I just wrote my long montreal writeup on the previous page!

Tonight is 905 footbag club night!

There is a new guy named Chad! he came out and met skippy and me last night and he was bloooowwn away! it was such good timing for him to meet us, his lavers arrived at his house today! he already had a few sandbags and freedoms and even jorden's gravity man dvd!

He is SUPER keen and so very very excited to have stumled into this new world!

Tonight the posse is shaping up to be myself, hunter, dan and chad. Oh shit, I should call the other new newbie named Jon.

Why do footbag scenes always seem to explode around me?

So when I uploaded the footage that we took when jorden visited I went to make a DVD out of it for Jorden and tried a button I hadn't tried before called 'Make Movie".

I clicked the button and it made this all on it's own:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=sduX3qEzQPw

I thought it was really funny and totally worth saving.

The best part I think is when it pans over to me doing a mosher's tail then fades to a cripwalk. I made those things up!

The whole situation is pretty creepy I think.

I made a set of juggling balls on the sewing machine today. If I could juggle, I'd tell you they were sweet. But since I can't, they are for you. <3

I hope you had fun at your 905 shred. Don't forget I'm part of the 905 too!
I gotta go to bed early tonight because I'm going to wake up early to slam out this paper. Don't call me tonight, but call me tomorrow if you can.

Last night was epic!
I am going to start a 905 SHRED blog real soon to detail all that went on. To sum it up, the scene here is EXPLODING!! what the heck??

So after weeks of not getting any footbag orders at all I had the most prolific footbag sales day of my life yesterday!

So I sold a 32 to one of my new students, he decided he wanted another one, then his two buddies he brought to the shred yesterday also wanted 32's. One bought one I'd already made and then the other (his gf) ordered one from me.

Shortly after I talked to Paloma from Spain and she ordered two bags!

Then to end the night I get a PM from Jay Boychuck's friend requesting FOUR more bags!

What the heck is going on??

I am fine with this, and I will stitch all the bags but um.. I sure hope you didn't want one of my bags for a long time because you just missed your chance. :P 8)

whoah, props on the sales, buddy! what a nice followup to the disappointing sales in montreal!

so, looks like this london thing is going to go down, and looks like I'm not getting paid, but f it. I'll get a week in london out of it (instead of just a couple days) and hopefully I won't break the bank.

see ya, shredito

Kickass session with Pengpeng and Skippy today! :D

Pengpeng's parents dropper her off in the morning and she helped me run my garage sale that I organized. The garage sale went really well! It wasn't much work and in 3 hours of selling we made about $70 and decided we didn't give a shit about the rest of the stuff and called it a day.
We drove to Mississauga and got some sweet dim sum to fill us up. Man, what a place, like, gajillions of people every where you look, with people looping around the tables with carts of food of all sorts. We ate a bunch of good things and had good conversation and then I paid the bill since the garage sale went so well. Most of the stuff I sold was stuff my parents donated, they said I could keep the profits if I do all the work to get it organized. I had a fun bike ride last night putting up all the signs. :)

After food we drove to skippy's house and surprised him with an offer to come shred. He agreed like a trooper even though his legs were sore.

Pengpeng shredded SO hard!! I am so proud of her!

Get this... my totally hot girlfriend who stitches choice footbags nailed her first GUILTLESS LINKS BOTH SIDES today!! :D 8) 8O

After we worked on her osis' for a while she got them both sides (not new) and then I challenged her to butterfly>osis and she fucking nailed it! And then to make it even sweeter, both sides! yeah! My girl!!! 8)

She worked really hard on mirage>pixie and pixie>mirage, she is soooo close to the repeat drill, but she totally did mirage and pixie bsos lots of times.

Hehe we even walked her through her first whirls. :)

Oh yeah! She can SWIRL too! Go Pengpeng!! :D

I think if she keeps up this kind of attitude/approach towards footbag she will really start to see the progress she had been frustratingly waiting to see.

Skippy's shred is getting soooo much better!!! He hadn't really played much over the last bunch of months, but since I've been back he's been at it hardcore with me. I guess the way I can best describe the change to his game is that it's more mature. He is starting to really respect the fundamentals and how they work to make bigger stuff happen eventually.
Good work skipman.

My shred was okay, we played on my shred mats with all of us in lavers. These days I play in G's most often, climas when I need to go hard and don't mind smelling horrid and lavers when we have the shred mats out.

Hmm highlights....

I hit WHAT!? from op toe and it was a glorious moment! I got a big hug from Pengpeng and props from skippy mid hug.
I think that's a move I can really get into. I had some hilarious attempts at WHAT!? variations that left me in a heap on the ground. Once I got it I could totally feel that my legs were doing the wierdo action that's so bewildering. I wanna see it on tape!

I did some cool links today, skippy has been begging me to hit toe symple swirl>rev swirling toe (repeat ideally) and I footed it a few times. I did hit rev swirling toe>symple swirl but that's the easy part of the drill. (Still wicked cool!)

I had killer atomic ducking today. Skullsmasher seemed like a joke for some reason.

Oh! New trick!

Gyro DLO! I probably shoulda done it a long time ago, but I hadn't and now I have. I footed the other side, I will get to that.

Still! Whee! What a trick!

I did a sweet mosher's tail today.

Oh yeah, and two days ago I did 6 hours of yard work for my neighbor. I had to get all hardcore and do this giant (10 foot tall hundreds of feet long) hedge with electric clipper thingies. It was pretty amazing actually. I felt like I had this epic hedge slashing sword as I wailed my way along. It kinda felt like a super realistic hedge trimming level of katamari. :P
So I did the big dumb hedge (like three times practically, after all the changes the lady wanted) I mowed the lawn and called it a day. Today she swang (swung? swinged?) by and payed me.... ready for this? $150!! That's like.. eight hundred dollars an hour or something!

So I leave for Germany in... a week and a day. Eeeeee!!!!! :D

WHAT!? is a move that only Ken Somolinos does, it is butterfly symposium reverse swirling toe and when you see it hit you have no idea what you just saw.

It is sooooooota like a symposium eggbeater except the timing and placement of the dexes is all mangled. The 'illusion' becomes a reverse swirl and the 'legover' is the butterflying leg catching the bag on it's toe.

Uhh.. I guess that's a description of it.

World's! ahh!! yeah!!!

My neck is really sore from a sweet move I was doing last night. So you know that move you see in martial arts fights where you whip up from the ground on your back and snap up to your feet? Well Ive been able to do that for a few years but I nailed a much much harder variation yesterday. I learned to do the trick without using my hands above my head on the ground at all! So all my whipping power comes from my abs, back and neck. I guess my neck took it the hardest because I am wicked sore.

So I was just pooping and I had a thought I hadn't considered in a while..
WHAT!? in reverse is the Moshing set.....

My ultimate dream move, that I will hit before I die, is MOSHING OP WHAT!?

Talk about a gnarly toe-to-toe! Eight adds sans clipper??

I wanna go drill moshing and WHAT!? now!

I will work on it today and let you know how it goes.

Time to finish stitching Ben Joshi's bag, I was falling asleep trying to do it last night.

Love,
Tom

I just finished the end of a three day stretch of super dense days, each worth a big long post.

To make some cash before leaving for Germany my neighbor (the same one who's been having me do their yardwork) offered me a job working 9-5 at their shipping warehouse for $10/hour. I took the job and worked hard at it, it was a mix of hard work and absolutely nothing to do. I wound up stitching for a few hours over the second two days, and with their permission!

Most of the day was spent loading a container (really big metal box that is towed by an 18 wheeler) that would eventually wind up on a ship to the West Indies. Most of the people that worked there and the people coming in all had thick Jamaican/Trinidadian accents and so I got somewhat versed in understanding it. The main boss guy (Knud) is an oldschool German guy with a thickass German accent, great preparation I guess.

Oh yeah, and when I wasn't stitching and I had free time I was studying my German.

Tonight after work my family and I went to a fancy fancy restaurant and got totally stuffed on over the top food. We were out celebrating their 38th anniversary, I kept wishing them a happy Geburtstag. The reason that is funny is because my mom speaks way better German than me and knew as well as I did that that actually means birthday and not anniversary. Though I guess their anniversary is the birthday of their marriage. Hmm, I guess I just thought myself in a circle.

Speaking of circle, circle should be a real event at world's. I know it will wind up happening regardless but I just really hope that they make a big deal about it, at least as much as anything else.

Peng will be at my trainstation at 9:12 tomorrow morning to visit me for the day as the last time I see her before heading off to Germany for a few weeks. I am so happy that things have been going so well with Pengpeng and me lately. A while back we fought alot over dumb stuff but things have steadily gotten better and now we are at a sweet point where each time we get to see eachother it's real fun and we really cherrish the time. I guess what really gets both of us down is how little we get to see eachother because of the logistical constraints of travelling between us.

Anyways, all is well on that front and for that I am very glad and fortunate.

Tomorrow we are going to shred! We've both been playing a TON lately too! It's been lots of fun!

On the topic of Pengpeng and I playing together....

We have decided to compete in mixed doubles freestyle at World's!! :D 8O

I have alot of fun and cute ideas for our routine, expect it to be alot of fun, we both watch So You Think You Can Dance. 8)

I leave for Germany on Sunday, there better be a fucking party for me in Munich and then a fucking party for me in Berlin when I get there or I will be PISSED!!!

I am only half kidding! Germany, get on it!!

 Get over yourself Tom! :P

But seriously, I hear that there will be a fun shred and good times awaiting me in Munich. Max Jaeger has offered to put me up for the night and it's much appreciated. Also, once I get to Berlin I am being housed by Paul Cronjaeger... interesting name parallel.

Geezy wheezy, I need to get to work making some bags for the Germans, I already have two sweet Peng's that she gave me to bring.

I have Pengpeng tomorrow, packing saturday and flying to Germany on Sunday. Whoa!

Oh yeah, and I think I heard something about Adidas on Wednesday.. 8)

Fuck, so after typing all that I realised I still managed to leave out something really big.

On Tuesday was the biggest 905 shred ever!

Two of Jay Boychuck's shred buddies from Georgetown, a town a bit north of me, Liam and Gresham, came the shred with us. They were both totally nice kids with tons of potential. It looked like Liam was off to a really great start, he was hitting lots of interesting links, I think that links are a great indicator that someone is gaining a better mastery of the sport.

On top of those two there was also the new regulars Chad, Jay and Angele and then the slightly less new guy Hunter and then good ole skippy. We sorta spilled into my two shred areas, my deck and my garage and it worked out pretty well. At one point we were playing in a long shred line on my sidewalk since it was so nice out. The neighbors seemed to get a 'kick' out of it.

On the topic of puns, someone made an obvious, yet awesome one, regarding my situation with Adidas... They said I was a shoe in.

The session was fun, it ended with me asking Liam if there were any tricks he wanted to see hit in real life, as it was his first time seeing someone better than him play. I think the only ones I got that he requested were locomotion and ripped warrior.. maybe mullet too.. don't think so though. (though I did hit it as a request for someone the other day)

So sleepy! Bed time. :)

Yeah, WHAT?! is a lot like a symp eggbeater, just with the dexes kinda mistimed or done in the wrong order. For the record, other people have hit WHAT?! too. Pretty sure that Regamey, O'Wheel, and Matt Cross have hit it. I'm sure others could too if they were inclined.

Dude, stoked to see you at Worlds!

Good luck Tom. I'm excited to read about your adventures in the Deutschland... and which article footbag is. I took German in highschool, and have forgotten most of it, but I can catch a big portion of slow, basic conversations...

what do you mean by "is footbag der die oder das?" do you mean the bag itself or the sport?
the bag itself is der, since its a male word, even if its from englisch. cause you would call it fußsack, and sack is male. that makes the bag male, so der footbag.and for the sport, its to hard for me too think about it. ^^ i got too much munich beer last night. ^^
come get your mÃcrÖ¶ bag today
buy one of my bags and help finance my guitar lessons :)

I am in Herzogenaurach, the town where Adidas is headquartered.

I have managed to get myself into a pretty terrible situation though. I got to town fine but only to discover that eeeeeevery room in town is booked. When I found out (45 minutes ago) I had a sad moment and let the tears shed...

That story seems to be turning for the best as the guy that runs the place I am at now knows my sitch and he intends on helping me out.

My plan before finding this nice guy was to find a park to sleep in and a river to wash up in.  And that was seriously my plan, I laughed to myself picturing me putting on my fancy dress clothes for my interview in the bushes or something. Sigh, I will sort something out.

So let me catch you up on what has happened so far. I got to Munich no problem and then had that dumb drama of not knowing what to do or where to go. That turned out fine after Justin saw my stranded post and put up some phone numbers which eventually got me in contact with the Munich players. Once we were connected we had a great time! I shredded with Max and Beatrice Jaeger, Andy their new newbie and Marco Hartig. The shred was alot of fun, it was the best I'd ever seen any of them play. I think it's really cool that Max and Bea have eachother to play with, they are able to do pretty similar stuff so it must be great playing with eachother.
Also, it was my first time spending any time with either of them, they are both really nice and cool!

I was also glad to see that marco had made nice progress with his shred. Marco is a good guy, I like him because he's sorta wierd.

Andy was pretty quiet and spent most the time off to the side doing his own thing. I saw that he really needed some tips on foundation stuff so we worked on teaching him the magic hop and a bit of work on mirages and stuff. He was definitely making progress, I am really glad I took the time to teach him a bit, it looked like he really needed it. Perhaps the Munich players are too polite to just step in and tell him what to do?

After the shred we played an awesome round of foursquare, it was fun all around.

Following all that Bea escorted me back to their place where my stuff was. My feet were wretched gross from wearing my climas so I went and washed my feet in the sink. Mid-way through that Daryl Canady(NuR) showed up to pick me up. I pulled my foot out of the sink and gave him a hug. I had met him before but only pretty briefly.

I gathered my shit and we headed to his place. Man, we got along SO well! Like, right off the bat we dove into juggling and goofing off. We did some juggling passing and managed to pull off a whole pile of cool patterns. We got to his place and wound up going out to get some authentic Bavarian food. It was dense as fuck and totally awesome, I ate the shit out of it!

We went back to his place and chilled out and talked for hours. It turns out he and I get along really really well, I very much enjoyed talking with him. Also, I quite rarely wind up having tons to say to anyone, but he was just really great to talk to. He would listen and make thoughtful comments and also have good things to say. He even slept on the floor letting me have his bed! Classy.

The next day (this morning) he made us a tasty breakfast and then we headed out to have a private shred session before sending me off on a train. He took me right to my train and made sure I knew what was up, as a retard I really appreciated it.

All in all I am really appreciative that Munich was so accomodating.

Oh yeah, I should be more clear... Munich FOOTBAG PLAYERS were very helpful... any person who's job it was to give info (like maybe the guy sitting at the info desk) were total jerks to me that wouldn't help me at all. What the shit?

Anyways, THANKS MUNICH!!

So yeah, back to the present. I have a friend of the bartender calling around to every little 'pension' place asking for vacancy. A pension is like, a few extra rooms above a restaurant/bar.

I am such a lucky boy.

Oooooohhh, saying that made me think of my pengpeng and how much i miss her. She's so awesome! Daryl bought one of her bags that I brought with me, it's going to be soooo sick!

I should go um.. sort this out.

I am going to the most important meeting in footbag history tomorrow morning at 10 AM. Cheer me on bitches!!! :D
