Terra Verde Transportation

How many people will be at Terra Verde without a car upon arrival?

Carpooling, car rentals, etc are great ideas. However I was sparked by a possible idea that a school bus making trips to and from Terra Verde and Milk House at pre-determined times would be pretty cost efficient.

A school bus could carry 40 people, and would be great for the underagers who don't drive and can't rent a car.

However, there is a degree of flexibility for having your own car. But with a bus, it would make it possible to not to rent a car the whole time you're down in Florida.

Just a thought being thrown out there. Maybe others are interested?

I will inquire about the Terra Verde shuttle bus as well.

that sounds like a great idea but what is involved in getting a hold of a school bus? we'll also need a driver as driving a big school bus requires a different kind of lisence.

The bus idea sounds enticing, but that means that everyone who paid for it would be forced to come and go whenever the driver wanted to? And someone would also have to volunteer to be the driver for the whole week...

2 other options are: Getting groups of about 8 and renting a van (but in order for it to be economical you'd need someone over 25.)

Using Taxis: The guy I rented my place from recommended I call this taxi service: 407-847-8777. They give discounts to Terra verde members. And, since we would have about 30 people needing rides like twice a day for a week, I think we could probably get them to cut us a good deal. Even if they wanted to charge $10/trip, that would only be $5 a day for transportation to and from the event assuming 4 people per trip. If anyone wants to call them and try and work out a group rate please feel free, because I probably won't be motivated enough to figure it out until a week or two beforehand.

Yeah, the school bus would have a driver and would pick us up like they do for school kids and drop us off the same way at designated times.

They won't take us on anyway. And the Terra Verde shuttle bus also is no longer available. Our renter also suggested the discount taxi service.

Anyway, I looked up car rentals for August 11-20 and the best rate I got was $222.56

It's about $25 a day to rent an economy car including taxes, which isn't half bad considering it allows 5 people to get around. Divide by 5 and it's about $5 in transportation a day.

Someone find out the rate of the taxi's.

dont forget gas prices. august is a peak for gas prices here in the us... and im sure orlando is going to have high gas prices anyway. i would expect it to be $3.50+ a gallon during the time we are there.

i have an uncle that lives in orlando... ill find out what i can from him about taxis

edit: i just did a search online... and looks like taxis are 40+ from kissimee to disney. rentals are going to be way cheaper.

Car rentals are the way to go. if you just rent a normal car and fit 4 or 5 people in it then it's cheaper than shuttles, or taxi's. Plus you then have a ride to go to the store or whatever. Justin expressed interest in renting one. If two others in the funk house did as well then the whole house would be set.
