I'm thinking about budgeting as well. How much moolah should I bring to Worlds, at a bare minimum? I'm thinking $700-800, and considering its a week, I can take a day or two just to stitch bags aplenty and sell them off.

Of course, I'm stitching bags as we speak, so I'll have some money to earn. :|

My uncle is looking for plane tickets for me and is going to loan me the money to buy one. After I get that I'm going to work and save 400 or so dollars (maybe get some money from my work to go 8) ) and then I'll be set I think.

Myself, Stephen Barnes, Dylan Fry, and most likely Matt Emmings are looking for a place to stay/a place to go in on. Are there any deals to be had left anywhere in this swampy quagmire that is Orlando? Is anyone looking for 2-4 room mates? Reply here/PM/AIM/e-mail/call/whatever.

Edit: Aaron, if push comes to shove and we need to rent a room would you be down to jump in on that?

I just thought of another thing.
I was going to exchange for some USA money before flying out, but I don't know if I feel safe carrying around, like, $500 USA... what do other foreigners plan on doing about this?

Do Canadian bank cards work as "debit cards" in The USA?
(I guess I have a Mastercard too, if it comes to that.)

When ever I travel with a lot of money I get travelers checks. You can get them at the bank.

Why are you worried, Eric? Are you afraid you're gonna lose it somehow? I'm bringing about 1000$ in cash and a credit card if I decide to buy something expensive.

I'm loving the US$ exchange rate, right now :) 1.38, baby!

Maybe if youre going to another city like new york, or rio de janeiro, but i think your chances of getting mugged in orlando (lol) are pretty slim.

Wear a money belt. Then the only way you can get jacked is if you pass out naked for some reason.

I guess that might be kind of awkward to shred in though... :?

Oh Brinard! Ye of little gift card knowledge!

I, grocery store employee, see visa gift cards more than the average bear. And let me tell you the sneaky secret lying in the shiny packaging. There is a $4.99 service charge for activating this little card of lies and many do not know of this. And that's 4.99 US, meaning erik would be paying like $200.00 canadian just so he can have a safe means of money transport. Quite the bag situation for young master Chan.

I do say erik, invest in gold. Currency of the future. Accepted everywhere. A good sifting pan and a ziploc bag will get you through worlds.

I know this is a joke, but gold is exponentially losing value across the globe

EDIT: and by exponential I really mean slowly declining
