My avatar? It has green hair. Yes. My avatar will have green hair whenever I decide to turn my hair green, which will happen kind of a lot this summer because I think it looks cool. Am I raging against society? No, I do that in other ways. Am I trying to shock people? Nope. I hate attention (except with footbag). Am I emo? Nope. Green. Not black. No, friends. I dye my hair for one reason and one reason only. - I think I look really badass with green hair. Green is my favorite color and I think green hair is pretty cool-looking. Especially the dark green I use. Ben didn't even really notice the difference until I stopped sweating as much and the top of my hair dried from the rain.

pizza shop shred with Ben. Fun stuff. Started off BURNIN' HOT with some killer runs in the first half of the session, but cooled down when we started to hit single tricks and/or bigger sick 3-ish combos.

Drifters were for shit, so I did about 4 of them all session. Not sure what they were doing and why they weren't sticking, but it GOT ME MAD!

atomics? meh. Legbeaters and eggplants amok, but atomic illusions were so thin or the it made me sick so I would pull my foot back and let it drop. No illusion should be that unclean.

pixies. I LOVE that I have a flip now. I can't stress this enough. I'm so happy. A bunch of my longer and more intense strings were filled with parkwalks, dimwalks, plo's, smears, all on both sides and in some pretty descent guiltless variations.

fairy? Yes. Fairy. I hit flow and fairy op. butterfly (I can't remember would name this got). Just to know I could still do it.

Neo? Oh yep. That too. I had a real high couple neo sets, but I was only messin' and I didn't want to hit anything out of it. Why?

stepping. Not bad. Ripwalk > sidewalk rpt > string. Real comfortable. Worked hand in hand with pixies today and I even had atomic from blurs and stuff. I had a really controlled run toward the end of the session that had sidewalks, schmoes, and "blurry" legovers but I can't remember how it went and it was cut short by a misplaced and poorly executed schmoe to a drop.

spinning. Yeah I had a few in there in the beginning. Real easy today. I tried pixie spinning. If I lifted my leg up at one point at the end of one or two of my spins I probably could have done pixie spinning mirage.

dynos and blenders. Spinning blender attempts. Nope. Dynos both sides pretty consistently at first - got worse as I got sloppier with my runs.

* I had an osisish run today that was pretty cool which ended on a symple dyno which was really well done. Lots of far osis to infinity and floating osisisises and ducking osisisies. It was fun.

* nuclear dyno. I got that shit. Just not today. I'll dial it and it'll be bothsided and all over the place. You won't even know what's going on. No one will.

* very little knee pain. I was in perfect shred condition after two days break and I only had a small knee ache in the middle of the shred when I kicked my knee. So that doesn't count. I'm going to go do calf and thigh exercises later tonight and stretch.

* I love footbag

the reason you couldnt do drifters is because of your matt bag, its not ready! ...don't you see what your doing to your self?! its driving you mad! and if you want this to stop, your going to have to do something about it. Act now pat...before its too late.

1) I love my cross bag with its new filling. It wasn't the bag. It was landing on my big toe every time I came down with the drifter. It was definitely me. Whatever. It's the same ol same ol with me and finding what's off and what's on at the beginning of each session. That's what I do. I go through the list of components and drills and stuff to see what I should or shouldn't do if I want to have fun while I shred.

2) Ben and I are revamping the battle scenario, Doug. Ben didn't like the Freestyle Reality version so we're making it more battle-ish. So Sunday be prepared for a more intense battle system than the one in Final Fantasy XI. It'll knock the lavers right off your feet, then G-Units will come out of nowhere and pop a cap in the lavers as they lay there wishing they were on a tennis court. . . drinking sweet tea and discussing business goals.

shit. I gotta get back to work - lunch break. Gots me my eats. Now it's off to sit in a graveyard and cut grass for another three hours.

had a short session today. Kinda sucked. It's odd, I felt just fine yesterday playing with Ben but I came home and an hour or two later I was sore as hell. Still am, kind of. So I tried to play as best I could. Justed wanted to remark on a couple things I either hit or have been thinking about:

 pdx tap, or nuclear ss mirage (I'll bsos it next time I play and dont' feel like shite)
 tapping drifter attempts on both sides. Pretty damn close. Drifters were back on today  .
 new ducking record: ~23. give or take one.
 lots of new reverse whirl tricks. Again, ashamed that it's taken so long for me to sit down and try them so I'll just say it's been rectified, and it's both sided. We'll do what we can to incorporate them into runs more often to get them consistent.
 new gyro clipper record: 6 (meh. at least they weren't out of control)
 lots of dlo practice. pdx dlo bs again (not a new trick, but it's in desperate shape). DLO from toe. Practiced. 3 out of 5 on my flip.

toe shuffling string - plo>plo>magellan>smear>pixie ss mirage>smear>pixie pickup>symp mirage>symp pixie>pixie ss pickup>hand catch

^ 10 contacts from toe is my new goal. I just need a good setting bag like the Cross Bag to do it. I've got the motion to this string down. The next time I play I'll do it. 10 contacts.

I told Ben the other day that I'm taking trick ideas from the runs of Chris Dean and Erik Chan, but I was reading Henry G's blog last night and got inspired to do some more stuff. The tapping things he hit last month or something and some of the drills he does would be really challenging for me, but I don't see why I can't do some of them.

It's a pretty exciting time for me and footbag. It'll be interesting to see what comes out of these sessions this summer and fall.

bottom of the page bump*

Jeez. Over 4000 views. Seems like just recently I've been getting more and more views. That's pretty cool. Might just be because I'm posting more. But I'd like to think I'm just writing more interesting things and hitting more interesting tricks/combos.

session today with Ben. Wasn't too great for me. Didn't really do too much in the ways of footbag. One or two good runs. Couple of my new reverse whirl tricks on my flip. I got a free can of Vault, talked to a cool old guy with red dyed hair about the Dead Kennedys (he saw my shirt with the logo on it) and how the WORLD IS -A- CHANGIN'! and that people are too uptight and blah blah blah. He was just a funny-lookin SOB and I humored him. He liked DK so he's a good man. He was also like 40 and was skating at the skatepark and you gotta respect that. At least I do.

The session was also interrupted by a couple of dudes who came by to ask us if we knew what it meant to have faith in Jesus Christ so that we can be saved from the fiery lake of Hell. I like talking to those kinds of people. As I told them, I've had a very interesting religious life. Raised pretty active Roman Catholic, had friends who were Jewish, Hindu, and pretty much every sect of Christianity. I've taken theology classes and logic and phylosophy classes, I've read a bunch on all that sort of stuff. And I consider myself as close to a Taoist as a modern-day American can. Taoism seems to fit with me. That can be a whole other post, however, so I won't get into that. Long story short, it's unfortunate these guys caught me in the middle of a footbag session because otherwise I would've talked their ears off instead of the other way around. I just wanted to play. Ben gave them the time of day, however, and they left after a while.

Finished up playing. We've deemed this session a "warm up session" for the shred that'll take place Sunday with Doug and Ian when they come into the Realm of Liverpool, NY; a quaint, all-American suburb of the once-great Syracuse. Should be fun. I'm ready to play footbag well again. Last two go's haven't been so great.

UMASS!? Heh. My brother almost went there. Good school. I went there when he took the tour, but I was like. . . 12 at the time so I didn't really care. I just wanted to go to Boston harbor.

well all this is news to me. But yeah. Doug, if you can't make it till ___:___ then that's fine. I sent you a PM that kind of explains I have plenty to occupy myself with. I'll keep checking back here.

I found my Rea bag! .. . yeah, it was lost. Just for a day, though. It was in my car underneath the CRAP. Sigh of relief. That bag rocks my world.

Didn't play today, but my mind was always on footbag. I haven't gone out and gotten new shoes and I don't like to wear my lavers when I'm not playing so I slipped on my old quantums to go out and about. They fit well when I'm not wearing socks and I don't have the ol' orthopedic insole things I bought for them. They'll be a nice non-shred shoe since I don't feel like spending another $40 dollars on a new pair of vans. . . yet.

I should've posted this last night right after I did it, but I guess I got side-tracked. Yeah so last night was walking around and my friend and I were just browsing around YouTube looking at videos of kitties doing weird things and videos about how much the ps3 sucks ass  when I found a sandman under the couch by my computer so I was flicking it around in socks. AND THEN I hit ocean in bare feet, but I think I osis'd it on the sole of my foot since I can't really stall a bag on the instep. I'm not a sock shredder. At all. But yeah. Ocean. Barefoot. At least I think it was ocean. What's double over-downing osis. Is it motion or ocean? I can never get those 3 or 4 tricks separate. Ocean, motion, locomotion, blah blah.

So that's the footbag news. Played with Doug and Ian yesterday. That was fun. I started out real well and lost momentum and skill as I went. I had a real good pixie toe shuffling string I don't think anyone saw. Otherwise, some nice string length. Spinning and gyros were giving me some problems. :? oh well. live and let drop, I suppose.

Alright well I'm off to continue an argument I'm having with my parents about my refusal to "grow up" (whatever that means, right? Right.)

you sound like someone from a schoolbook i read. i could tell you all about your 'problem' ...only because i had to analyze it for 3 weeks.

Paradon Osis (Ocean) - TOE >> OP OUT [DEX] > SAME OUT [DEX] > (back) SPIN [BOD] > SAME CLIP [XBD][DEL]

DOD Osis (Motion)- TOE >> SAME OUT [DEX] > SAME OUT [DEX] > (back) SPIN [BOD] > SAME CLIP [XBD][DEL]

Blurry Motion (Locomotion) - CLIP > OP IN [DEX] >> OP OUT [DEX] > SAME OUT [DEX] > (back) SPIN [BOD] > SAME CLIP [XBD][DEL]

one of us should hit locomotion, might have to be you because my strong stepping sucks. and you're better at double dexes.

maybe even:

Spinning Motion (Motion Sickness) - CLIP >> (back) SPIN [BOD] > OP OUT [DEX] > SAME OUT [DEX] > (back) SPIN [BOD] > SAME CLIP [XBD][DEL]

I'd gladly hear a lecture on my "problem" from a teacher any day when compared to my parents. . .

thanks for the clearity, Ben. Yeah we'll have to do locomotion. I'll hit it the day I bsos blurriest and can throw it down midstring. because that's the way I roll with hitting new tricks. And I like it.

HARRY POTTER IN LESS THAN AN HOUR!!!!!!!!!111111111

pff. growing up. Slide me down that SODA POP and give me some cartoons on a saturday mornin' and I'll spin ye a yarn of my cares and my woes, an epic so true it sticks like glue and never quits into the pits, which speak louder than the monsters you only hear about in LYRICAL BITS!

dude are you serious? That's hilarious! I'm re-reading catcher in the rye RIGHT NOW! I just picked it up yesterday. . . wow. That's insane.

yeah I've read it. I've always said I'm a realistic Holden, meaning I'm more or less as internal and nuts as Holden but I don't have psychotic episodes where I think the road is disappearing underneath me and all that. Crazy things happen at the end of that book. Can't wait to read it again. I'm half through it- - - that's just how intense my work is.

well the REASON I wanted to post is that I found a new kind of underground rap artist that I really really like and was wondering if other people have heard of it: Phi-life Cypher. It's REALLY REALLY good and I'm going to make a mixed CD of some of his stuff and bring it to a shred session I'm about to have with ben in like. . 10 minutes. Ben if you see this, then leave your house. I'm going to call you as soon as I get my shorts on.

pT

EDIT: Meh session. Had some descent stuff laid out on the foot. Blizzard > toe whirl > ripwalk > hand catch. Some interesting stepping out of osis that was really under me and controlled. I was really in the mood, was in the zone, had the energy, but I'll be damned! I JUST COULDN'T PLAY WELL! Ben has a crazy quantum set. Hits tripwalk and toe blur like it's his second job. Other than that we were both kind of not feelin' it and had massive holes in our feet, so to speak. On the flipside, we were playing to some sweet beats, it was pretty chill, and we were complimented on our crazy skills quite a few times by a number of passerby. Ben is a good footbag player when people are watching. That's good.

what went wrong? I have a few theories that make no sense:
1) I didn't do any symple, style-driven strings in the beginning to warm up.
2) I didn't warm up pdx whirls enough and just started doing them in awkward combinations midstring.
3) No drilling warm ups. Oof.
4) Not enough emphasis on flip pixie early on. It made the footbag gods of bothsidedness upset. And for that I am truly sorry.

yep. Those are my Theories of Truths Unfounded in Reason (part I). And this concludes this edition of my blog. Good night.

na, it was something in the air. i could sense. we both had a lot of energy and i think we were both ready to shred but when it came down to it we were just having an off day. our bodies were telling us the opposite though. it feels wierd to have a lot of energy but not being able to bust big.

Nah your bag doesn't SUCK, though i'm a little iffy about that wacky blind stitch thing. It hasn't really effected anything too bad when I've played with it so whatever. It's just odd to look at. It's just odd to have three shreddable bags at the ready 24/7 so it doesn't get a lot of time in since my first of yours is just ill as The Sickness and i like it much. But to answer your question it WAS at the session. It was in my car. In the box-o-lead shot with my dead Aiden and the rotting Patty bag. It's a pretty bag, Ben. You did well. I'll bring it tomorrow and we can hack it up with it if you want.

and Harry PLOT-THICKENER and his order of the Frontside Phoenix . . .swirl. . was good. I could've made it much more badass, though. But Dumbledorfenheimer is more or less the mack daddy of wizards. He's awesome. I liked the Weasley twins this time 'round. I thought they were a bit funnier. I don't know. I went off on an hour-long rant of how much cooler they could've made the battle scenes and stuff, but it started to sound like a star wars movie by the time I got done with it so I stopped and started looking for my car which I thought got stolen for about 10 minutes until I realized I had parked in way up in the front of the lot (something I NEVER do) and was quite embarrassed about. I freak out about my car getting stolen a lot. I feel crumby. And phony. Boy, did I ever. I really did. Swell.

:?:

WACKY EDIT: Um. I think I should form some sort of jam or gathering in Syracuse. Not like a full-blown competition. I'm probably not even going to post in at .org. I'm just thinking it'd be easy for people from Canada, NJ, NYC (and all other parts of NY), and (?) more to come to a shred in Syracuse. There are a few people I haven't seen and played with in a while and it doesn't seem like there are many east coast jams happening right now or in the near future - probably in large part due to Worlds coming up fast. Not sure. Now here's the thing. I'm hesitant about this so I'm asking EVERYONE who reads my blog and who has read thusfar to PM me or post here in the blog and tell me if they think it's a descent idea to at least try. There are some real cheap hotels around the downtown area and the outlying suburbs and some real fine shred spots we could go to in Syracuse.

just a thought.
