If it is NOT raining, then meet outside near the library. If it is raining, then we can try Fireside Lounge. My number is 585-455-9706. Call if you get there and do not see me around.
Peace.

an invitation goes out to the members of the RFA to join in on a massive session at the Great New York State Fair in Syracuse. It starts this Thursday and goes until Labor Day (or so..). Doug and I are already making plans to go and it'd be a great place to shred. Aric came to Syracuse like two years ago and we played there in front of this "smallest state park" thing. Good times. There are plenty of places we could play, though. It's just there was a putt putt course that wasn't being used and it seemed like it was an open arena for our shenanigans.
get back to me with a PM or just continue the plans here in the footblog. It'd be awesome of either Chris, Mike, Jeff, Paul (?), etc. could make it out.
edit: there's a nominal fee to get into the fair. I can find that out today or tomorrow and get back here and post.

I will not be available for the fair, although it sounds like a great place to play. My band will be playing a show this Saturday http://www.meshfactor.com/ .

aww man too bad you can't make it out, Mike. You shall be missed. Alright I checked the tickets. It's $10 at the gate or else you can go http://www.nysfair.org and you can actually purchase tickets online for $6. If you're into that sort of thing.

Jeff, I would gladly give you a ride, however I wont be able to make it down on Thursday as it is Ians last day in town so I'll probably be hanging out with him all day. I'll talk to him and see if he wants to go down Thursday, but its very unlikely. Friday works fine for me, although idk how inconvenient that is for you Jeff since thats your last day in Rochester.... Hmm, I did mention something to Pat about playing tommorow, so idk if he still wants to do that or not, but if he does then would you be free to play tommorow?

aw damn. A conflict. Didn't see this one coming a mile away. Huh. Alright well Jeff I suggest if it doesn't suck too entirely bad for you to come friday then come. Trust me. Weather won't be an issue. They "say" it might rain towards the end of the day friday but uh. That really isn't that bad considering it's a fair: i.e. pavilions and tents galore. And yes. If you can make it tomorrow you are more than welcome. Read my blog. Restrictions apply.
Oh and as for time, Jeff (for Friday). I'd like this to be an all-day shred so I'd say get to my house around noonish (too early?) and we'll all go in one car to save on parking confusion and expenses. Which reminds me. Thursday's the first day so if we don't want to park and walk 45 minutes to get to the gates then Friday would be better. What I mean is that the fair usually gets a whole lot of people the first day. It's kinda our thing. Everyone in syracuse and outlying regions come to the fair the first day.

Coming to Rochester
Hello all. My name is Katya. Hey Matt. I will be coming to Rochester this weekend and would be able to play on Monday (27th), Sunday (26th) works too but I'd be returning from camping that day and so not sure when I'd be able to meet.
I dont know where you guys shred but I'm sure my friend can drive me there.
Be well.
Katya.

Hey everyone. I can't make it to the friday thing. Weekdays have become impossible for me, but sat/sun are usually good. I'm going to keep weekend sessions a normal thing.
Uhh... everyone's gonna be gone by the end of this month, right? Doug to boston, Jeff to fred, Taylor's already in fl. Mike and Paul are still around, eh? Never heard of kegstock... but will you be available on sunday Mike?
Katya, I'm pretty sure we've met before, either at the Footbag/Drumming new years jam or earlier. Unfortunately I can only come out to play on Sunday, but if that's cool then name a time and we'll kick.
worlds is over, and things are back to normal. i moved into my new place. soon the campus will be active and ready for me to exploit all of its resources. i have ample floor space in this apartment so i want to put together a small jam sometime this fall. everything necessary to do it is available for free. i'll fill in the holes in the near future.

Chris,
I will do my best to make it Sunday. As of today I do not see anything in the way of me being there.
Peace.

Just had a really good solo session and thought I would share some highlights with you. First, let me say shredding with Pat Tallon and Doug Tank and Jeff Hastings has really made a big difference in my progress. Nothing motivates me more than shredding with my friends and people who are better than me. I spent a lot of my last session with these guys talking about stepping sets and posture and it has really paid off. Monday night and tonight I hit so many stepping sets with very little stress and a lot of control. I still have many, many years of doing it wrong to work through but I don't mind knowing now that I am training the right way. The biggest difference in my shred today was that my posture was really upright and I kept my chest out instead of hunching over. Also, I found I can get power from my gut instead of relying only on the strength of my legs.
Alright, enough physiology talk, here are my highlights.
blizzard > whirl > blizzard > paradon
stepping simple legover BSOS
ripwalk > ripwalk > string
stepping legover > pixie legover > pixie clip > repeat
tap > tripwalk (almost both sides)
pixie legover > repeat > pixie pickup > repeat
paradox mirage > smear > ducking butterfly > repeat
paradox illusion > smudge > ducking butterfly > repeat
Peace.

Wow niiiiiice stuff, especially the blizzard bsos combo. I can picture you hitting a lot of that stuff in your style, even the stuff in there you don't normally hit.
It reminds me of one of my favorite moments at worlds: I crashed a barefoot-only circle wearing my q2's. Matt was in it, and somehow we decided to do some RFA shred... it included challenges such as: "Hit Mike Anello to Doug Tank" and wicked combos like Aric McIntosh>Paul Agostinelli. I got tripped up on Matt>Mike; that paradox eggbeater is hard out of a five.

ah, that was a fun little attempt at a cool concept, I'd do better in shoes... I just thought of a great Aric > Chris; toe blur > smoke! although, fume would be a bit more chris-y.
who will go to funtastik? I have a gig friday night, but saturday > monday is free, and I'd really like to go. having carpoolers will make it a lot easier on me. who's into it?
matt
edit: oh yeah, mike, great post!!! that first combo you list is really unmikely, with the stepping out of whirl. love it! I'm glad your game continues to grow and grow, I hope mine will, too. I should play more...

ripwalk back to back and then a string? Excellent, Mike! That sounded like a real gratifying session.
What's this (name) > (name) game. Sounds really funny. So Aric is toe blur, Chris is fume (I'd agree rather than smoke), Mike is pdx egg. . what's Matt, Paul, and Doug?
@Matt - I'm going to funtastiks. Ben's 70% sure he can come as well. First time going! FINALLY!
wish I could make the sunday session. Probably not going to happen though.

so do you want to try and carpool? or what?
there aren't specific moves per name. basically, the idea is to give two names (or any amount), and then, in the order of the names, do moves that each person would do. Even better is to do the move in the style of the person named.
