Hey man, footbag can be like a roller coaster for a lot of people. You have your highs and you have your lows (watch the Eli Piltz "Undefeated" video, he says that too). It just kinda comes with the territory. On your highs you are hitting lots of new moves, your consistency is on and everything feels great. On your lows, you can't hit anything new, and even your basic feel inconsistent. Trust me I know the feeling (and I'm sure everyone else does too)

I'm sure you already know, the highs don't last forever. But neither do the lows, they pass as well. I've been through probably a dozen lows myself by now. After a while you just kinda accept that they happen and wait them out.

Some things that help me when I'm in a footbag low:
 Watch videos of yourself from a long time ago and realize how much better you are than then.
 Drill the crap out of the raw basics, 1's and 2's. This will make you feel much more consistent. 300 toe stalls booyah!
 Watch some of your favorite videos for inspiration. Everyone has their personal favorites.
 Take time off to do something else you love. For me it's usually online poker, Zangband, listening to music, going to a concert or spending time with my girl or my dog.
 If you can, have a jam or a shred session with some other people. Solo play can wear on you after a while, shredding with other people can be a big inspiration on your game. Playing with others who share your passion for the game can really make you feel great.

Everyone hits lows in their game. You just gotta weather the storm and hang in there. You'll be alright, it's just gonna take time. Like it says in Matt's sig, never give up.

Thanks for the kind words guys. They meant a lot when I read them and encouraged me to play more often. Or at least try to. 8 P I played today for the first time since Wednesday but I did play Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of last week. Today was my first session in Climas and I love them. Every joint feels as if I haven't played in two weeks which is what I was hoping for. No shin splints, no sore knees, nothing painful except for my abs, which is simply from Atomics.

I won't say that the session was good compared to past "good" sessions if that makes sense. But it was good in the sense that it was my first session in Climas ever and I had a brand new bag from Matt Cross. The bag is beautiful and damn near perfect I might add. That logo is fucking awesome. It's just a tad on the light side but it's nothing huge.

I hit some good things though. I need to work on my Flip Clipper and Flip Infinity form in Climas, but the toes were no problem for me which is something I was worried about. I worked on my Sick 3, no real luck though unfortunately. Tried some Drifters, Whirls, Illusions, and Dynos. I footed Atomic Opposite Illusion 3 times but never sealed it unfortunately. It was the longest session I've had since I played with Josh though so it was satisfying.

I finally got my license yesterday and drove around all day with Renee today. It was awesome. We took a nap together for four hours yesterday and about an hour today. I'm really loving spending time with her which can happen more often now that I have a car. I have to go to Michigan from the 21st to the 25th unfortunately. I don't really want to go anywhere right now. Work is going really well. I'm making a good amount of money though it's all being paid to my mother because she's hanging stupid shit over my head and I haven't been able to spend a penny of my own money. But all in all, it's going really well right now. I might be putting out a video in the near future?

grats!! cars are fun!!

climas are soooo nice. ive been trying to go back to lavers every now and then, but i get shinsplints, so i say "fuck dat shiz" and then forget, and try shredding in lavers soon after. you should just wear your climas for shred. they wear down too fast to wear them everywhere. or get two pairs.

naps rock.

looking forward to meeting you at worlds, hope your climas are broke in by then. we can have a clima circle with me, you, holly, chan, and mosher. itll be tits. our shoes will smell so bad!

give josh a knuckle pound for me.

hey buddy, if your new MC bag is too light, get some heavy fill from a dead bag of yours, and smush it in there through the bleed hole between two hexes :) glad you like the bag. I liked it, too. glad the logo is going over well. I drew it one day in class in my first semester back in college, and I just decided to start putting it on my bags.

Thanks guys!

Brian- Hell yeah man, I love them. We'll definitely have to have a Clima circle at Worlds. Naps are definitely the shit. So relaxing, especially when spent with your significant other. ^_^ I'll definitely give him one when I see him man.

Erik- I'm 18. My birthday was January 15th. I just bought the new Kamleot album but haven't had time to listen to it yet.

Mathieu- Thanks man. I'll probably put it out as soon as I get some decent strings and combos down.

Matt- Thanks a bunch man. I do love it. The colors are so rich too. I'll definitely end up putting some more weight in it but not a lot. Like it said, it was damn near perfect. ; )

So, I had work today and then went to spend some time with Renee before I leave for Michigan tomorrow. It was fun. I bought her some clothes yesterday and the skirt didn't really fit so we took it to get tailored to her. Only $15, not bad at all. She's going to wear it to Rocky next week. I'm so looking forward to next week. Our two month is actually tomorrow so we kind of celebrated that today. Not much though. These months have gone by rediculously fast. I'm loving life right now... with exception to the bullshit my mother is hanging over my head money-wise.

Ha, I know what you mean Holly. I should clarify that we weren't really celebrating. It's just a joke we had about 2 months from earlier in the relationship.

Yesterday was alright. Not much really. Saw my sister and my other brother for the first time in a long time. Same with my two nieces and nephew. We all just hung out for several hours. My brothers and I went to Pinball Pete's around 11ish and just played pinball, pool, and airhockey. I came the closest that I ever have come to winning a game of pool. I missed an easy shot on the 8 ball though and my brother got it in. I owned both of them multiple times at airhockey though. I'm a beast at airhockey. In fact, I issue a challenge to anyone who wants to play me in airhockey at Worlds. 8 P

We had fun though. I'm still wishing I was back in Raleigh but next week will be so kick ass that it will be worth the wait. First thing I'm doing when I get back is going to see Renee. 8 P Good stuff, later. :D

This week has been wild. Got back from Michigan around 4 on Monday and went to chill with Renee. We went to go drive around and while leaving her place I got in an accident. Nothing bad. Nobody hurt thankfully, but it will suck up more money that I don't have. So my mother has of course added the cost to what she calls "my tab". I find it funny that she holds so much shit over my head, I'm not refering to the wreck costs here, and still proceeds to bitch about giving me money for food of all things. I get paid tomorrow but She's only getting a fourth of it because I need the money for gas, food, and Worlds.

Had my first session since, wow, last Tuesday. It went spectacularly. o_O I hit some new drills/links/moves. Climas are wonderful, I played for an hour today, surprisingly, and my feet/knees feel as if I just woke up. I'm just going to list my highlights though as that won't take as long.

 100 Toe Stalls. I've only done this once and not in Climas so I thought it would be a good way to get used to my monster toe.
 Illusion>Mirage both sides. Never hit that before. Especially Flipside.
 Reactor on Strong Side first try. Came close to Flip but didn't get it.
 Butterfly>Dyno>Rpt.
 Flip Far Stomping Dyno :!: First time I've hit that and I've been attempting it for months now.
 Paradox Mirage>Toe Same Side Dyno>Rpt.
 Ducking Clipper back to back.
 Footed Paradox Whirl back to back. Was so close though! >_<
 Footed my Sick 3.
 More that I can't remember.

My brother's girlfriend moves to Vancouver tomorrow morning so we're having a going away party starting at 8:30 at a club in Chapel Hill until 10:30 at which point it will move to a club in Durham until 4 am and then everyone is taking her to the airport to bid farewell. I'll only be able to go to the 8:30 to !0:30 bit but it will be fun. I'm taking Renee.

And then tomorrow Renee and I are going to the Rocky Horror Picture Show again. She's going to wear the clothes I bought her. Holy hell she is beautiful in them. Looking forward to a good 2 days.

Later.

Sweet highlights broseph!!

I really like how you are hitting BOP drills with dynos and BSOSing them. That is real smart shredding.

Ducking clip b2b is sweet!!! I've been schooling ducking a lot myself too lately. Trying to get more than 2 ducking clips is troubling for me for some reason. Here are a couple fun ducking clip drills for you to try:
Ducking Clip > Osis > Inifinity [RPT]
Infinity > Infinity > Ducking Clip [RPT]

I've only hit the second one, mostly because I'm still schooling hitting stuff other than mirage out of osis.

And you are doing PDX whirls now? Tiiiight. Go for Tomahawk.

Glad to see you will be entering the online comps again. I want to see those Climas. I need to put something together myself. I will make the whirl video for you today, or at least film it, capturing it and uploading it might be another couple days.

Sorry to hear about the mom drama. Once you move out it gets better trust me. My mom used to do similar stuff, always wanting a cut for this or that. Now that I'm on my own she offers to give me money for things... and I make good money and support myself now!... who knows...

Have fun at RHPS :D

So much is happening lately. I won't be going to Worlds, as stated above. I started planning for this trip on November 18th of last year when I first saw the Event listing on .Org. I remember printing out the listing and literally everyday since then I have had that print out in my back pocket. I still have it right now. But due to my financial situation I can't, or I should say won't, attend. My mother, damnit do I hate her, has sucked all of the luster out of this trip. She has been sucking up my money left and right, knowing that I need funds for Worlds, and I am left literally broke.

She has offered to "loan" me money for Worlds, which I unhesitatingly refused. I don't want to have to pay her half of my paycheck for the next fucking year, and I shouldn't have to. I don't know whether she's doing this intentionally or not but I honestly don't give a damn. I simply hate it. If I didn't depend on her financially, I don't make near enough money to pay for my phone bill and taxes aqnd shit like that, I would live in my car and take showers and such at friends houses. I have plenty of them who are more than willing to do that for me.

I don't know. I may sound like a whiny little bitch right now but she has completely ruined this trip for me. I'll see everyone at NYJ in Chicago though.

I also got a ticket Sunday night. According to the cop I ran a Stop Sign which is completely untrue. When he came around the corner I had already stopped for about 5 seconds and was proceeding to pull into the lane, and considering the time he came around that corner made it look like I had rolled the Stop Sign. Meh, the fine was $160 but I'm going to fight this shit. I stopped, end of story.

On a lighter note, it was a good feeling having one of the judges rank my Sick 1 entry as fourth, in Open no less! 8O I was really proud of that entry and I'm glad I submitted it.

Take it easy everybody.

I think I'll play today. I might play with Aric if he feels up to it. If not I'll just do solo. Might film a bit as well. I'm going to try Flux just for kicks. I want to clean up my Atomic a bit too. Try for Flip Reactor? Maybe Atomic Opposite Illusion. We'll see.

So I'm going to court on August 3rd to fight that ticket. $25 court fee versus a $160 bullshit fine? I'll take my chances. Update on the session later this evening.

Thanks for the support Matt. I'll definitely fight it to the last.

I wasn't able to play today. It started pouring this afternoon and seeing as how I'm low on gas and empty on money I couldn't go anywhere to shred.

Plus it's probably a good thing. Last Friday Renee and I were going to Rocky again, I think her third or fourth time, and her knee was acting up so I had her on my back. I was walking down the street towards the Rialto and it was dark so I didn't see the hole in the sidewalk and rolled my bad ankle, the one I injured in February. I had her on my back too so I fell so she wouldn't get hurt and just land on her feet which she did, but unfortunately that made the situation worse for my ankle. It's still a little sore and acts up once in a while but overall it's better. I probably should still take it easy though.

Holy shit. I hadn't had a session since June 28th!? Wow. I'm disappointed in myself. I played today though. And I actually played for fifteen minutes at Southpoint mall with Renee on Wednesday. I managed Atomic Same Side Dyno in front of a small crowd and got a few bits of appluase and cheers.

Today was awesome though. I hit some cool, uncharacteristic runs. One was completely Toe Tiltless, which I never do. It was interesting and surprisingly rewarding. I also hit some new shit though.

 Paradox Whirl back to back FINALLY. On camera too.
 Blur both sides.

Anyways, I'll be signing up for an ADHD study in which I'll make quite a bit of money off of. At least $500. That'll be sweet. School starts soon. And I go to court on the 3rd. Renee is going to Ocean City today until Wednesday so I'm going to miss her like crazy. As of this Saturday we'll have been going out for three months. Hot damn. It sure doesn't feel like it. We're planning a trip to Busch Gardens for the weekend right before Halloween. It'll be fucking awesome. I can't wait.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Nice stuff, Alan :)
I like reading about your non-footbag stuff too.
Don't forget to school your basics like crazy.
Challenge:

clipper-set mirage > mirage > sameside clipper [repeat] >
pdx mirage > sameside mirage > sameside clipper [repeat]

bubba > illusion > sameside clipper [repeat] >
pdx illusion > sameside illusion > sameside clipper [repeat]

far legover > legover > clipper [repeat] >
sameside legover > sameside legover > clipper [repeat]

far pickup > pickup > clipper [repeat] >
sameside pickup > sameside pickup > clipper [repeat]

And then all back-to-back.

Thanks man. They're on my list now. 8 P

Saturday, was unpleasant. Played for about 30 minutes before work. Did really well honestly but during an attempt at Reactor I rolled my bad ankle, the one I injured in February. It... hurt. It's better now, for drilling at least, but I'm going to take it easy. After that I had to go into work at three. We had inventory that night as well so I was at work until two in the morning. Not bad though. We got free Chinese. I live and die for Sesame Chicken so that was awesome.

Then yesterday I had to work from Eleven in the morning until close at six. So I was pretty exhausted. Add to that I got at most half an hour of sleep last night. Meh. I feel like going to the gym and running for a while and then shredding. We'll see though. I've got other shit to do today.

Still waiting for Wednesday. Holy hell do I miss Renee. I'm so bored and lonely without her. Might go to Rocky with her this coming Friday. Not set in stone yet though so once again, we'll see. My parents are going to Colorado this Wednesday and won't be back until Saturday night so I'll be all by my lonesome. Might be fun, might not be. Whatever.

As it turns out as well, Seeing as how I work in Retail, there is a blackout period where we can't take any vacations other than our normal days off from Black Friday until the first of the new year, which means I'll be missing NYJ and YEAH. Damnit. I'll have a shitload of money afterward though so expect me at some semblance of a jam or event in the late Winter/early Spring of next year.

Anyways, I'm going to go figure out what I'm going to do.

Hope all is well with everybody.

Hey man - sorry about your ticket - I was just arrested on the 23rd for (what seems to me anyways) false charges. I'm pretty much in the dark about what's going to happen (dropped charges, probation, or serving jail time) for the time being... my court date is on Aug. 27th, which is *after* I start back at ECU. Anyways, I'm in town for a while so if you want to shred I'm definitely more than willing to, although I haven't played in a while.
