I agree with you, but I know a company that has better products. Cowon, a South Korean company that makes superior products.

I have the Cowon Iaudio X5, its great

i will second the creative zen vision:m, i have absolutely no complaints about it, sure it's not as thin as the video ipod, but it destroys the ipod in features

dONT mind me butting in but my friend and I both have zen vision:m's. He has had his for over a year, it freezes and lags often. Mines has frozen at least 5 times but I've only had mine for 5months, but the thing is theres something wrong with the port, i've connected it to mine, my sister's comp, her labtop, and my friend's(who has the vision m) computer and none of them can read/ detect it. It works but i can no longer add music/ vid to it, and it just happened to stop being detected a week after the 90 day warranty.

I called customer support for both Fry's(the website i bought it from) and creative and they would put you on 90-2hour holds. They didnt help me at all either.

I know this doesnt happen to everyone, but i dont recommend it.

Get a Toshiba GigaBeat, or break your ipod then go to the apple store and ask them if you can get an upgrade(if you have a warranty).

My friend bought ipod mini when it first came out(almost 3 years ago) with a 3 year warranty, it broke and since they dont make mini's anymore they gave him an ipod video cause they were equivalent(price wise).

EDIT: maybe check Yahoo Answers
Freddy Noinaj of the CIC?

Here is the amazon link for the 20 gig one which is about 190 dollars

Be sure to note that very high review (4.5 / 5)

its hands down zen vision m, the best thing about it is the navagation, first of all you have a button that brings up a menu of options, to view track info while listening to a song, or if your going to chiose a song ypou can put it in a temporary playlist right form there, also holding back button takes you directly to the main menu, and it has a skip button that can go to any menu or part of the player, but most importantly it can go to your now playing screen. also it can be used as a jump drive.

lmao peng, thats great...
everyone else, thanks for your input, i'll look into the products that cowon offers, and i was looking at both the creative and toshiba products that were recomended in the thread, and i've found the toshiba gigabeat on amazon under my $150 range for a 40 gb drive, and the creative i found for $250, i guess its a matter of whether or not i can convince my mom to spend an extra $100 than what she already agreed to.

EDIT: after looking at the cowon x5, i'll either get the 20 gb version of that, or the toshiba gigabeat 40 gb, right nw i'm thinking it will come down to the features and somewhat to the accesories available, and included.

I'm pretty sure the 40gb toshiba doesn't play video. I don't know if thats important for you or not.
I got the 60gb which plays vids for $210. The navigation on this thing is great. It doesn't work as file storage, but whatever. The only probably I've had with it is getting dust under the screen. I don't know if you can take it out of the case and clean it or not. It may just be a defective seal or something though.
I've never seen any accessories for it, if there is any.
