My friend told me about a baby named Kaleb that survived shaken baby syndrome but is in critical condition. He is all over myspace and made it on the news too. I just thought I'd spread the word some more. Here is a link to one of the myspace pages...

It really doesn't seem like a scam.
The baby isn't using the internet. He can barely open his eyes. The story is that the mother was just using myspace to keep close friends updated, and a bunch of people read it and told others, and it spread.
If it is a scam, whoop de do. I wasted 5 bucks on some pathetic loser. If it isn't, then I'm glad I helped out some, because I know if I was in that position, I would be grateful for anything.

Sure it's sad, but at the risk of looking callous, it seems to me that there are many much more pressing problems in the world than one child. 1 child dies of starvation every 5 minutes. Climate change is already responsible for 150,000 people dying every year (according to the World Health Organisation). Those issues seem much more worrying than then health of one child living in one of the most affluent countries in the world.

I feel sorry for the kid, but- that's as far I'll take it. It dosn't affect me in the least. Alas, even if it isn't a scam, I don't fully understand why the family would need money. Anywhom, let's just say for the sake of being assholes that it is a scam. Just think of all the people that send said pathetic loser 5$. It starts adding up after a while. Just my own ignorant thoughts though.

Some babysitter shook the baby almost to death! She got arrested and got out on a 5,000 dollar bail while this poor kid is fighting for his life because of her. And the bills are going to be way more than 5,000 dollars whether he lives or not. Probably. I dunno. I'm sure this "babysitter" is going to lose the case and owe most or more of the money anyways.
I don't know. Maybe this story hit me harder than most of you, because I have a child of my own.
I know they didn't ask for money, but I (and thousands of others) thought I'd pitch in a little if it could help. I'd like to see the kid out of the hospital and running and playing again. He's so young.
I know it's only one kid, but it's the least I can do. I've always wanted to help out for other causes like Jeremy's been saying, but I don't have money to do that stuff every month or in large amounts yet. I plan on doing those things later when I do have money.
