Why are there so many pointless arguments on Modified?

This community seems so bitter and unwelcoming at times and i don't know why.

Does everyone have a love hate relationship with footbag?

The stupid bit is that at tournaments it's all sunshine and fuckin lollypops!

The fighting only exists on modified, just ignore it!

for awhile (like 2 months

) things were significantly better. anyone else notice this? its only a few people causing problems, as usual.

It all got better since the ignore button came into play. I think it intimidated a lot of people to shut up. I haven't even had to use the button, yet. Atleast that's what I think. Maybe all of the flamers ignored each other that no fights could happen.

Some entire threads are almost 100% ignored on my side.
It would almost be better if the ignore function could completely remove those users.

Yeah, some people occasionally makes a really dumb comment or thread but it's not like 90 percent or something like these kinds of threads sounds like.

Just kidding. I think a lot of the arguements are things that are interpreted the wrong way. Not all of them, but a lot of them. I've made a few stupid posts, but it's either because I was joking or just ignorant. People are people, whatcha gunna do.

typically the "-cha" in "whatcha" is a replacement for the "you" that would be found in the original, uncolloquialized phrase.

most of the pointless arguments I see these days are just differences of opinion. any dispute these days absolutely pales in comparison to a flipout of Flamin' Damon or Shredzilla proportions.

I love the ignore function. I haven't had to use it yet, but it makes me feel good that the posters here can just turn off anyone they don't like.

I just think our sport is so small that we know a lot of people who are involved and that instead of bitchin or jumping all over someone for having a different opinion we can just except it because we are so diverse and spread out.

The amount of arguments is directly proportional to the amount of dumbfucks.

The laws of the internet dictate that when someone says something stupid or objectionable, they will be flamed.

So instead of cracking down and claiming people are 'unwelcoming' and 'bitter', just teach people not to be dumbasses.

Thats just the awesome thing about footbag! When you're on modified you're not playing footbag.

I think it also has to do with the fact that people a) don't have the balls to stand up for what they believe in in RL. Imagine if people argued on the street like they do on the internet - it'd be a spectacle. And b) they see the actual humanity of the person and sympathise with them alot easier. On the internet, people are a string of text and if they wish, an image. People are more likely to treat them as if they are inhuman. Hell, I still think of Ken Somolinos as Homer.

Most people are guilty of this, including myself. When someone makes a post who I have met in person, I ALWAYS take more consideration into their post even if they are a dumbfuck - just because i subconciously consider them a human being. I don't do it deliberately, its just the way the mind works.

That said, I will treat dumbfucks the same in RL if I deem it fit to do so, however it'll be harder to push me to the line.
