I read in New Scientist recently that in a controlled experiment, some people drinking diet coke and some people drinking regular coke, the diet coke people put on more weight than the regular coke people. Apparently the calorie difference is very small, but people who drink diet coke tend to think it means they can eat more in other areas.

I wouldn't call it a pet peeve, but rather a complete loss of any respect directed at homophobes and intolerant people like you. That's disgraceful. While I'm not gay, I have close friends who are, and you insulting them because of the way they choose to live, or the concept the women should be freely able to ride motorcycles is so primitive. Take a look at the world. It is intolerant people like you who are causing all the problems everywhere.

Most offensive and thoughtless comment in this thread?

EDIT: I think Fred said something about ppl who like to remind everyone how drunk they are. Thats pretty annoying. OK so when youre 15 its cool to see who gets drunk the fastest but when you're like 22 its not cool anymore. I have more respect for people who can drink alot without showing it too much, or at the very least dont walk into a conversation and say 'Im SOOOO smashed right now!' WTF cares? It makes you look foolish.

I dont think she is trying to be serious in that statement. I didnt take it serious. I just laughed and brushed it off. It ryhmes how can you take anything seriously when it rhymes

also jrstubs to euthanize means to assist in suicide. I dont think handicapped people want to kill themselves. so basically you want to have a handicapped genocide you Hitler wanna be.

Yeah, there's a niffty (by niffty, I mean pointless and stupid) little button you can use now Jeremy. I personally don't read your posts anymore because I find myself arguing with you no matter what it's about, but I'm not going to use that button, heh. Have fun thinking you're smart.

Back on topic.

-Jeremy
-Things Jeremy says
-Jeremy's thoughts and opinions
-Jeremy's parents for raising him to be the way he is
-Jeremy's twin because he looks like Jeremy

Even more on topic.

-Two different brands of batteries in a remote. One Duracell and one Energizer... strikes a nerve with me.
-Dust on a tv screen.
-Bad mice. (Computer mice.. a mouse... you know?)
-People who listen to MIMS and T-Pain religiously like it's actually a form of art or something.
-Poker. I really don't understand why, but when I see someone playing poker in a movie, or on those poker shows... I just hate it.

Not to be a pretentious dick or anything (or ganging up on you in general), but I found these two particular comments offensive to me. I didn't notice it until Ian pointed it out in quotes on this page. I would like to stress the second comment more than the first; the first just doesn't really make sense to me in general. As for the second comment:

On several occasions during my trek to college, as well as riding public transport to and from my destinations, I would see a group of mentally handicapped people on a field trip with social workers. They would come by around my household and neighborhood to check the area and visit the local church. They would also come around the cafe near my house to eat lunch. They vary in age and appearance as well.

It's hard not to look at them, and even harder to try to ignore them. In fact, one of the professors in my college, whom I adore and respect (a recent graduate of Cornell college) has a brother-in-law who is severely mentally handicapped, to the point that he has the psyche of a 12 year-old boy at age 40-something. My professor is a teacher of Classical Greek Ethics, and educates under several other philosophy courses in my college. He mainly abides to the teachings of Aristotlean logic, and stresses that everyone that lives in this world can live a happy life, though each person does have a limit in which he/she can achieve the ultimate good. I saw him break into tears as he tried to explain this once, using his brother-in-law as an example.

Relative to the term retard, I also have a few physically retarded friends. One of friends, who couldn't walk since birth, graduated with a degree in Biology just last year. There is a girl from my high school, who goes to my college since I enrolled, is no larger than a healthy 3 year-old child and is doing extremely well (even better than I am) at her studies. I see her from time to time, even chatted with her once, as I walk by the hallways at Hunter college as she rides her motorized wheelchair. She's a well-spirited individual with a very determined outlook in her life.

Also, my grandmother will be turning 90 years old this year. She's been going in and out of the hospital since I've known her from birth, and everything has been so complicated. She suffered strokes, falling, arthritis in her joints - anything that an elderly person can potentially suffer through at her age. However, it can be said that she is the most joyous person to walk this earth, lighting up a room full of people with her optomism, and always bringing a smile to my heart every time I meet her.

Andrew, I doubt you meant any ill will in your comment there, but I just wanted to point out a flaw in the perception you gave: every person has a right to live, eventhough most people don't regard 'death' in the same respect as living. Life can't be perfect, I'm sure you understand that. Nothing can be absolute, and people oftentimes value some things more than others. Letting go any or all of your attachments in this world isn't a simple thing to do.

As for the first comment: I use sarcasm, but sarcasm is supposedly used jokingly imo. I think it lightens up the atmosphere if used properly. My college buddies love to use sarcasm to joke me around, and visa versa. I think life would be completely mundane if I had to talk like a robot to any person I interact with. Telling an obvious white lie can't hurt people unless it's coincidental, but even that is farfetched. Sarcasm is just a knowledgeable way of misleading people, and misleading your friends can always be a fun thing to do. :)

In any case, I didn't mean to put you down or anything. If any, the time that we would finally meet at a footbag tournament/event/jam/kicky session, you can openly joke about me an my emo-like haircut. I'm a pretty open minded person. :P

Why? Because girls shouldn't be doing what guys do? People like you are the reason girls are still paid 20% less than guys working in the exact same job.

You're making a lot of assumptions and coming to some wild conclusions. People like Holly are causing all the problems everywhere? Come on. Even if it's in regard to something you're passionate about, throwing around baseless accusations like that is rude shows a distinct lack of tact. Take a few moments next time and come up with a better way to address it.

you think i think girls shouldnt be doing what guys do? heeellllllooooo... im in a sport that guys are the majority. also, almost all of my friends are guys. im not a feminist but i do believe in womens rights. i dont feel like women have to set themselves apart to feel like one of the guys... (i.e. dykes on bikes set themselves apart so they can be treated like males on bikes.) sure, women are equal to men... but i dont feel like every woman has to protest or become part of a motorcycle gang. im treated equal to all males around me... at work, shred, home, and general public. women dont have to protest or make a big deal about someone not treating them equal... all they have to do is find cooler people to be around.

You haven't explained why you think an all girl motorcycle gang is worse than a non gender specific or male motorcycle gang. Why is the gender of people in a motorcycle gang specifically a bad thing?

When somebody tells me to calm down when I'm calm. It makes me angry beyond belief.

I agree with others. When I go to the fridge and there's no milk I just wanna curl up and die.

You're oblivious dude. It's not the fact that they are women riding motorcycles... Which you seem to think it is.
