When you guys get back from the event this weekend I highly recommend you make plans to go to Thursday at the Square in Buffalo, NY with Matt Cross as soon as you can.

Matt, his friend Jeff, and I went last night to shred it up at Thursday at the Square in Buffalo and it was awesome. We received a lot attention from pedestrians and onlookers, and most of it was genuine amazement. The sceen was packed with hundreds of people for hours. There were at least six hack circles that I counted and the respect from those players was good. There were other kickers we met that had a lot of potential.

One thing to keep in mind, if you do decide to go please bring some sort of promotional material for footbag, or even better for rochesterfootbag.com. I am going to work on a small handout flyer for rochesterfootbag.com and put it up on the site for download and printing. Stay tuned for more on this.

Excellent update to the site Mike, I liked the part about "Matt and his entourage taking the hack scene to a whole new level." This sounds like a really great way to rep footbag to the public, and I would love to go down with you guys, but I dont think I can make it this coming Thursday seeing as how this is my last full week of skool. However, after this coming week I should be free most of summer, so expect to see me and maybe some other Pittsford guys down there many a Thursday. I'm really lookin forward to playin w/ everyone again, it sounds like everyones makin SO much progress. props to everyone!

I am going to see if I can convince Julia to come and bring at least one of her hot friends to Thursday at the Square with us. This will serve two purposes, get me down there without a fight and secondly, bring a hottie.

sounds awesome! I have had good luck so far with Julia bringing a hot friend around, so you know I'm all for it. just as long as she can stand the site of me all sweaty (best to get that right out on the table

hopefully she'll be dealing with it sooner or later).

I hope this week works out for everyone involved. if the weather is okay, it sounds good to me!

It figures I would respond with a 'yes' before checking my schedule. I have an appointment this Thursday evening for an oil change and tire change. I need to get my warm-weather tires on my car before I ruin my winter tires - a little late on my part but better late then never. I will do my best to make it next Thursday.

I highly recommend you go to this every chance you get. I had a great time and exposure for footbag is always a good thing.

Wow guys, the whole Buffalo BILLS SUCK!!! oh, um sorry, New Englander knee jerk reaction dealie sounds like LOADS of fun . I love those kinds of events with a jillion hack circles. If I lived anywhere near there I would totally go every week.

Mike, great mini-article and I dug those flyers a bunch. Events like this are GREAT for finding new players. Sounds like Matt has already layed some groundwork there. Hand out those flyers, as many as you can, it's pretty much a numbers game. If 1 out of every 10 people actually visits the site, and 1 out of 5 of those people come to a session, you need hand out 50 to get 1 new player, so hand out lots!

Just a word of caution when circle "crashing", try not to make a bad name for footbag out there. A lot of hack players are intimidated by footbag players, which is why they tend to stick to hack circles. You may notice that after you join a hack circle, as soon as you start freestyling, the attitude of the hack players will change. Out of all the hacky sack players I have ever met, only two or three really enjoyed playing in the same circle as me.

Matt Cross, his friend Jeff, and I joined a few hack circles last time we went to Thursday at the Square, and after some period of time it came down to only three or four of the hacky sack players staying with us. Other hack players would enter, see what we were doing, and then leave to join hack-only circles.

Try and keep the peace out there or we will loose a lot of potential players, event attendees, and friends.

I don't mean to preach, but I don't like keeping my mouth shut when I feel the need to speak.

This happened to me today.
These kids were kicking around a 32 panel juice bag then I came into the circle. I didnt freestyle or anything but they new I could. It felf like all the attention was around me and I was a puppet or something. I did a couple of hippy hack moves and they got threatened or something like I was trying to show off or someting.
Im sure a neck stall is not showing off.

Yet another excellent addition to the site Mike, I'm really looking forward to seeing that footage.

Actually I was talking to a friend at school during wind ensemble one day and he started talking about this "juggling and hacky sack thing at RIT" he saw on tv and I got all excited and was like "I was there!" Then he started talking about this "hacky sack guy getting interviewed" and i was all "Dude! Dave Clavens! I got to play right next to him a few times!" He gave me a surprsied look. Haha, I just thought it was kinda cool. I really wanna see that footage now.

The weather looks thuperduper for buffalo tomorrow, who will come? WHO?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I will come. I had a great time last week. I REALLY hope some rochester people will come, and I really hope someone will pick up jeff. Doug? Chris? Jeff? Paul? who can come?
