Session yesterday @ Northeastern with Tom, Nathan, Reile and myself. We kicked at the school to avoid the rain but there was no escape from the humidity. We hacked for about 15 minutes and it gradually turned into shred. I soon sat down and watched them play. I think everybody hit new moves that night but I'll let them post their own highlights. I eventually started practicing spikes against a brick wall. I worked on sweeps, toe sweeps, scuffs, front backs, sunbacks and toe spikes. I also tried a few pull downs and sole shoves.
Sweeps - I don't like this spike much. If I'm close to the net I usually end up hitting it. The motion is still very awkward but the power is ok. It would probably be more effective if I jumped up and hit it.
Toe Sweeps - This feels much more natural to me (executed like a thai round kick) but I still have a hard time getting it over the net. The lower I make contact the more power I get but the more likely I drill it straight to the net. If I contact higher, I'm more off balance and lose a bit of power. It would be a very strong serve if I can hit it accurately and consistantly.
Scuffs - This is my favorite by far and my only left side attack. I can hit this over the net more often than not. I've tweaked the motion to get a very nice snap at the end to connect with decet power.
Front Back - This could be my most effective move with my back to the net. The swing felt very comfortable considering this was the first time I had drilled this spike.
Sunback - I definately need to jump to make this work. If I'm planted it's going to hit the net. I feel this could be a good spike for me but I need to stretch out more to make the extension pain free.
Toe spike - I REALLY want this in my arsenal (such as it is). I need more practice to get it smoother and less painful. I hit one of these last weekend and it blazed its way just out of bounds. I know I can do this move I just really need to dedicate a few sessions a week to work on the form. Then I want to roll spike!
Sole shove - Weak at best. Although it's been my best option up close. Anything more aggressive sends me crashing into the net.
Pulldown - This spike frustrates the hell out of me. My timing is all off whenever I try it. I just need some tips and practice it more.

Hey CIC - I'm planning on kicking tonight (Bermuda Cryangle aka the 60618) so if anybody wants to kick, feel free to join me. Also wondering if/when people want to kick this weekend?
I may pass by tonight after work if I get out early enough and practice some spikes against the wall then hang out. I'm off tomorrow so I'm down to play some squares if ya wanna take a break from shred. I may freestyle if sufficiently provoked. Sunday will be at Welles, one of the (former?) Lane kids is having her b-day party there @ 1pm and I will be setting up net and squares.
John Mahood will be in town Sunday as well, clear your schedules, y'all

Awesome. I am totally down for a break from freestyle to play some squares. How should I provoke you to freestyle? My Zeke-provoking stick? Or my Zeke-provoking slide-whistle? I'll need to know which one to bring.
-few slices of roasted pork
-few slices of ham
-pickles
-swiss cheese
-Cuban bread
-pressed on a grill/griddle to flatten the bread and give it a crunch when you bite in. Mmmm...
I'm in Kissimmee right now, which is like 5 mins away from Lake Buena Vista(where world's is).
Getting hooked up with free Disney World tickets tomorrow. See ya'll. I'm getting back in like 6 days.
goofuckin day today. Net 4-square and freestyle, and Marlena's bday party. Nice to have a burger and watermelon after kicking. The magnetic field on the earth is good - played 10% better than average best. Nate played good too. Meinard came! Kamil - you're footfighter is waiting.
I was happy with how I played, fo sho. Fo sho and seven years ago. Too bad I'm such a cranky baby on the 4square court. Played alright the next day, too. Some good highlights, but the stuff I almost hit would have been awesome highlights. I'll write it up in my blog after a few more sessions.
EDIT: I'm hoping those almost highlights become actual highlights in the next couple sessions - but now that I've become attached to that outcome, I will surely disappoint myself. Maybe I should plan for failure? Aim low... so low that no one will see you when you fail. End of EDIT.
Well, if you guys play in the afternoon, I'll prob. kick solo after work at Independence (depending on the weather). Freddie's back from vacation today - not sure if that means he'll be kicking tonight or not.
