Has this been happening since re-expanding your trick-base? Take it easy on yourself Erik... You're truly a footbag hero to have persevered in the sport thusfar, I'd hate to see you hurt yourself. It's frustrating to not perform to your fullest extent because of injury, but the last thing you want is to make it worse for yourself! Hope you feel better before worlds

I looked at that awesome thread that Waylon started about bad colours, but it seems like the colour selection at Fields Fabrics isn't so hot. I wonder how Brian and Holly always have such colourful bags -- where do you guys buy your facile? So, because I wanted nice-looking colours, I went ahead and got a bunch that were on the "don't get" list. Oh well. I guess I will learn firsthand. I got:
-atlantis
-lapis
-black noir
-oliver
-navajo turquoise
-green grape
-tulip
-safron
-rapture rose
I feel colourful and happy.
Peng also messaged me saying that she got me steel shot. Yay Thank you Pengpeng. Umm, and I still may be getting lead from this gunsmith guy in my city who is trying to special order it for me (and Andrew offered me lead too!). I worked on #010 at work. I am done work now; yay! I'm excited for my new colours (I hope they come before Worlds), because I am sick of what I have now :p

Um, well the exact stuff i have is a recipe unique to the White Crane system of Shaolin Kung Fu, that has been passed down from Master to Student for many generations...and my Sifu makes it himself at home

Ooh, my brother's birthday today. But he just left for Peru on Monday, for a month.
I had a pretty bad session today. Derek came, but only stayed for like an hour or so, and only played for about half of that time. I don't know if he just doesn't find it fun anymore, or what. He had a run with janiwalker BSOS, and another run with nuclear whirl > gravedigger, and then maelstrom in the same run...
Andrew stopped playing really early too and said he probably won't play until Worlds
I had a couple of neat highlights, but overall it was a bad session, mostly because I was looking forward to playing with Derek so much, and I just didn't have any motivation after Derek and Andrew stopped playing. Oh, Manna was doing awesome. He broke his infinity record with 8 (after, like, playing 2 months??) and leared stepping both sides within, like, 5 minutes?? He hit blurry clipper on flip, and almost crispy torque goodside a bunch.
I hit:
-big apple (like first try-ish) HECK YEAH! That's a dream move Couldn't muster flip.
-rev maelstrom > far rev whirl [both sides] (takes a lot more control than something like rev ps, which felt easier...)
-spinning rev whirl > rev tomahawk [repeat]
Yeah, meh.
Andrew named rev hatchet, "ratchet", and that's totally what it's called now

EDIT: I will make this post more useful and say that you can probably get Tiger Balm at most drug stores. I get mine in the big tin at Shoppers Drug Mart (do you have that in the U.S.A.?) for like $10 or so. It's lasted me almost a year. I started out using it a LOT every day, and now I use it every couple of days, mostly for my back pain. It's truly magical.
(I'm also, like, half finished bag #011. I am taking Peng's advice and making empty bags that I will fill with her steel shot at Worlds!!! I'm really looking forward to hanging out with Waylon again!)

Ben Roscoe or no Ben Roscoe?
I haven't played footbag for ages.
Ben Roscoe is in town and we were going to play hack, but Manna and I had decided to play tomorrow, and I haven't heard back from Ben about it yet... Also Andrew can't play (injured), and Derek probably won't be there. Bleh, sucky. I won't play again until Worlds, because my body can't handle it (especially if I want to be able to play in Florida). So that sucks. I hope I can get a hold of Ben Roscoe tomorrow. We're flying to Worlds together in any case, on Saturday.
Stitching
I've started bag #012.
#010 + #011 are empty and sitting completely finished, just waiting to be filled and one last knot each to tie them up. I'm excited. I've never done a blind stitch -- I just do it completely and flip them inside out. I'm kind of trying a new pattern. It's kind of my first three-colour bag (not counting #001, which is ugly). It's atomic with green as the atomic, and alternating white and pink as the rest. I explained last session about how my bothsidedness obsession has carried over into stitching, because I cannot stand the regular soccer ball pattern. I've only done atomic and the claw patterns because they are the equal amount of both colours.
Still want to buy GL2
I'm dying to make awesome footbag videos. I don't know if I will even bring my crappy camcorder to Worlds. My computer still doesn't work so I can't do anything with the tons of footage that I still have (FAT videos coming some day... honest (although now they are way outdated, because apparently my FAT friends are all way amazing now!!! I'm particularly proud of Mike, Alex, and Cassy!)) So yeah. I hope I can still buy my GL2 after Worlds some time. I have more money than I thought I'd have, so that's delish. It turns out that it is possible that I may go back to Toronto after Christmas, actually... we'll see.
(Actually, since my brother is being really, really lazy about helping me fix my computer, I may end up just buying a bloody new one, and exhausting the money I've saved for my new camcorder... blah blah)

I never commented on some videos of people that I like, that I meant to. I watched all of The Office up to date. What a great TV show. I don't watch TV. September 27th will be the first time that I'll be watching a TV show on TV every week; it's so good! I might watch the British one too.
A friend of mine wants to get more into footbag. I met her through teaching her footbag after school a bunch of years ago. She's so naturally talented; she learned clipper both sides from scratch in, like, 2 attempts. I'm very excited to show her more, and potentially have her become my prodigy. She works at a walk-in gym sort of thing during the summer and says that she wants to teach the kids footbag
Oh yeah, and because I can't really play footbag too much I've been kind of learning to foot-juggle a little. My record is, like, 8 tosses each side (4 full rotations, I guess), I think? It feels pretty cool. I've only had, like, 3 10-minute sessions, so I feel pretty happy about it. It will be fun to be able to do this!

It was pretty much the worst I have ever played, ever.
I didn't even bother trying half the time. Blah. And my body even hurts a lot. I guess I did some bigger moves, but didn't really have runs with them or anything. My hips and knees and shins all hurt, and my back a bit. I sure could use a nice bath tonight. I used to get this dead sea mud bath stuff that is like Tiger Balm in bath form -- so potent! But I can't find it anywhere anymore Salt just doesn't do it.
Anyway, Ben was really consistent.
Manna was playing his best so far too! Man, Manna was going off. He hit ripwalk both sides, blur goodside, sidewalk both sides, beat his infinity record of 8 with 12! It was probably his best day, he said. So that alone is worth making this post Oh, Manna's friend also made this footbag rap that I really liked! I think it should get onto Modified somehow.

Ben: Manna has been playing, like, three months. He is getting good fast -- and we are very excited. We are also pushing the bothsidedness, which we are also both very excited about. I was so happy to see that his two sidewalks looked just the same difficulty and form -- that's one that can really reveal its flipsidedness. Oh yeah, and he's 15 -- can you say prodigy???
Chris: Well, my leg specialist doctor guy said that the problem is that there is an instability in my quad muscles, and, like, my outter quad muscle is too strong and pulls my kneecap outwards, and this causes the back of my kneecap to grind away any time I bend my leg; and that's why I have the donut braces to keep my kneecap in place... I don't know if that is the ONLY problem, because certainly I feel pain in the muscles around there too... so I don't know. That diagnostic was a while ago too (a year or more?), before I was playing again, so maybe things have changed.

Andrew: I don't think I will bring my camera either. I've wasted way too many tournaments just sitting and seeing everything through a viewfinder. You're not really there when you're filming. It's so much more amazing to watch the actual people. (Plus, about a bajillion other people will be filming, and we can watch their footage)

And since I'm posting anyway, I will say that I just got my new facile in today! I am so excited, and I will totally finish off #013 (did a few pents in the bath last night), and start a new one. Maybe I will do the bag that Andrew requested, since I am so overwhelmed with all of the colours I have, that I don't know what to make!
I heard the doorbell go off this morning and my Dad go and answer, and I heard something about a $50 fee for a delivery, and immediately I thought, what could be so expensive in taxes, or whatever, and it made me think that maybe it was a bag of lead for me! I was soooo excited for the rest of the...many hours that I continued to lay in bed too tired to move. Then when I woke up the first thing I did was go look for my bag of lead. It turned out that it was a $15 fee and it was for my facile, which is also exciting, but not quite as much so. I think I dreamed about lead too.
