I bought two cds last week, the Donkey Rhubarb single cd, and I care because you do...w00t, I'll eventually buy the whole discogrophy, from both Aphex Twin and AFX...

The majority of Tiesto's stuff is produced by Cor Fijnemann. Tiesto isn't that good at being a DJ, granted he's technically skilled, but so are hundreds of other people. When you get right down to it, his dj skills are not unlike many others'. The thing he's really good at, is being famous.
Oceanlab is just a pseudonym for Above & Beyond (aka Tony McGuinness and Jono Grant...and that other guy). ...and yeah, they're fucking good at what they do. Look at any major trance dj's top 20 list, and there's probably 6 or 7 tracks by A&B. Noone on Earth, Alone Tonight, Can't Sleep, Circuits, Good for Me, Air for Life, Satellite, Beautiful Together, their remix of Dido's Sand in my Shoes, Madonna's What it feels like for a Girl........and those are just off the top of my head.

4 Strings is a weird favorite to have. The only track I can think of by them is "Let It Rain", and that's not even a track I can listen through from start to finish. But hey, whatever floats your boat.
I love techno and especially jungle (which is progressive and has many names but its all jungle to me) We still shred to some old ass tapes that I recorded from a local college radio that was hooked up in my raving days(early 90's). If anyone has some way to share cool music let me know. I got an ipod but cant find shit for free
I like electronic music, but its not my 'main' genre that I listen to, so I can't say I' m overly educated on the subject. I've just heard a couple songs by 4 Strings that I enjoyed. One of my favourites was Fly Away.
IDM is one of my more preferred genres of music. If you're into Aphex Twin you might also want to check out Squarepusher and Venetian Snares if you haven't already. Good places to start with Squarepusher would be Go Plastic or Big Loada, and for Venetian Snares definitely check out Rossz Csillag Alatt Született and Huge Chrome Peach Unfolding. Some other guys I also recommend are DAT Politics, Chris Clark, Dntel, Jega, Max Tundra, Plaid, COM.A, and Caural. They're not all similar, but they are all really good.

Umm, Brett Campbell played a lot of "Musiq", which I liked a bunch too. It's like, some symbol and then "siq"... I don't know. I'm sure someone here knows what I'm talking about.
I used to go to raves, I always liked jungle, breakbeat/breakcore, DNB.
I still listen to the more commercial techno stylings of Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers. I dont listen to "techno" that gets played on the radio since most of it is just remixes and or garbage IMO. It's been years since I have heard some new techno thats able to compete with Daft Punk or The Chemical Brothers or even Prodigy, I havent really been keeping my ear to the ground for electronic music, but I have found some good breakbeat stuff to footbag along with.

I've been listening to a lot of The Field and Gui Borrato recently; while not IDM, they're a lot of fun. Also non-IDM but really excellent electronic music is the stuff by people like Fennesz or Tim Hecker. I would definitely recommend checking out Fennesz's "Endless Summer" and Hecker's "Harmony in Ultraviolet".
It stands for Intelligent Dance Music. Pretty lame name if you ask me. I'm sure it got shortened to IDM pretty quickly so that the people talking about it wouldn't have to sound like pretentious nerds.
I was reading an interview with Richard D. James awhile back, aka Aphex Twin...regarding "IDM", he said something to the effect of, ""I just think it's really funny to have terms like that. It's basically saying 'this is intelligent and everything else is stupid.' It's really nasty to everyone else's music. (laughs) It makes me laugh, things like that. I don't use names. I just say that I like something or I don't."
