Britain still controls Northern Ireland. So right there the whole basis of your argument is nullified.

In Ireland the terrorists are no longer active. There are still many people there that would be terrorists if they believe the situation called for it, but as of now, none of them are blowing shit up.

Much like in Iraq. Before we went there, there were certainly people who would become terrorists if they believe the situation called for it. Well, we invaded with no good reason and they believed it was a time to become terrorists. Before we went they weren't blowing shit up. Now they are. The hope is, taken from observations such as the terrorists in Northern Ireland and the Vietnemese after we pulled out, they will stop blowing shit up after we leave.

so the car bombs that happened there like every other week in bagdad as a footnote in the news before we went to war with them never happened? thats hard to beleive.and in ireland, they wanted their views to be recognized.and in veitnam, they got total control so why would they blow up their own country.the basis for your argument doesnt exist.

Oh, that's kinda neat. I searched extensively through cnn's archives to the prewar era. There was an amazing lack of car bombs in Iraq. Perhaps it's because nobody had invaded them yet.

What you say about Ireland is also predominantly wrong. For many years the Catholics and Protestants fought. The Catholics being a minority in Northern Ireland wanted Northern Ireland to be returned to the republic of Ireland. The Protestants wished to remain part of Britain. It was the Catholics, or Nationalists who were the ones doing a majority of the bombing. I'm gonna link to a map of mordern day Ireland now.

http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/europe/ireland.jpg

As you can clearly see, Northern Ireland is still a part of Britain. The Nationalists didn't get what they wanted.

Seeing as how your first two points are patently false, I'm not gonna take the time to explore your third one.

just because there arent records on cnn doesnt mean they dont exist.the news i saw them on was bbc.(american news stations are way too biased in my opinion).and the ira did just want to have their veiws recognized, one of which was to be returned to ireland.but they got peace with the protestants and just settled on the fact that they are never become part of ireland.but the terrorists in iraq are different.sure some of them want us out,but they are in the minority.most of them want anyone not muslim dead, not just the invaders.

This is who I'm trying to argue against? I looked through the records and there were a scattered few, but prety much the day after we invade there's reports of them. If you don't recall, there is a bit of press coverage over Iraq before we invaded. In fact there was a ton. Any large scale bombings would've been reported.

You may want to try to find said reports if you actually expect anyone to believe you.

btw.iraq is pretty most a desolated place.90% of the bombs that went off before the war probably werent reported for two resons

1.isolated place
2.nobody really cared back then.

or the reporters were getting their heads cut off

There were no terrorists in Iraq before the US invaded.

That's what the US 9/11 Panel concluded.

This is two arguments now where you've just made shit up. If you don't know what you're talking about, don't talk.

I searched for "beheading iraq reporter" in a variety of news sources. There were no hits with a date before the war.

Also, if I recall correctly you're 13? 14? Before the war for a good many months there was endless press coverage over Iraq. The UN was looking for weapons which was much publicised and way before the war people were speculating the US was gonna attack.

Maybe you're too young to recall.
