Hi Kevin.

Eric, it was probably my fault the bag isn't round. Remind me and we'll take care of the situation next time I see you. I'm really sad that I'm not going to the Green Cup this year.
I was planning on going on Monday, but then I had to work. I was going to go on Sat, but I had to work. So Sunday was the one day, but I must go to the math center on Sunday from 12-5 to get help before the final. Not doing that would be really stupid, so I'm going to act like a good student and skip footbag fun.
I'm glad other people have been posting in here. I try not to do it when I don't have anything footbag related to talk about, so if it weren't for those posts it would be dead.
Because I'm missing the Green Cup and I had some spare time, I decided to play footbag tonight. Keep in mind that it has been 20 days since my last post, and in that post I figured out that I haven't played since April 8th.
I knew it was going to be bad, but I had no idea.
After putting on some pump-me-up music and warming up with a bunch of inside kicks, I tried some basic moves and drills.

Oh my...
Summer is 5 days away. Then from June 9th-15th I'll be in MD for work, then from the 15th-22nd I'll be in Illinois. I am going to visit my parents because seeing them once a year for about a week sucks. We're going on a small trip to Mo. I am the only person in my family who has interest in keeping up the family tree. The earliest recorded event in the tree I have is the birth of Samuel in 1611, neato. I've already waited so long that I'm not sure the oldest family member in Mo. will still be alive if I wait another year. I want to fill out the tree sideways since I don't have any of the very recent information, and hopefully I'll get some names from farther back too. I'm going to take a tape recorder to I can get some old stories about people in the family. It'll be a fun adventure.

I was sad you didn't make it to the GC this year. The SC crew was, in fact, severely underrepresented. We only brought up 4 people/players out of our club of like 8-13 ish. When you think about the sheer number of Chaos members who showed up to our event to support us (8-10?), 4 is a pretty pathetic number. Oh well, I'll get over it.
You'd have been proud of me. I whooped some major ass. AJ helped deliver the ass whoopings. We actually played decently in competition for the first time, which was really cool. In the finals of the "advanced" bracket, we were down 8-9 in the third game of the best 2 out of 3 series. We fought back and won 15-12 against the team that had beaten us in unofficial games 3 times the day before. AJ and I won the advanced bracket, but we didn't get any prize or recognition for it during the awards ceremony. That was kind of lame. I did get to drink out of the Green Cup trophy though.
It's up and down with he and I. He is a really good player but he never seems to play up to him potential, and that frustrates me to no end. Anyway, our "partnership" is complete for now, as I'm fairly sure he is not going to Worlds this year. So, I'm back to being partnerless again. I dunno what I'm gunna do about that one.
In Open singled net, I surprised myself and performed well. Out of 16 or 18 players, I placed 8th. First, in my pool of 3, I got my ass whooped by Alexis but beat Walt Huston from Memphis, so I advanced out of my pool to the round of 8ish. Then I had to play Cory Current, a good open player from Chicago, who beat me 11-7, 12-10. I had a great showing and received major props from many players who watching me excitedly. I was hanging in there very well, and even had a game point in the 2nd game. Anyway, since I lost, I had to go back down and fight my way up. I played several other matches, including AJ Shultz (who beat Ben, one of the memphis boys, who beat Chris Young), Edwin Veltman (who beat Sage and Chris Young), and someone else who can't remember now, all of whom I beat. So, yeah: 8th place overall. I am very happy about that.
Lastly, I paid my Chaos dues, so I am now an official member of Chaos Footbag, as well as an SCFC member. I got a sweet Chaos beanie and hat, and my Chaos number is 25 (although there is already a 25 from the past who they have to check with to see if it is alright to give away his number to me). While I had mixed feeling about this at first, I am happy with my decision. It is my way of showing my dedication to Net and support to the club that helps to train and teach me.
So there is your Green Cup wrap-up from Jeremy.

Wow Jeremy! Thanks for the information and WOOOO, good job. Congrats on becoming a Chaos member. I don't know why you had doubts, but it seems like a good move for your net career. Plus their team clothing is pretty sweet.

I had fun because I played music that I like playing to. If I can play just a little every day or two I'll get better than I am right now.

Yeah, something like that.
I knew Dustin was out of town today so I decided to kick some.

100 pickups with a ton of drops. I didn't drop from 1-30 though, so the other drops were okay.
The 100 pickups were what I was going to end on, and as soon as I finished I came in from my deck to get some water. Dustin was calling to see if I was still coming to the 5:30-ish session. I had forgotten about that... he was out of town Tues. So as soon as I tired myself out I found out (again) about the whole session.
I'm on my way there now.

You forget that I eat, sleep, and breathe modified (...and it's really too bad because footbag players smell bad.
) so everything includes going on modified.
It turns out that maybe I didn't forget about the session because we might not have talked about it; neither of us can remember for sure.
And the session started at 6:30, not 5:30, so I was only about 10 minutes late. The nice thing was that I was still warm from the solo stuff. I kicked with Dustin and the newer guy Brian, and Fletch came to hang and stitch after he got out of class. I tried dyno and was able to hit it bsos a few time, so that was nice. Uh, uhmmmmm....
I tried ducking a session or two ago and today. I was better a few days ago.
Not much else, a few fun little runs. butterfly>26 infinities>far legover.

Session with Dustin at UCSC. Both the study room and gym were locked but it was a nice day so it was pleasant kicking outside. Brian (new guy) was going to show up too but something came up. It was a last minute session anyway.
We walked over to the partly shaded walkway and I saw a bunny! I showed Dustin, then we saw a second one, then nearby a third! Then I saw another set of ears russeling around in the ground cover. They were hopping around pretty much the whole time we were there so we could usually look over and see a wild bunny.

-There were two different times I hit ducking clipper>ducking clipper (going out to Fletch)
-fairy legover>fairy legover took several tries but was fun.
-A few long (for me) strings. I got clapped for and near the end of the string I heard a girl walking by say to her friends (in a whisper) "Let's try to mess her up!" I said "I heard that!" and they laughed. And I dropped.
-Dustin was doing a string and I could see a group of guys walking by. There was a guy who was watching Dustin so hard that he almost didn't see the stairway down in time. He was eatting an ice cream cone so it would have been a cold, bloody fall. Way to distract, Dustin!
-Oh, and when Christine was trying toe stalls a guy and two girls were walking up the stairs near us.
Guy in annoying voice: Aw look, they're playing hacky sack.
Same guy a minute later: Hey (to one of the girls he was with) you're in the perfect state for this, you should join them.
She looked all stoney. Christine passed the bag to Dustin and the guy happened to look back. "Woah!" -the two girls were blown away too. Good job Dustin, maybe footbag is not the best activity for the faded and slow people stumbling by.

The most exciting part of the session for me was a young woman (Christine, mentioned above) walking up to Dustin while he was playing and ask, "Oh, so you are doing it to the beat?" I asked her if she wanted a free lesson and she said sure. Awesome.
Dustin and I showed her how to get started with inside kicks, toe stalls and inside stalls and she tried them. After a few minutes we started the circle back up so we could all play and she stuck around for the rest of the session. Eventually she got three inside kicks in a row and three toe stalls in a row. At one point she said "I love how supportive you guys are, it's great." I was stoked.
She won't be at school over the summer but since she'll be here for another week she wanted to meet up and learn more. Yes, I know better but I'm totally getting my hopes up about having another girl to kick with. She asked about what kind of bag to get too. I told her I have some new Mr.'s so she could buy one off of me and she sounded happy about that. The three of us exchanged contact information and the day was done.

I can confirm all of Emily's claims! Also, Brian and I will be playing tuesday 4:00-6:00. I never got Christine's email (she has mine but hasn't emailed me yet) so if you could email her about this (or email me her email and I'll email it to her?). Anyway just letting anyone who might want to come know! It was a super fun session on Sunday those crazy rabits were everwhere!

I e-mailed you just before I checked Modified.
I'm getting sick, yes right now as I type, so I won't be at tomorrow's session.

Ha, you CIC goofs always make me smile. And by "smile" I mean "angry."
Thank you Fletch, that made me feel better. I liked the link; good job on not paying $13.95.
I feel TERRIBLE. I was in bed from 8:45pm last night until about 3:20pm save a few bathroom breaks. I don't remember ever having such HORRIBLE body aches. I was so cold that I had a short sleeve, long sleeve and sweat shirt on, pants, socks, a sheet, blanket, quilt, down comforter, and my really thick bath robe on top and I was still freezing. I was crying because I was in so much pain and so upset about the stuff that was going on (nightmares) I was having while asleep/awake- that's the worst.
At least when I do things I go all or nothing.
I have a cross-country work flight and birthday within the next 4 days.
:!:
I'm really lucky to have roommates who will take a break from work at 3pm to make me Jell-O and bring me Sprite.
I'm going back to sleep.
Sincerely,
Emily

I woke up today feeling SO much better, almost perfect -which is how I usually am.
I'm just going to think of that 24 hour flu as my cleansing before a new year. Oh god, I've been in hippyville for too long…
