Favorite kind of work?

Post by Switch Kicker »

Ok, some of you might be thinking, favorite work? That doesn't even make sense. But I don't know, I might be wrong. I have a favorite kind of work. What about everyone else?

I like to work with wood. Whether it's putting together an entertainment center, widdling (Though I'm not to good at it.), or just takin' down a tree. That's always fun.

Other than that, just doing physical work, I like it. My career will either be a Respiratory Therapist, or Law Enforcement. I've got another year to make a decision, lol. But both require quite a good bit of paperwork, which I HATE. But I guess I'm going to have to get used to it, lol. I also hate auto mechanics... Not the people, the subject. It's too... messy, and unorganized, and ugh, I hate it. But that's me.

But yeah, I prefer the work that leaves you aching at the end of the day. Makes the relaxation times just that more rewarding. And you usually get paid more.

Will be doing a roofing job this summer if the guy that offered me the job pulls through with it.

What about everyone else?

I like physical work as well, but I don't have such a craving for wood. I like taking trees down for landscaping reasons, but I HATE building with wood. Metal in my opinion is just better in every way to work with, which is probably why for the last three summers I've had a job as an auto mechanic, which you also dislike..

I personally like projects, doing all this 'paperwork' and then building it all the way through. Strains the creativity, the engineering aspect, and the ability to work with stuff...

Man... I could totally see you becoming a cop.

Favorite type of work? I like working at Country Club's because there are usually hot girls around and it's just fun and relaxed for some reason. The Upper Crust has always enjoyed my company for some reason. Gay men seem to like me too, but that's beyond the point. Lesbians usually hate me though, but that's also not here nor there. Country/Golf club employment has a fair mix of outside and indoor work.

I enjoy work that is less physical. Stuff that involves sitting in front of a computer or paperwork. It needs to be something that keeps my brain busy, but isn't too physically stressful.

I like my desk job. I chill, listen to good music, and confuse computers. Sometimes even putz around modified and instant messenger. Then when I get home, I have all the energy in the world for play. I never could do that when I was waiting tables or painting all day. Like somedays I'd come home wiped. I can play footbag everyday after work (which I don't do.......but i could :P )

How so? Are you being sarcastic? Because if you are, that's pretty rude. I've wanted to be a cop ever since I was 13. It'd be pretty shitty if you were bagging on that.

Anyway. That's pretty funny. We're like opposites. I hate working with metal. IMO, takes too much time to put it into the right shape, and I don't like that artificial look. I think wood looks absolutely beautiful. I like the texture of it too. I'd have to say the only thing I don't like about it, is the fumes when staining wood. Made a new entertainment center for my living room this weekend, for the new house. Now you could be arrested for being under the influence just by walking into the living room, it'll go away soon. :)

I have a few friends that are taking welding classes at the com college. And another friend who just graduated top of his class as an auto mechanic. He helped me shimmy gear on my trucks starter a few weeks ago, smart guy. Saved me $80. :)

K, I'm done rambling. Nice inputs btw everyone. Ben's got the right idea.

I like physical work. Felling trees is cool (providing there is a seed or baby tree to replace it). But my favourite physical work would probably be increasing my gravitational potential energy. Fun as!

lifeguarding (especially at an indoor pool) is preposterously easy. i dont like working with kids too much, but working at borders for a few months made me realize adults are obviously much bigger assholes and a lot more demanding.
basically retail sucks (for me)...and im not particularly jacked so i hate back breaking labor (i've done a lot of roofing/remodeling for my dad...carrying shingles is miserable) so my ideal work would be the field im entering. locksmithing! take cool stuff apart, put it back together, have keys you're not supposed to, make most of your money on labor, even though its nowhere near back breaking.

I also like doing sales. Especially if there's commission. :) I'm good at that.
