Free Hugs Campaign

I saw a group of people of 5th Ave. today with "Free Hugs" signs. It made me really happy to see the campaign make it to Pittsburgh. I had no idea it was catching on internationally. Has anyone else had the campaign invade their city?

It's a pretty simple idea, Turnip. But I think it's a pretty powerful message. Some people just need a hug sometimes. And being that welcomed by a complete stranger is sure to brighten someone's day. I dunno, that's my take on it.

I don't remember who said it on here. But someone mentioned something about Australian comedy and American comedy being pretty different. That segment right there proves it. It was only funny for about 5 seconds, I gave a slight chuckle, and then felt like I was watching General Hospital or something.

I think it's kind of backasswards, and your explanation doesn't really seem suitable Caleb. It seems to me that it's usually more about a bunch of people wanting attention and wanting to do something wacky and out there. No way would I hug one of these people. What a worthless hug.

Then again, my favorite book is Franny and Zooey so that might explain something too.

I don't think the fact that it went on for more than a few seconds has much to do with it being 'australian' humour.

yeah its always the same story. a bunch of kiddos (doesnt matter how old they are, if they think this is a great idea, they're kiddos) heard about someone else doing something like this and so they think they'll do it and be cool.
similar is like that trading thing where the dude started with like a paper clip with the goal of trading for a car, or house, or whatever. for weeks after that groups of hipster kiddo faggots would come up to me asking if i wanted to trade them something for like a Q Tip or sample cup of semen. no thanks, and you're not cool.
the other thing is its fine if you really want to do something like that but only if you get anywhere near succeeding. 99% of the time those kids would go around for like an hour before getting bored and spending the 5 dollars they just traded their ass virginity for on another bitch latte at starbucks.

I know full well that hugs are great. A simple hug can turn your day from stressful and shitty, to carefree and enjoyable. But that last thing I want, is some person, touching me when I'm in a bad mood, in the middle of a restaurant or a mall or whatnot. If anything, I'd probably get frustratingly ticked off. But I'm rarely in a bad mood when I'm out in public. I'm usually laid back and carefree.

I kinda thought the whole, "Free Hugs" thing was stupid... and just something for people to do.

lol, Albert Lea isn't THAT small, ha ha. It's got a population of 20-25 thousand, so yeah... I don't know. It's a smaller town, but it's been growing a lot. And I shred at the gazebo at one of the parks around here. So... you're WRONG, =)
