I forgot to add from the last post that I hit blur out of osis bs and then bsos. It was something I knew I could do but never tried. I wanted to wait till my stepping set was high enough on my strong side.
Had a session at the Manlius Park of No Shade. My Aiden bag got a huge hole in it so I had to stop playing with it about a half an hour through and that kinda freaked me out because the Cross bag isn't quite broken in yet and the style makes it difficult for me to shred with it till it's fully broken in. Or else I'm just not good enough. Whatever. So I broke out the Rea 12 and found it was more than up for the challenge of keeping me busy for the next hour and a half.
Again - not the best string day. Just did a lot of short bursts of RAW ENERGY.
1) sidewalk > drifter > sidewalk > drifter
2) pixie ss mirage back to back - Huge for me. It seems a bit easy for some of the other things I'm hitting but um. Trust me. That's just how bad my flip pixie is. I started it on my flipside too so that was important. This is pretty much now the most important drill I have to do right now.
3) footed backside smudge. Yay.
4) footed veritgo and on my flip. Yay'er.
5) atom smasher bsos and lots of taps mid-string. Yay'est.
6) sidewalk > drifter > spinning pdx mirage > string.
My pixies were very solid today as were my whirls, but as I said, there were no strings more than 7 contacts.
Might be going to Buffalo tomorrow. If not, Ben doesn't have work so I'm gonna give him a call and see if he wants to book it to the Square or else just find somewhere in our area to play. Should be plain ol' fun.

yeah I see what you mean. And if you have to get back by 10 then it'd be best if we just stick around here. I really shouldn't be using up so much money on gas when I've got all these CDs and a wii I'm thinking of getting. I made a new tshirt today. I don't think I've posted about that yet. Yeah making my own designs on shirts is my new thing. See pretty much no matter what you wear these days someone will label you. And I hate it. I hate labels. So what I've decided to do is not spend 15 dollars on a shirt that says something like "Don't make me go Zelda on you" . . . expressing my personality or some bull. I like band tshirts. I have a lot. But that's it. I'm done with logos and these custom goofy logo shirts. . unless I make them myself. So I go to Target or Walmart and get shirts for like 5 bucks and spray paint designs or just color them weirdly. The pictures of me that Ben posted in the page before this is actually a shirt I made with the Crass logo. Crass was an Anarcho punk band from the 70s and 80s. I'm not an anarchist. I just like a few Crass songs and the logo is pretty badass.
Anyway it's about time for me to go to bed. I have work tomorrow. I'm really paranoid and on edge right now, though. I just saw 1408, that movie based on the Stephen King short story with John Cusack and Sammy Jackson. Great movie. But it just unsettled me and my buds and then we came back to find my garage door open with the lights on. We were convinced for about 10 minutes someone was in the house so we searched all the rooms and all the closets screaming "Come out you fucking NAZI!!!!!). And I'm still freaking out. I'm pretty sure I just heard something downstairs as I've been typing this and I have my back facing the stairs to my living room - a good place for an ambush with a steak knife (which there are plenty of on the way from the living room to the kitchen to the stairs). So I'm blasting some music on my computer and ignoring the urge to sleep with a bat.
Yes. I'm 20.
It's a good movie. Go see it. But close your garage door before going and go back home for a bit with two military students who outweigh you by 30 or 40 pounds. It helps.

That's what skateboarding movies with Tony Hawk and Bam Margarine cameos have taught me over the years since 2002. Oh and also Simple Plan is the greatest Punk Rock band ever. crazy long session with Ben Rea and Doug Tank. I wasn't feeling 100% of my game but I still had a blast and there were some nutty strings from all three of us.
too tired to really write up a whole big post about it though it'd be worth it, but I hit barfly and then footed blurriest. Assassin was also hit cleanly and un-raked. Hatchet again. Barfry a couple more times - getting easier. A good flip nuclear set or two.

Today's been a hoot. Was over at a friends house for a bit of a party and we didn't go to sleep till about 5 or 6am. Then we woke up and went to a diner in town and I went on another search for a wii with a few buddies.
There's a thing in the paper today about the wii shortage. It's actually like worldwide. Apparently the wii has been selling more than double that of 360 or ps3 in the past 6 months and they haven't been able to keep up with demand. So they're going to try and build a new factory or two. The president of Nintendo says that the shortage itself will more than likely go on till the summer of next year. I think I have the shipping schedule down at the local Best Buy and if they're getting new ones they'll come in tomorrow morning. So I'll try and do that if I wake up early enough.
So I've been kinda off all day today - but decided my legs are recovered enough for a session at the park. So I went but decided I was way too worn out and I can't find my shoe goo to patch up my bag. . . again. So that was a weight on the mind. Started off on a bad note, really. But what surprised me were my strings today. I was playing well. It's just the will wasn't there. I hit symp far reverse whirl a couple times and tried to tweak my method a bit to see if I could get it as energy efficient as possible. I think it'll work out well enough.
I hit a bunch of gyro stuff and vortex made an appearance even when I was all foggy and dizzy from sleep dep. I could still spot the bag. Pixies were pretty solid on both sides and I was able to do my pixie ss mirage b2b a couple times again. My flip felt like I could've hit catacomb again but I didn't really want to try it. I was pretty much done by the time I had warmed up my pixies. So I slapped on my shorts and went back to the car. Whatever. I need sleep.
yesterday I went to the Jazz Fest at OCC and saw Bela Fleck and company. They were pretty cool. Lots of hippies there last night. It was nuts. I hacked with a bunch of random people who had brought a box of red wine and were sitting on top of a hill drinking wine and hackin' da sack. I spotted them a mile away and ran up to them to ask if I could play - with vans. So we had some fun and this one guy, Kevin, got really excited when I told him about footbag and showed him a couple ducking clippers and an osis. So I gave him the usual: "Go to freedomfootbags.com, footbag.org, and modified.in. There you will find what it is you seek" and he was very happy. He lives in Ithica. So if there's a guy named kevin who's from Ithica or thereabouts who signs up here at modified in a couple weeks I wouldn't be surprised.
Anyway I'm off. I'm going to go and watch some shitty television with a big glass of chocolate milk and waste myself into sleep. I'm going to go to Rochester tomorrow for a jam with some RFA players. That should be fun. Haven't had a shred at RIT in. . . well. Probably since the first GRASS the first year I played. It's been quite a while.
I'm trying to learn a few simple old punk songs on the guitar. I suck at guitar. But while my friend continues to leave his AXE in my living room I shall pluck and strum. I almost have the intro down to a Damned song called New Rose and this afternoon I looked up the intro chords to a Descendants song called I'm Not a Loser. I'll probably be working on that while I rot on the couch. huRrYay for three-chord punk songs!

precision stalls. Yeah I'm doing better with that. I played with your bag last session for a while and found I just needed to get used to it, like I thought. It's just got a different feel. But I was able to do like 10 osis easily back to back with it so I mean. . . it can't be that unbroken in if I can do that, right? Right. Anyway no worries. I'm just going to play with it more.

But that's what I need - motivation to really take my game up a level instead of being more or less content to remain hitting the same old sets and links. What I'm doing now is helping with string length and overall comfort with the bag but. . only so long this can last before I fall behind in the game and I won't have the time I need to get to where I want.

Doug doug doug. . . when I hit blurriest it's gonna be in your face at the end of one of my off balance strings where I'm moving closer and closer to you for some reason and then all of a sudden you won't even see it comin' - BLURRIEST!!!!!!!!11111111 the shockwave of it will knock the blunt object you have at the ready right the fuck out of your hands.

anyway great session at RIT with Chris "The Dean" Dean and Doug "Tank you very much" Tank and a player I've never met before, Jeff __no last name or obvious nick name given_____. Some great times. It took me a while to warm up but I think I was playing pretty well today. Finally. I've been waiting for a day when I'd be playing at the "top" of my game in front of one of my old RFA pals.
I can't really remember all that was hit. I mean you could check out Doug's blog to find out some stuff he did, and such, but yeah. Chris was busting some massive runs, as per usual, but I could tell he was kinda drained and wasn't playing as well as he'd like. He would drop at the very very end of drills and on strange links I've never seen him drop on in years. But that's alright. Even footgods like Chris have off days. This was the first time I'd ever met Jeff and so I can't really brag about him too much since I don't what he's been working on and stuff. But he's fast, bothsided, and seems to have a confidence with the bag I didn't have at all at his level. Doug? He's still feeling the epic session from Thursday so he was a bit off, but was still hitting some real nice long strings. Assassin, some of the biggest phoenixes I've ever seen (he intimidates the bag by staring it down as it drops down into the butterfly. . . that's just how good he is) And early on he hit a string with smears, plos, and smudges galore. Good to see.
Now on to me. Yeah I was playing pretty well. My flip atomic was sucky to a new extreme, but was able to mix it in there a few times midstring. I can do all components on both sides and relatively on-command. Time to really step up. It's been long passed due.

All in all a good day. I need to do some new drills. Chris was doing these pdx whirl > pdx drifter rpts that I thought were excellent and difficult and would help me a lot. I've also decided I need to do the ripwalk > sidewalk drill more. And I need to start thinking about rubberman. I think if I practice it enough it's not too far off. I can do all components on both sides and relatively on-command. Time to really step up. It's been long passed due.

I won't post about the session today. Not all that worth it other than one or two real "sexy" strings I hit early on involving some nicely executed spins and pdx whirls in tricky combos and Ben's insane ripped warrior attempts and footed incident. That's crazy. I knew he'd be at stepping ducking soon. His steps are just too high NOT to. I'm actually kinda surprised he hasn't tried before. Meh. All power to him. Stepping ducking isn't for me. At least not for a while. I have other fish to fry in batter and serve with a slice of lemon and tartar sauce. Or ketchup.
I found my shoe goo behind a tissue box today after I got back from Fayetteville. I was cursing my luck of having the Aiden lay derelict in the back of my car and I went inside to try and look again in desperation. I went into the kitchen and looked at a book my mom had layed on the counter and just stared at it for a second. Then turned and pushed it and the tissues aside to reveal the tube of sealant. It called to me.
Aiden has been restored for the session Ben and I will have tomorrow. I also bought batteries for my CD player so we can have my shitty music. I'm feeling some polish rap and Bad Religion. O.S.T.R. is mighty fine shred music and tends to make me play well. And Bad Religion's How Could Hell Be Any Worse is a pretty good album to play to. I've done it once and had a good time.
I have a card of tricks I need to hit. See I have this thing going on in my head and it's this: I think I'm holding myself back. I'm pretty sure I'm good enough to hit more tricks than I'm hitting and it's slowing my progression a little. I'm all about the taking the time to get tiltless and guiltless down to a science (I've been doing in for a year and a half) but I think it's time to do something more. So here's the list as it stands. I forgot to bring it to the session today, but I wasn't really playing well so it wouldn't have mattered.
