damn, that leaf one WAS a good pic.

To be honest, I've never understood what made a good photo. I understand ones like the leaf one but... when it comes to, say, photographing flowers... I'm lost. They all look fairly similar to me

And of course ones like tsiangkun's are fantastic cause of the location.

to a nature photographer, that quip about photographing flowers sounds really ignorant. it reminds me of someone saying everyone of a certain race looks the same

try taking a look at my tree photography, then get back to me and tell me whether or not they all look the same ...

art is a subjective field. some is about beauty, some is documentary, some is metaphorical or symbolic. some of it you won't get, and some of it you will.

there is simplicity in complexity, and there is complexity in simplicity.

there are many ways and angles (literally and metaphorically) to photograph a flower. perhaps you just haven't seen an angle that sees through the flower to the one who gives it life ... i believe you'd like one like that

Dude I wasn't insulting you, perhaps I should've worded it better but I was trying to make the point that I was ignorant. Obviously nature photography is not all the same.

And if that last quip was about God, well I don't really beleive in him anymore, so, yeah

That sentence implies that such a thing as good and bad photos do exist...

i didn't respond personally, i responded on behalf of those folks who choose to photograph lots of flowers (which i don't really enjoy much either btw).
the links to my own photography were just an example of how a photographer can find joy and depth in focusing on a particular subject matter ... i can see how you could of thought that i was insulted, but i'm honestly not man

.

and i'm sincerely sorry to hear that you don't really believe in God anymore ... i emphasised the really, because unlike many, it insinuates that you will keep an open mind and heart regarding His presence.
often happens to people who have been brought up in the mix of organised religion it seems ... i pray that you find that ever abstract Creator presence somewhere along the path that you now choose.

this one was taken on the same day. it's very chaotic, but i must like something about it, right!?

it's called spider's beautiful chaos ... and the glowing bubbles of light come from sunlight through droplets of water clinging to an acacia on a misty morning.

thanks tsiangkun, your positive comments mean a great deal to me.
you certainly come accross as someone who has both spent a lot of time in, and has an intimate connection to, nature and wilderness. i'm glad that you can find inspiration in the miniature worlds, details, symbols, and moments that i communicate through my photography.

i'd really like to see some of USA's natural places some day ... like australia, it seems like you have a very diverse array of amazing natural landscapes, climates, and environments.

and lastly, vernal waterfall looks stunning. i really like the beautifully vivid colouration on the rockface, and the sheer volume of water hammering over there ... must have been quite a roar

I don't know how much 1000 polish is worth, because they changed to Euros.
The chinese are worth 1.31 $ and the other are 26 cent.
