What a bunch of fanboys.

I seriously cannot get rid of this thing! I will never understand how anyone who has ACTUALLY owned a Wii for more than 3 months (not just played it at a friends) can find any game interesting anymore. I really will never understand everyone's everlasting fascination with the wii and it's wiimote. That technology has been out since the 80s. Remember the power glove? The Wii is just so NOT next-gen on soo many levels that it's sad that everyone is suckered in to a piece of shit.

By the way, I can make a ps1 "exercise" if I wanted to. That is the weakest defense of the console I've ever heard. Really. I couldn't tell you how many people who own a Wii say to me that all it does anymore is collect dust. And for the people who say "Well yer dum, da good gamez are cummin! NOOB!" 3 decent looking games in the next YEAR! is not good enough to justify even spending $250+ I spent on mine.

I'm seriously obsessed with why people like this horrible garbage ass system for more than a month MAX! It blows my mind how people settle for mediocrity when the Wii is so outmatched, IMO, a dreamcast is better. At least you don't have to pay for the games with no modchip required. I'm done. :D

I can't understand how someone can hate a console that much and at the same time fancy another console which is IMO the same console as all the others before with the same games...better graphics (and no innovation whatsoever)...

It took me long to comprehend but finally I found out that graphics don't make a good game and Sony and Microsoft haven't got to this level of "wisdom" yet.
Physical exercise is for me not a point to defend the console but it's one more plus that makes it an interesting and funny console.
I like Nintendo's ideas and you can't tell me that there has ever been anything like the Wiimote - perhaps the idea isn't that new but no one has ever made it so simple and intuitive.
I own my Wii since the European release and I'm very happy with it, I've never regretted my buy. I regret that I used to spend so much money on Playstation games because I don't play one of them anymore. I regret that I used to play WoW because it's useless and stupid but that's passé.

I think that the Nintedo Wii is simply the best console at the moment because it's fun to play alone or with friends, it's rather cheap and at least it's not the same shit as usual. I am sick of playing the 100th sequel of Tekken, Ridge Racer, Virtua Fighter, Metal Gear Solid, GTA, DoA, Halo, etc. because these games don't ameliorate over the years - no they just stagnate at some level and get some kind of "plastic surgery" and that's all.
Tell me about one sequel of Mario that has been the same as the one before ?

Btw I don't know anyone who doesn't like his Wii and personally I do think that there is a reason why the Wii has so much success and the Playstation 3 and X-Box 360 are just fading into nothingness...

soo that's my opinion on this topic..I can't believe there is anyone who doesn't like to play Wii (Sports, Play, Mario Strikers Charged, CoD, Red Steel, Excite Trucks, soon Smash Brothers, Super Paper Mario, Zelda....) But I'm not you and after all I prefer playing footbag or poker or going out with friends anyway :D

agreed. I'd rather play tetris or megaman or an old mario game than halo. I hate halo. And everyone's ranting about how the graphics in the third halo is supposed to be "out of this world" yet that doesn't make up for me not liking the gameplay.

Eh, Mario Power Tennis was kind of a rip off of the 64 version, only with more minigames, which I ended up playing more than the actual matches. And the Second Paper Mario was better in new features, but was pretty much the old version with a coat of paint. And same thing with Super Smash Bros Melee, new coat of paint, and the old version was better gameplay. Fortunately enough, those are the only examples I can think of.

Damn you got me :D

No I actually meant the real Mario games thus the games where you wouldn't play some sport adaption with mario but the real mario jump n'runs ;)

The sports games are sometimes quite the same, p.e. Mario Strikers Charged is not so different than the First Mario Soccer..but it is still a hell lot of fun especially played online :)

You have got to be kidding me! SSBM was a lot more in depth than the first game. Sure the basic stuff was the same, but the gameplay in light years better in the new version. It has very difficult techniques, about which many don't even know, that you can master to get better in the game. It takes you months if not years to learn them all, but even with some of the easier stuff the game becomes a lot more interesting. Here's a list of stuff you can do:

I'm hoping SSBB will be even better than SSBM!

Ok, James. I think it's perfectly fine for you to be disliking the Wii, because you've had bad experiences with it, or you're not satisfied with the fact that it didn't live up to your standards... But why you gotta bring all this negativity to a perfectly fine discussion?

If you wanna sell your Wii, fine, that's great. Go make a topic about how much you hate the Wii, and then sell it on e-Bay. (If you can't sell your Wii on e-Bay, you're hopeless.) But we're trying to have a discussion about how much we like the Wii and it's games. So could you please stop ruining that for us?

Back on topic. I definitely agree. SSBM is way better than SSB. The game is so much more in depth, and even years after "mastering" it, there's still so much I don't know about techniques and fighting styles. You look at the some of the game plays from GamePro tournaments, and it's just nuts seeing some of the things those players do. It's one of the only games in the world that has true balance in it's game play. Any character, can beat any other character. Not only that, but the replay value is phenomenal. Go look at the hours logged into your SSBM Data option. If you're a fan of SSBM, it should be in the thousands of hours by now. (If you got the game and have the original version of it still saved to your memory card.)

I personally LOVE, Halo 1, 2, and 3. 3's gonna need more work with graphical details, but the physics right now, are flawless. The game play is slightly different, but I'm adjusting just fine. I mainly like Halo because the game play is so simple, and easy to use. Not only that, but it has a very impressive story line if you ever look into the books. I love you Eric Nyland.

One Mario game that just is repetitive as shit, is Mario Party. My god, thank god the Wii's version is... well, a Wii version of Mario Party, lol. Was so sick of playing the same mini games over, and over, and over again. They should've stopped making Mario Party after the 3rd one, IMO.

But other than that, Mario kicks ass. Nintendo rocks the gaming world. They've got all the originals, they innovative ideas, and they just know what they're doing. Really, all Sony and Microsoft has, is sports games, shooters (Not for long because CoD on Wii kicks CoD on PS/Xbox's asses), and racing games. Nintendo's got Mario, Zelda, DK, and I guess we can include the SSB series now because that's gotten so big. SSBM is still the number one GCN game, lol. Crazy.

Woot, go Wii!

I've played Call of Duty plenty of times and the controls just dont work as well as any other console does.

The "attraction" to a first person shooter on the Wii is that you get to actually aim where you want to shoot. This isn't true. You are either aiming above or below the screen, and if you aim more than 2 inches one way or another your going to be turning around helplessly. The controls are clunky and poorly done.

Has anyone played the Sonic game? Almost none of the minigames work like they are supposed to. the one where you are on towers and you're spinning those ball and chains at each other, it never worked. Not once. And sometimes even if i wasnt moving the wiimote it would start swinging the ball and chain.

You could have poorly made "innovative" games with N64 graphics, or you could play more polished "normal" games with newer graphics and gameplay. Just because the controller is essentially the same doesn't mean the games haven't changed. Sequels to games may have the same basis, but they are usually different (except a few like Tekken and DOA)

How can you say Mario sequels aren't the same as their predecessors? It's all running and jumping, just like you said. What makes Mario 2 so much different than mario 1, when all the Halos are the same, according to you?

Yeah I don't know what the hell I was talking about. I apologize, every so often I have a 'dumbass post' that makes no sense :?

Nintendo is always trying to modify gameplay. Some of the games are pretty much the same game, but think about Super Mario Bros. compared to Mario 64 compared to Super Mario Sunshine compared to Super Mario Galaxy (which was called "practically perfect" by an IGN editor.) Or think about Super Paper Mario compared to the original Paper Mario. They're not just the same game with new features, they're totally different concepts.

I just can't agree with that one sorry :D I play CoD (on Wii) every now and then and I have never ever had any problems with controls. Of course it was quite a slap in the face for me to be aiming with the Wiimote in 3d as I was used to play Counterstrike Source with a mouse that reacts to the tiniest movement but heck that's what makes Wii Games so funny...

It's different and that's why I like it. Of course they could've made it with autoaim so all the beginners out there would be happy that they too get to shoot something instead of being everyone's target but we are talking about innovation and fun...
Aiming with a controller in the third dimension is not that new but being forced to do this while walking etc. - I seriously doubt that any console has ever made this so perfectly.

About Mario there has already been an accurate answer and why I think that all Halo's are the same :

I played the first Halo a long time ago. Back then I thought "WOW look at these graphics" but once I had seen everything it got very boring. The guns weren't balanced whatsoever seeing as the little handgun was much stronger than almost any other gun (rofl). The level design was ok but if you finished the game once there wasn't any reason to play it anymore. Only Multiplayer if anything but it was stupid because it was just "take your handgun and shoot twice...Yay another kill"...So Halo 1 was basically a "mayfly".

Halo 2 was almost the same as Halo 1 apart from being allowed to use two guns at once but the rest wasn't that much new..I finished the game at once (playing it at a party because I have never been a friend of the X-Box seeing as I used to be a big fan of playstation...Nintendo was "out" after the N64 back then) and yeah...multiplayer was lame again I just didn't like the slow mo feeling of aiming with (guess what) yes with your handgun of course because it was still the best gun (rofl lol rofl) in the whole game.

So I am not interested in Halo 3 because I don't think it will be very different from the first two parts and even if it were, I don't buy a game I have finished in less than one day which I won't ever touch again after that...

If I want to play a shooter it has to be fast and full of action. It has to be balanced and fun to play if possible more than once. The most important thing is of course a nice multiplayer because any story mode gets boring after the second time you've finished it. Unfortunately there is no multiplayer in CoD but that's not that bad seeing as the controls and all the funny ideas still make it a good game.

Anyway I don't play many shooters anymore because basically they are all the same. Aim - shoot - take his gun - open this door - aim - shoot - Congratulations you've got to the second level  and because graphics don't make a good game anymore (for me at least) there is little reason to buy shooter games because they are mostly : New Graphics, new guns, new levels but apart from that - completely the same thing as before.

... What are you talking about? The "handgun" (Called the Magnum) can't kill someone with an entire clip. That's not even an exaggeration, you need 12 shots, plus a 13th shot to the head to kill someone. The clip has 12 rounds. So the "handgun" in Halo 2 is absolute crap. Where as the "handgun" (Pistol) in Halo 1 took 2 shots, plus a 3rd to the head to kill someone.

Either way. The Halo games aren't only different because of the weapons. The movement calibration is changes with each game. Swipe sniping didn't occur ever in Halo 1, it happens all the time in Halo 2, and they have a new modification to swipe sniping in Halo 3. It's still there, just... not as "strong." Grenades change too. Halo 1, the grenade had to land, rest for a full second, then blow. Halo 2, grenades bounce on any surface besides a vertical wall, or a ceiling, and they blow up. Throwing distance is crap compared to Halo 1. Throwing distance varies from grenade to grenade in Halo 3 (New feature, woot.) Spike Grenades (New grenade, shoots spikes out, sticks to any surface. Spike hits you in the head, you die, and the initial explosion hurts you too.) go extremely far because they are shaped like a baton, where frags get lobbed like you're a toddler... Stickies go extremely far because they're much smaller now in size but still pack the same deadly punch from Halo 2. Not to mention the new "utility" button for Halo 3, which has changed the game play tremendously.

I don't know, maybe you have to be a hardcore Halo gamer like me to see all these changes, but I notice differences in these games everywhere. I could list every difference between Halo 1, 2, and 3, but it would honestly take me hours to put the list together and it would be approximately 10-15 pages in length. No joke. (I <3 Halo)

And I'm not trying to defend Halo in anyway here. If you don't like Halo, great. I'm just saying that the games really are not the same at all. It's hard going form Halo 3 to Halo 2, to Halo 3, to Halo 2, then to Halo 1 when at a friend's house. It's ridiculous.

Why the hell are we talking about Halo in a Wii topic?... Halo, Wii, god damn I wish they would hook up. Will never happen though. But I can dream.

After reading my prior post, I realize that the reason I see all these differences is, because they actually matter to me. I play to win. Where a casual gamer would see no difference between the frag grenades in Halo 1 and 2, I see the ability to bank a grenade off the slanted outer wall of the top of BR tower in Lockout and have the grenade blow up in my enemies face as he tries to jump out an shoot me. Something not possible with the Halo 1 frag grenade.

Like I said, I play to win. I'm quite often in online tournies, and plan on going to a Chicago MLG tournament in 2008 for Halo 2/3. (I don't expect to even place top 25... Those people are nuts.)

So I apologize for trying to explain all of that without realizing that I"m a Halo freak, and that it shouldn't be expected of normal people to understand my obsession.

Ok, now seriously, I'm going to bed. Got drill in the morning... need sleep...

Man could you imagine Halo on Wii?

The N64 quality graphics, the poorly done aiming, the not so sensitive grenade throwing, it would be perfect!
