Hey Sergey, why not count the shred 30 results? I totally agree the conditions were fucked up. but ive seen people hit crazy shreds on stages like that very late before. i even had a better shred than in the first round (ok i was the only one and therefore won ) :) but conditions were just as bad for everyone. so it was at least a fair competition, under bad conditions (though i didnt think the stage was so bad, more the "warmup" area).
cheers, and congrats of making bap, you really deserve it, no matter what people are writing, who havent even seen you live
paul
p.s. henry, in the first round more than 5 people had scores about 200...also i dont think you can measure the quality of players at a given tournament by their shred scores.

Why do people care about BAP? Being good at footbag should be reward enough. If you are playing anywhere near "BAP-level" you should be able to appreciate your own skills without having others pat you on the back. Are we all that insecure?

Was there this much of an uproar in 2004 when BAP inducted something like 8 players (of varying ability)?

Play footbag to have fun and get good. Play for yourself. Playing footbag with the end goal of trying to impress a bunch of teenage boys is silly.

Play footbag for your self for sure

But if you are practice a lot, and shreding hard for a long time, it's ok to be rewarded by greatest players for your skills, and be elected to BAP. It's diferent things than you are talking about, Ken.

I was only curious as to why the scores were so low Paul, wasn't trying to be rude :)

Thanks for one of the best weeks of my life this far to players and organizers.

I said it last year I will say it again. I hate big footbag tournaments because they make my life look like shit in comparison.

See you in Prague!

Actually Jim, hate to kill your buzz but I created SUPER BAP back in 2005 at GLASS (a tournament). But you gotta hit the SUPER BAP drill to get in, and it's pretty tough. (butt>pdx mirage rpt)

Maybe we need to have a showdown of SUPER BAP's at world's for naming rights.

I am glad people had fun at Euro's, I wish I coulda been there!

Whatever, he can have super bap Tom, superduper bap is better anyway, and if he takes that one then we can resort to superdeeduper bap.

Many people also thought that Olav"Anaconda" should be inducted too,
but then the present bap members decided against it by saying that he
has to keep up/increase/consolidate his crazy level for another year .
Maby the same thing happened to Dave before, people loved his craziness
at last US open, but they wanted to see more before inducting him at
this years worlds. WHICH WILL SURELY HAPPEN, SO STOP WORRYING JIM !!!

But maby they didnt thought about that at all - in neither case, the fact that
David will be inducted a couple of weeks later than Sergey doesnt make
Sergey a better player, nor does it make everybody at Euros unfair or
malevolent .

Its strange to see so many non-BAP and recent BAP talk about BAP's practices and original intentions. I wonder how the original members of BAP feel about Euros inductions? I know that at CSS2 they were cool with a non-worlds induction, but part of that was because Kenny and Rippin were there to give the OK. Were there any BAP at Euros who were pre-2002 inductees?

As for whether Dave gets inducted at Worlds or not, I don't know what will happen. In the past, you HAD to play at a tournament to get inducted. Part of the reasoning was that it ensured that the player dealt with pressure well and had consistency. Some very good players who look very good on video failed to make BAP in past years for this very reason. This actually has happened at every worlds I have attended. If Dave makes it in without playing, that's a slap in the face to Ricky Moran, who was in almost the exact same position at 04 Worlds, and wasn't inducted (and that was the year when EVERYBODY got in, so the "play under pressure at worlds rule" was taken seriously).

Sorry to be so off-topic. This thread is a prime candidate for a topic-split. Mods?

hey ken, as far as i know sebastien duchesne was inducted in 2001 (so before 2002) without playing at all at worlds due to an injury, he was inducted only because yacine recommended him, and he was at euros this year. sorry to be off-topic as well....
the funny thing also is that this years euros were probably far more international (19 countries represented) than worlds will be + they will have had more players in total i guess (220+)

The European Championships in Vienna were just what i needed in my life !
It was exciting and relaxing, , lot of stuff to laugh about, lots of stuff to learn.
This was the first time i could shred like at home, i met some of my footbag
buddies plus i met cool new people too .
I cannot join in in any kind of rant about the organisation at all, but i
didnt participate ,so the time shifts in schedule and the lack of warm up
space dont bother me personally, also i consider my self grown up enuff
to deal with sudden changes of plans ( sunday) or a lack of fresh fruits
( supermarkets have them, even in Austria ).

The hard work that Vienna Crew put into this event are highly appreciated,
i loved the locations, saturdays party and the never ending water supplies
for showers and drinking . The atmosphere, being among sane people only
for a few days and finding the best party/chill/shred balance yet made this
tourney one of my top three events ever .

Thanks a lot .
