You're going to make me grey worrying about you!

But I love you.

I got a fancy red razor scooter today when I went to the toy store. It was on sale and I had to have it. I zipped around on it today. FUN!

Come back soon! Take CARE of yourself and call me ASAP! Good luck tomorrow... erm... today... um... I don't know the time difference.

Please tell me you didn't sleep in the park and you got to the interview without a hitch. Call me already! I didn't get you a phone card for nothing!

It was dense as fuck and totally awesome, I ate the shit out of it!
'Man I prayed so hard, I prayed the shit out of that prayer'

Or something like that. Anyway, Tom, the hearts and thoughts of the 905 SHRED CREW are with you for your meeting. We had a shred session last night without you, and it was really successful! Angele made a personal best with her consec back and forth toe stalls, and everybody learned some good terminology. I hit a new trick, too! Gyro symp mirage!! Anyway, I know this isn't the 905 blog, so I won't really waste any more space in here...I just thought I'd let you know. You've got sooo much to be proud of yourself for, but you can actually be proud of yourself for getting this shred crew started too. In such a short amount of time, you've gotten together more than one person who are really into footbag in this area, which has never gone down before ( as far as I know ) and now we don't even need our mentor to have sessions, which meansthat the crew will stay together, even if you're not in town come September, which ULTIMATELY means, more people are into footbag. Thanks a lot, big guy.

I think that is all. Good luck on your interview today, buddy....I'm blazing in your honour. :P

Thanks for all the kind notes footbag friends!!

So let me catch you up a bit..

My ass wound up being saved by a guy that works for Adidas (actually the head of their hoity toity fashion end of things) who had just coincidentally gone into the same place I was when I made that last worrisome post.

His name was Gösta Hirche and after hours of trying to find me a place to stay he wound up offering for me to come to his place to crash and get cleaned up. Not only that, but he also covered my whole tab at the bar, which he had sorta also encouraged to grow. :P

I was sooooo glad to be able to get cleaned up and to have a proper start to my most important day of my life. On that note it is worth returning to the fact that Gösta bought me so many beers... The morning of the most important anything I've done ever.... I totally had to get up from breakfast and just barely make it to the toilet in time to rip out two blasts of barf!! I made a mess of the toilet and actually frigging cleaned it all up, while wearing my fancy crisp new white dress shirt and everything. Anyways, that helped alot.

We drove to the headquarters together and he dropped me off at the doors. I went in, reception informed the intern who I was applying to replace that I had arrived and she gave me a visitor name badge. I smiled wide seeing my name next to the Adidas logo.

The intern (Alex) led me in and to meet mister big boss man of the department who I'd be working under/being interviewed by. Turns out he's a witty brittish guy that I wound up quite liking.

The interview started basically right away, we were just seated at a cafeteria table and moreso chatting than really serious grilling. Man, he had so many cool things to say! I got to hear all about the different things that they do and what I'd be doing. I learned soooo much about the logistics and processes of shoe making. It's really intense, for better and for worse.

After the 'formal' interviewing part was done I got taken on a big ass tour of all their top secret everythings. It was amazing. There are shoes bursting out of FUCKING EVERYWHERE!!!!!! And like, basically all the ones you'd see around either juuuuust came out or won't be coming out for 2 years. There were all sorts of giant futuristic display areas and all different kinds of departments working on every aspect of shoes.

I was stoked to learn in more detail that the department I was going for was their cool fringe one where they do the not so mainstream stuff like parkour and capoeira and even sepak takraw shoes!

Beyond just the shoes the whole place was amazing. You really have the freedom to do aaaaany kind of crazy sport you want to do, and not just that, if I wanted to start up a footbag club they'd give me funding and space and equipment and anything I need. So the facilities were all top notch, work out areas and yoga stuff and whatever, but what was really cool were the people that work there! The average age was about 25, and all the people just seemed to be interesting and motivated people from all around the world. It seemed about 50% german and the rest was like 54 other nations.

Following the interview and the tour I wound up being asked to show off with some footbag for some interns/designers. They reallz liked it and a bunch of them wound up trying out some stalls. Part way through all that the boss (Adrian) came along (on his way to the archery range he started at the site) and checked out the shred and talked with me a bit more hands on about the shoes. It was so nice to have someone who really cares about that stuff listen to the things I was saying.

I got along with everyone really well and they all made me feel very welcome. It seems like the people that work there really enjoy it and I can imagine why.

Anyways, after all that I thanked Didi (the intern who contacted me forever ago that started all of this in motion) and hopped in a cab to the train station.

Since Adidas was picking up the tab on my travels within Germany I went first class. 8) Though I did feel sorta guilty later because it wasn't really that special, just twice the cost. It was nice feeling like a highroller though.

My train ride to Berlin was smooth and easy. Since getting here it's been pretty non-stop silly fun.

Yesterday was a fuuull day of activity!

It involved biking all around the city from thing to thing to thing and doing quite a bit of physical stuff at each place. Those places were footbag training (where I shredded possibly my best ever, playing mostly with paul and yves) then to a ping pong bar (where 15 or so people run around the table, being eliminated as you fuck up and drinking beer until the next round) and then to an under-bridge dance party that was eventually busted by the police at 4 AM or something. And then of course biking home from there.

On the topic of bikes..... TODAY I GET TO RIDE FIXED IN BERLIN!!!! Ive been day dreaming of this for months!! I am meeting up with Rene Ruhr, he will be loaning me his fixie while I am here. Also, so that he can ride fixed too I will be heading to his place today to help him build up his new one he is working on. Ive seen like.. 5 fixies in berlin so far. The first was for sure the sexiest bike Ive ever seen in person. I also got to meet the rider and talk a bit with him, he was as stylish as his bike. :P

Okay, so I have a fun day of fixed gear bike stuff ahead of me so I should be off.

Auch, mein deutsch ist jetzt ein bisschen besser. .. oder etwas..

Oh yeah, and to end this on an encouraging note, basically everything they said seemed to imlpy that the interview went really well and that so far I was the most likely successor. In fact, the intern kept accidentally calling me his successor and then having to politely add in 'potential' so as to not imply too strongly. :)

Ah! One more thing! I found out that the newest super star stitcher from Berlin is none other than Yves Kreil and to my surpise I found out that he learned to stitch from someone I taught to stitch last year when I was in Berlin!! 8)

I will update this again sometime soon. :)

Okay, time for another little update.

My visit with Rene Ruhr was real nice, we spent hours and hours building basically his whole bike. We even laced the rear wheel! It was new to both of us but definitely fun. Also, we both liked that the final lacing bit involved 'over-over-under' which to us said 'double over down'. :P

We had a shred and the evening light was perfect for shred, not too intense and with no shadows. I was playing in my black lavers because I hadn't expected to be shredding, I can soooorta play in them but I'm not so hot on toe shuffle with them. He told me I was the first person to play footbag with him out at his families house. I wound up staying the night and we had a nice dinner and breakfast that his mom made for us. THeir place is just outside of Berlin, it was a real old looking house on a dirt road but inside it was so nice and colourful and.. woody. I really enjoyed my stay. :)

I spent my day yesterday zipping around town on my track bike. My main intent was to make it to the two cool track bike stores in town. I made it to the first one no problem, it's called Keirin Berlin and every direction I looked my brain melted down from overload. I had never seen more than one track bike in person at a time and then there there were dozens of them and all the fancy shit that goes with them. mmmmmm so pure....

I spent the next million hours trying to work my way over to the second store. It took me basically all afternoon as I fucked up like twenty times, I even accidentally saw the Brandenburg gate. :P I eventually found the store.. and they were closed on monday's.

I have also been stitching here alooot! I made a bag for Paul last night from 1 - 3 AM and then this morning I made a bag for Shirine Daouk, technically meaning I've already made two bags today.

The other day we had a sweet shred, it was me, Paul C, Max K, Mathias L-S. Everyone hit some cool stuff and it was alot of fun. We played with my black and white pengpeng that is getting soooooo sick. My only highlight was finally hitting blurry whirl>stepping whirl>rpt, and in lavers too!

Oh yeah, I can shred in my white lavers now, yay! I think tonight at training I will be playing in them again. The Berlin club has three weekly footbag meeting times and like.. lots of freestyle and net people come out. It's such a cool scene here. Also, Berlin is FOR SURE the coolest city in the world.

To end the session the other day, max hit a beast (fury>fusion>food) second try into a long string, cool eh?

Time to get ready for training! 8)

PS I miss Pengpeng Du

Well I'm not as keen about reading as I am about playing footbag but I still managed to take in bits of your huge posts. I'd rather hear your stories in person or on the phone. I miss yah buddy. Call me soon. I FRIGGIN MISS YOU!!! Oh yah, I have a special footbag pattern for you! It might blow your mind.

I made it back!

What an incredible trip! I will post some of the sweet pictures I took and write more then.

Amazingly, I didn't fuck up and miss ANY of my connections on this trip.

It's 8:18 PM here in Oakville right now, I've been up since 4:30 AM Berlin time.. which is like 10 PM yesterday or something. Anyways, I am a sleepy boy.

THANK YOU BERLIIIIIIN!!!! :D 8)
