Worlds Rippin Run
Is there going to be one?
If not then we should create one for fun!

I dunno... I feel like Circle Contest has replaced Rippin Run. I've never seen a truly good rippin run contest. Even when good players like Clavens compete, you can totally tell they are sandbagging it until the other guy drops. I watched some video of a Rippin Run at TSG 5 which bored me to tears. In circle comp you get rewarded for going longer, but only if its genuine. I really hoped that Circle Comp would mean the death of RR.
Just my opinion.

I agree with you on your cons about RR. I wonder how much this sandbagging element is taken into consideration and if it can be adjusted.C-Fan wrote:I dunno... One suggestion I would have for increasing the original content would be that each player keeps playing until each on has dropped at least once.
This would postively reinforce the players to play on a more genuine level, as the severity of the drop element would be reduced to more of what is seen in routines.
Watching Penske's performance at final routines open I would hate to imagine that a showing of such athleticism should be haltered by his early on drop.
Here is another example. Imagine that 30 seconds in player A has done little other than embelished BOPs but player B finally drops after hitting alpine variations of harder drills, it would seems like a crime that player decides to then hit a few hard links and prevail.
Now, suppose that instead Player B has the opportunity to keep going, so long as player A doesn't drop. This calls out player A on their lack of originality, and allows player B to demonstrate a prociency of string length.
Just an idea. I do not proclaim to have a solution but I think it's safe to discuss these things.
It's an endurance contest, nothing else. Who cares if someone does butter>whirl>ducking clip>osis>etc? That's how you play rippin' run. You don't go out there and try all tripless shuffle with fearless links. The point is to not drop before the other person, period. And of course you can tell that greater players aren't busting fully, they know what they're doing.
I think rippin run is fun to compete in, although I got Penske first round like twice. Circle comp is just another subjective event that will cause controversy in the future. It's bound to happen.

Word. The point of Rippin' Run is to guilt, that's how you win. It may not be interesting for the first minute or so, but when people are busting for 2 - 3 minutes straight, it's awesome!habitat wrote:It's an endurance contest, nothing else. No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.
