I understand this Jeremy. But still, there doesn't need to be so much distrust between the two. And there shouldn't be.Jeremy wrote:I think you misunderstand what's going on.Switch Kicker wrote:America's not developing a new weapon. The global missile defense system is, exactly what it says. A defense system. It's not a weapon, it's a shield.Colin wrote:Russia develops new weapons in response to America developing new weapons, and you name Russia the instigator because ... ?
Russia's response is just sheer mistrust, and I think it's stupid. Or maybe just an excuse to get rilled up.
If we're developing this defense system for any reason, it's in retaliation against N. Korea's testing of nuclear devices. We don't have any problems with Russia, and now Putin's (Deliberately, I think anyway.) getting all worked up over it. Like it's some big deal.
I mean, no one can launch missiles hostilely at anyone else because of this defense system. Except for the US. Which does make it kind of unfair. But honestly, there's no fucking way Congress will EVER authorize use of nuclear devices for ANYTHING, EVER. There's no possible way 535 people are all going to be psychotic on the same day and vote to use nuclear devices to take over Russia, or the UK, or something completely bizarre like that.
Right now the US has the ability to nuke Russia. However Russia feels safe because it has the ability to nuke the US. Neither country will drop a bomb because if they do, they'll get bombed back, and who wants their country to be nuked?
However if the missile defence shield is built, and is effective then the US will have the ability to nuke Russia, but Russia will not have the ability to nuke the US. This would completely change the relationship between Russia and the US, and I'm sure you can understand why Russia would not feel comfortable about this. If Russia wants to maintain the nuclear weapon equilibrium they currently have with the US they need to develop new weapons which won't be stopped by the missile defence shield.
Is Australia Better than America?

Biased on so many levels... I'm not even going to get into that.
That didn't prove a thing. Just proves just how bad your entertainment over there is. Because that wasn't funny, and it isn't true either. You'd get straight answers from anyone and everyone around here if you asked those questions here... That was just stupid, and I suspect it was fake, staged, etc.
And that's not a dumb American... That's a dumb New Yorker, and an ignorant Texan. Go ask those questions in the Mid-West... Fuckin' biased bullshit.

Pirate dude is right, that show is clearly a joke.
That said, apparently 1 in 5 Americans don't know that the Earth revolves around the Sun and also don't know how long it takes for the Earth to revolve around the Sun.
An interesting a Gallup poll also showed that not only do 50% of Americans not believe in Evolution, but also that 24% of the same people surveyed believe that life on Earth has evolved over billions of years and God created the world less than 10,000 years ago.
Of the people who do not believe in evolution, only 14% do so for scientific reasons.
