Kicked briefly by my lonesome today.

Schooled hippy atomic sets on both sides. Looked much better. I intend to start drilling legbeater-ripwalk drills asap.

Hit some more ripwalks btb and blurs on both sides.

Left-side whirl is still a mystery to me.

I did not kick today. Instead I got the worst sunburn of my life at a flea market (Roger's) in Ohio.

While I was there I bought the toy I wanted most since I was a kid. The object that taught me I was an artist when I visualized it and tried to make it in my grandfathers garage. I finally own an AT AT Walker.

A new leaf has turned...

Aside from that I spent over $50 on T-Shirts in two states other than PA today so that SCF will be better represented. We have about 30 shirts now that will hopefully have graphics on the fronts and backs.

I keep thinking about furious opposite toe today. Why the hell not. That would be a great link between paradons and would help my stepping sets so that I can hit BAP drill sooner. Time will tell.

Me:

Stepping ss eclipse midstring is a new favorite move. I may even practice it on my other side to get that eclipse schooled. I can almost duck out of it consistently.
Lots of paradons.
Lots of torques.
Some good drifters on one side.
Some long strings with many ducking paradox mirages, both sides.
Many sealed ripwalks.
etc.

Matt:
smear first try.

Me: Ducking Clipper ripwalk both sides
Ducking Clipper stepping butterfly both sides
Ducking Clipper torque both sides
Some of these were bsos

Paradon Dyno bsos
Stepping clipper torque both sides
Ripwalk b2b x2 on same string, drop incomplete off of last clipper
Ducking Paradox Mirage Paradon twice on one side, once on the weaker
A really nice rip walk out of paradon, forgot to try the other side

Schooled spinning clipper on both sides. Stepped out of both sides I believe but did not complete goal of stepping clipper.

Toed another barrage and worked my atomic sets. Left side is getting less leggy. Right side is looking really smooth.

Best day yet.

Matt:

Paradox mirage symposium mirage bsos, first try
toed blur
numerous bsos taps
off side double legover
drifter both sides, maybe bsos
one sided eggbeaters
Symposium illusions both sides (footed one side, linked out of the other)
Many dimwalks.

Matt is awesome and a very quick learner.

Me: Stepping clipper dyno first try and within three on the other side.
Ducking paradox mirage legbeater both sides.
Paradon blur solid on one side, toed several times on the other
Paradon two stepping clippers and butterflies, most variations but forget which. I bet they are all there as I was hitting them at the end of a six hour session.
Good drifters.

I may have hit a few clean whirls on my testy side. Matt could not verify if they were legit or not. I feel I may have figured out what I was doing wrong.

Lots of other fun stuff. Learning to do hippy atomics on both sides. Henry G's form really inspires me. Oh yeah! A whole bunch of quantum butterflies! The set just clicked! Also off side pixie is looking less impossible.

Matt: Whirls toed at least on both sides. Never tried before today.

He started hitting atomics hippy:
atomic butterfly both sides
atomic same side butterfly both sides
tap dimwalk both sides

dimwalk to ducking paradox mirage both sides

Matt is a natural.

Jake and I demonstrated Footbag on Sunday for a "Children's day event".
We gave away about fifty (from what I remember) footbags to kids, taught them how to kick and managed to be on TV to publicize the event.

Here is a link: http://kdka.com/video/[email protected]

We may put this in the video section.

You will see the new shirts we designed. We worked together on these, though the original concept credit goes to Jake. I just tried to help make it happen.

Next Topic: My endurance sucks. Perhaps I will go for a run tonight. I tried kicking today while concentrating on keeping my arms up and breathing in with the nose- out with the mouth. My endurance still sucks though.

I hit ripwalk to blur starting on left side clipper. That was nice. Hit stepping osis, torque and ss clipper out of paradon as well. Four consecutive flying clippers. That was nice. A couple longer strings.

Ultimately I felt lethargic and crappy. I am not happy again with my endurance. If there is not a major improvement after 4 days of running, I will not compete this weekend.

EDIT: So I went for a late run. Felt good at first but had to stop because my back hurt. Came back and watched the circle competition. Watching Vasek play was unbelievable. I don't really understand how the CC is rated, nonetheless fairly, but that is some unbelievable footage. I love this game. Even if my back hurts and my endurance is beneath what I want. I love this game.

Props to all of the CC competitors and creators. Damn.

Jake hit Mobius with advice from Peter Irish.

Clavens sold both Jake and I bags and hit some of the longest most original strings I've ever seen live.

Vaesk did a whole bunch of handstand. Oh yeah, he also hit fluricane to Triple ATW.

Chris Dean is cool.

Josh from Ohio is sick.

Zack form Michigan is amazing.

Michael Toolan is funny as hell.

We have way too much beer.

The trip to Harrisburgh was well worth it.

Highlights:

David kicked for a short while on Saturday with Vasek, Chris Dean and two others (Josh and Chris-last names I don't recall.) In particular, his last string was epic in it's length and originality. Meanwhile Vasek hit a few particular moves that stood out individually.

Watching the two of them kick was a great experience.

I also met a couple individuals that I would like to meet up with again.

My attitude about this sport has changed. I am ready to both treat it with more discipline and put it on a back-burner. I feel I have another decade or more of physical growth ahead of me so long as I only push myself when I have the resources and concentration to do it right. In the last year my game has improved greatly. I am interested in finding where it will be next year.

It is always a pleasure to run into some people. Peter Irish and John Schneider represent the sort of style and personality I want to associate with footbag. They are originators, and good role-models. I was lucky to get to be around both of them this weekend. It was also nice to get a chance to chat with Bevier and Penney.

No more footbag till I get a new job. And, I have new Clavens bag burning a hole in my pocket right now, so it will be soon.

Ditto everything Ian said, plus:

Shout outs to the Michigan crew, those guys are cool.

It was cool to meet some new folks from the upstate new york scene, namely Jeff from Fredonia.

My favorite trick of the weekend was Chris Dean hitting frontside atomic drifter in that crazy circle on Sunday night. That trick is pimp. Dave's purposeful the's and Vasek's symp whirrs were pretty pimp too.

I hit mobius with encouragement from Ian and some advice from Peter Irish. Hell yeah

Couple new things:

Job interview tomorrow. So I was allowed to kick.

Off of the foot: Paradon-ducking paradox torque. When I looked at the video I was surprised to watch it pop straight up. I need to set and jump higher so that I can twist faster. Next time.

torque-infinity-torque-infinity (off of the foot).

There was more. It was a good day. I love the fall.

Celebrated my getting a new job with changing my attitude in general.

Put on my lavers and hit the streets.

It was the first time I kicked in lavers in probably a year. I was actually surprised by the difference I felt.

To do in lavers what I can do in G-units is attainable, but it requires that my form improve drastically. No more flailing into tricks. Everything has to be solid or the framework, stance, ankle-range-limited form just falls completely apart.

So basically osis' are dodgy and my clipper recklessness is exaggerated. MY stepping sets seem much stronger though. After about half an hour of kicking in them I switched back into my G-units. I then hit new links.

So bloody close to blur paradon. I believe I got two of the dexes on the paradon.

Torque-ducking paradox mirage

a string with bsos ducking butterfly and ducking paradox mirage infinity repeat

that's most of what I remember that was big.

Hit a bunch of consecutive flying clippers back and forth.

Making progress. Need to use lavers more.

Matt hit atom smasher both sides on request and omelette on one.

He also hit toe set ducking double legover

I hit a lot of torques. Many whirls on one side. 2 questionable paradox whirls on the other. Hit legbeater bsos. Many ripwalks. had a good time in lavers for a bit.

Big day.

Tap down bs. Lots of atomic both sides.

Legbeater to ripwalk a few times. Close to sealing with torque.

Really close to Blurry whirl and reverse whirl

I finally hit my first 3 Dex move. Stepping muted same side butterfly swirl. I hit it clean 3 times.

I also hit many ripwalks sealed with paradox mirages and one with torque.

And I got a new day job more relating to my field of study.

It was a very big day for me.

Matt hit some more impressive stuff.

Jake dropped by. He a really cool combo and a cool trick. I'll let him talk about it if he feels inspired

Alright. Yesterday Jake and I made 9 shirts in various assortments of colors. Pretty rad mostly.

Today I started my new job. It was pretty hard to get up early like a normal person but by the time I was done I was raging so hard to forget about life that I almost cried when Matt asked me to join him kicking. I already knew I was going to kick but it was great to have company.

I started out by hitting another stepping muted ss inf. swirl.
I hit some new combos.

leg beater torque,
legbeater dyno
atomsmasher paradon
dyno torque bsos

I hit many legbeaters and many atomsmashers. Both atomic sets were much better than usual. I could practically duck my one sides atomic sets

Some strings were very long. I'm getting a lot better. Having a new job to escape from really seems to make me play a lot harder.

Dyno-torque is nice, but how about torque-dyno? That's one of my fav. repeat drills.

Hey, you guys should totally come to Cornell Footbag Jam 2. October 27th and 28th. You can come and show me some cool local places.

I have been thinking about your repeat drill challenge all along , Ken. :)
Today I finally hit torque-inf. repeat, so I am getting closer to the goal.

It would great to have an excuse to get away, kick, and visit Ithaca again.

Whatt'ya think Yacob?

Torque-dyno is rough. I can't control it enough to link out of yet. I mean, I just didn't do it yet. Kicked it a bunch.

Yesterday was intense. Many, many legbeaters, some great atomics, etc.

Today was interesting. I worked on my toe game. It sucks. Double over down is hard to grasp. I hit so many f'ing paradons today. I did a 15 trick string after some effort after it was suggested and then hit it the other side first try.

Matt is sick. I made him learn Paradon today. I knew he could do it and I was sick of f'ing waiting. He sealed it on both sides with paradox mirages. At first it looked like his one side wasn't going to make it but by the end of the day I am not sure which side was better.

Anyway, so I introduced him to the concepts of stepping sets, playing on your toes and setting from clippers using your support leg. He ended up hitting lots of ducking clippers, not set from toe as a result.

Matt hit 76 consecutive legovers too. Insane.

I spent most of the day sharing my observations and ideas with someone who is naturally better at this sport. It was a pleasure.
