some (semi) official stuff:

the pics daryl posted were actually not meant for the public;) there's still a mistake in the stiching on those. the final version 02, like the 01 version will need no cutting the flaps in the toe box.

considering weight, we never took the time to really weigh the shoes. but i remember someone putting the qm01 on a scale at worlds and was surprised that it was just about as heavy as the rod laver. they feel much lighter. so i guess the whole feel of the shoe contributes to the impression that it is lighter than the lavers. for the qm02 we had to change the sole composition and we changed the mesh. we don't know how that has changed the actual weght, but the shoes definately still feel as light as the 01 version.

the new mesh is actually thinner than the mesh of the qm01 (which was a two layer composite). but still it has proven more durable at least in the timeframe we've had for testing. ales has been wearing a sample pair for more than 3 months straight now, playing footbag, soccer and lifting his weights (aparently it's the only pair of shoes he owns presently). they've held up very well, much better than the qm01 he owns.

the colors this time around are dark grey and darkgrey/white, as can be seen in the pictures. the story behind that is that the designer gave us 10 color versions to choose from and at the international planetfootbag meeting (8 representatives) everybody wanted a different color. so in the end the compromise was to leave it simple. for qm03 the designer has the task to present us with only 3 color options and hopefully we can agree on one;)

you also have to remember that the qm'2 are prioduced in a very limited quantity. if we made 6 different colors that would mean that for each size there would only be about 4 pairs of each color. or something like that. on one hand that would be cool, on the other it would significantly increase the production costs.

for sizes we have extended the range to accomodate a few people with small feet (US 6) and a few with large feet (US 12). like flavio said, we can only afford to extend the range by so much with every new version because each size generates very high cost in the initial production process. we'll have 2-3 new sizes for each new version. next time around we'll probably try to fill a few 1/2 size holes.

the cost will probably be around $80 or â‚¬60. but it might be a little more because shipping to the US turnsout to be really expensive. but that's up to daryl to decide, as he's the exclusive distributor of the qm02 in the US.

we've had a lot of feedback asking us to include better insoles in the qm. the problem with this is that we only make a couple of 100 shoes a year. so any insole we need to buy from a third supplier will cost us a lot. in the end we decided against including an athletic insole for this reason. a beginner will not need such an insole immediately and the additional cost might keep him from buying the shoe. so our advice still holds: if you buy the qm02 and are a regular freestyle player we suggest you get yourself a good pair of insoles.

last one: we are currently trying our utmost to get the qm02 to florida in time for worlds. we're very confident that we will manage this. for all european players the release will be at euros and the shoes will be in the planetfootbag webshops shortly after.

Hey lotus, if they're not available down under I'd be willing to buy a pair for you and ship them down there. Albeit that you pay for the shoes of course, I'd cover shipping

I'd bet shipping of one pair of shoes to Austrailia, with an expectation of getting to it's destination within a month, would run 25 to 30 bucks.

i really couldn't have you out of pocket over my shoes though robert ... but i really respect you for saying that.

i'll just have to buy them from a website with my credit card like everybody else not in europe, the US, or japan ...

mine is the only operational footbag company in australia (http://www.elementalfootbags.com) ... but i doubt there is a large enough community in australia at present to justify an australian outlet ... unfortunately ... maybe qm03 or qm04 though ...

If quantum 3's come out in at least a 13, I'll buy them. I usually wear size 15's, and my lavers are 14, so the lowest I want to go is 13. I don't want to buy a pair of 12's and find out they don't fit, especially for the price. Sorry guyz, I've failed you

I just got my quantum 2s and they feel like the best shoe ever! I haven't shredded in em yet. I will probably post a review tomorrow when I have a chance to shred in them. But trust me, you want a pair.

DANGER! It appears that due to the modifications we made on the shoes that the old sizing rule of the qm01 no longer applies. from what i've heard so far, the qm02 scales about the same as the rod laver, possibly 0.5 size larger. but i'd be happy if people who actually bought the shoe could give us some insight into that.

I tried the shoe on at Euros and I must say that you might need a different size than your lavers with the quantums 02 :

I wear lavers 9.5 US - 9 UK - 43 1/3 - 275 JP and I tried from 9 US to 10 US quantums.

9 was a no go ...would't even be able to walk in them

9.5 was very tight...too tight for me

10 felt pretty good, just about the right size - not too tight but still it isn't loose and my feet really get "enclosed" by the shoe. I haven't really shredded in Quantums (yet - because I will buy them in Switzerland - Euros are too expensive atm) but I'm quite sure that I will get Size 10 for my new quantums.

Overall I really like the shoe. Feels very soft, light weight, looks cool and is definitely a good shred shoe (you should change the insole though). Can't wait to really have sessions in them
