worlds 2008 Prague

Officially received the nod a few days ago.

I'm not going, but I'm sure people are excited to hear the news.

They were the only city to put in a nomination, and they put it in a month after the cut off date too...

You should go. What's a couple of grand over a year of savings? 38 bucks a week.

I'm going. Enough of this shit. Prague is beautiful and has incredibly cheap beer.

Prague is really really nice and the footbag crew there are really friendly! I miss them

Has Czech Rep changed to the Euro now? That would put a dent in your spending i imagine...

Pretty sure that there are at least 2 cities (maybe even 3) already working on bids for '09 so it's probably too early to say.

Prague 2003.

When nobody else puts in a bid, there isn't really much choice though...

I heard the bid was more like; "we'll host it, but we haven't put anything together yet" too...

Please do not talk about it like it will suck or like it will be really bad event. We have really good plans and I am quite sure people will like it. For those who are not sure if they will come, remember that Prague is really cheap and beatiful city worth seeing.

No, we don't have Euros in CR yet (thanks god!)
No, we haven't planed a single thing yet (first meeting tomorrow)

But we do have a lot of ideas and experience from previous years and we will surely make it a player-friendly event again. Expect a great atmosphere, lazy schedule, party every night and cheap beer. And since Honza Webslinger Weber - the most picky freestyle player I know

- is on our team, you can be sure that there will be always a place to shred/warmup/play.

p.s.:
There is a topic http://modified.in/footbag/viewtopic.php?t=16791 about the Euros in Vienna and what people did and didn't like there. So if you have any suggestions what you would or wouldn't like to have in Prague, just write it here or there. All options are still open and we really want to push it a bit more again, like in 2003

I have very fond memories of Worlds in CR.. Euros too.. but Worlds there were awesome for the reasons stated in the posts above mine but for many others too.

I don't think Jeremy was implying that it would suck but rather that it is yet to be planned.

I, for one, am totally stroked

I have always wanted to visit Praha and drink some pivo, even before I got into footbag. So has my girlfriend.

I'm sure the Honzas (Struz and Weber) and the other guys will do a great job putting this together. Stroked. Can't wait.

Prague worlds 03 were superb, 08 will be better, they have Honza as Vojta said so freestylers don't have to worry about bad conditions, which is a very good thing.

Just remember to take good care of net competitions also and Prague 08 will be the best!

I just want to say that everybody should go to Prague 08, regardless of whether or not they play footbag. Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and its pretty cheap to boot. Worlds 03 was one of the most fun weeks of my life, and it would have been even if I didn't play a ton of footbag.

I personally thought that Worlds 03 was run pretty well. If they can improve on it, even better.

But yeah, go to Prague if it's humanly possible for you. It should be excellent.

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. I wasn't saying that the tournament would be bad at all. I'm sure it will be a great event, and even better than 2003.

I was more suggesting that the process was a little disappointing. I would love it if the IFPA were forced to choose from amongst the best bid, rather than giving out worlds by default, and if applications were on time and well written.
