Had a pretty awesome session yesterday with Doug Tank and Jeff Hastings. We met at the tennis courts at Cobbs Hill in Rochester. The weather was a bit cloudy but fortunately the little rain that fell was not enough to stop us and certainly not any more threatening to our playing area than the moderate amount of moisture I provided in sweat.

Jeff is certainly on the right track to becoming a good player. He clearly has the determination and the focus. It is only a matter of time before he finds his own rhythm and starts hitting longer string of moves. I recommended to him that he put a little spring in his movements so that he can take advantage of momentum and concentrate his strength on control. I don't think I phrased it that clearly but I think he got the message.

Doug is always impressing me. During this session he hit a lot of very long strings and in most cases played guiltless. He almost finished the drill paradox mirage -> butterfly -> repeat -> paradox illusion -> butterfly -> repeat. He dropped the last illusion and we joked about our common dropping-the-last-move ailment. He hit a bunch of ripwalks and clip same side butterflies and whirls. He ended the night trying phoenix and after a few tries hit it really clean.

As for me, I think I played well. I felt very comfortable playing with Jeff and Doug and the props they gave really pushed me to play hard. I kicked about two hours the night before and my legs were sore when our session started, but somehow I was able to hit some fairly long strings with a lot of variety. My biggest string of the night I think was when I hit paradox eggbeater and paradox double legover bsos in the same string with only one guilt. I also hit symposium double legover as a single trick. I can't wait to incorporate that into my strings. I was really happy with my string lengths and the fact that I lasted an hour and a half before things started breaking down.

All in all it was a good session and I look forward to doing it again very soon.

hello RFA! I will be coming to Rochester next weekend, and it would be nice if we could set up a session, and even nicer if we could film! When can folks kick? I will come friday and leave sunday.

hey how many people are coming to buffalo this time 'round, fellas? Ben and I are definitely going! We're going to get there pretty early with Doug and probably just chill, stitch, and hack with the circle kickers and stuff. We'll see ye when ye get there.

ps: Matt - I think you'll like your bag now that I took out some plastic and filled it with some lead. I want you to hit something new and crazy with it if you're going. It sets like a dream.

it looks like it's going to be all rainy tomorrow around the time of the festival. If that's alright with people it's alright with me. I'm sure we could find shelter. Chris - Ben and I are heading out to Doug's house and we'll get there around 3:30 or SO. So yeah. We're going real freakin' early. Mainly because I don't really want to wait until it gets too dark to play, if I'm even going to be playing much at all. I just really wanted to see people again, watch some shred, and learn to stitch from Ben or Matt. Doug or myself will call you tomorrow when we're heading out.

let's do a sunday session at noon. Weather.com says it will be partly cloudy, which I think is good for shred. I will play anywhere in the Roc area, including our usual RIT spot. So, I suggest that off the bat, unless someone has a better suggestion. As I said, I'm down for anywhere.

regarding tonight... well, it's going to be raining, but if you guys have it in you to play in the rain, so do I. I'm doubtful about finding a sheltered spot, but who knows? I can be to buffalo as early as 5:30. See you guys there.

For shelter in Buffalo you could always use the parking garage near the main stage. I dont remember what streat it is on but I believe Matt Cross will know.

We could play at George Clinton's birthday party this weekend!!!!!!! well... if it didnt cost 55 bucks to get in we could. Actually, i'd almost be willing to do that :D

Today is surely going to be raining in Buffalo, but I'll say the same thing as everyone else. If you guys dont mind then neither do I.

Are you saying you're going to be arriving there at 3:30? I am just getting home from work now (10:30am)--usually i get home earlier. I am currently settling in with a beer and then its bedtime. So 330 is a bit too early for me; I could be ready to be picked up by 4 at the earliest. But don't let me slow you down.

I just have one last thing to say before we put things in motion: Will there still be music and loads of people if it's raining? If the party in the square is called on account of rain then um. I'm not sure if it's worth it. I like buffalo and all but it loses its appeal. Ben and I just want to play footbag, as we both have the entire day free and as long as we're at least in Rochester I don't think we'll go home unhappy or anything. The more talk of rain is brought up the less I think I'd like to go all the way to Buffalo.

I'm still waiting for Doug to respond to a PM. Pretty soon I'll just call him. Just waiting on his opinion. It'd still be cool to go to Rochester/Pittsford area.

I won't go to Rochester to play. It's too far for me to drive out for a session and back at night for work in the morn. I WILL, however, be in rochester this weekend, and as I said, a sunday session at noon at RIT will be awesome. Shall we postpone until then? who says what?

Ben and I are heading out in a bit and we're getting into Rochester. We'll be playing there I think. Somewhere. If people can make it out that's cool but otherwise I guess we'll just have to wait until the next Thursdays.

i say this footblog is by far the easiest way to coordinate such things. horray for modified. and it has been more active today than like, ever.

yeah just call me and i'll wake up and change and start driving to wherever people are playing footbag. i havent played since monday which means i have to play today.

i think rochester is the most reasonable choice today. i suggest RIT in front of clark gym (GRASS gym) for 2 reasons: it is a lot closer to me than any other rochester/pittsford location, and it is a good outdoor spot that doesn't get rained on.

someone please call me an hour or so before you start playing so i can get there when you do.
