What's the difference between facile and amaretta?

All I know is that they are two different fabrics and therefore have two different characteristics.

I do know that facil is much more easier to get your hands on as amaretta isn't available in many places.

basically, amaretta is thinner.

imo, facile pales in comparison if you are comparing only the playability of the bag. facile is sturdier and longer lasting though.

Amaretta= thin, super soft, not to durable, doesnt retain its color too long.

Facile= thicker(depending on color), soft(depending on color), more durable(depending on color). Easier to wash and retains color.

i wondered if it makes sense to mix it up, like make a bag with pents amaretta and facile hexes. what you think?

I kicked a bag made like that. It was in Montreal at CC2, and it was made by Tom Mosher. I thought it was pretty cool.

Amaretta bags are SUPER soft and stally. I've played with a few Clavens amaretta bags, and loved them. I would say amaretta = playability and facile = durability.

Is there a cost difference as far as ordering amaretta compared to facile?
And where can you get it? (Or is that a secret because it's so hard to get or something?)

amaretta is cheaper but you can't get fractions of a yard.

I'm actually doing that right now with what little amaretta that I have. Although, I'm doing amaretta hexes and facile pents. I'll be selling two of these bags at Worlds, and keeping one for myself.

I've done this for a little while now but hadn't really said anything.

It's um.. something. I don't know, I am still undecided if it is a good or bad idea.

The bags have felt like bags.. that counts I guess.

I really like working with either material.

If you had a facile and amaretta bag would it inherit the the downsides to the fabrics too? If you had amaretta hexes and facile pents, would it become less durable on the hexes but more playable on the whole bag?

It's just a question of feel and not playability, if you ask me. Sure, most of a bag's break-in comes from the hexes, but a lot of other factors can also play a role, like how you stitch and what filler and weight you use for the bag.
