Hey everyone,
My name is Barrett Neimeth (NYFA) I work at MTV and there have been talks about a "True Life" (Award winning documentary series) episode on footbag. If it happens it will be shot at worlds and we are looking for interesting people to Document for the episode.

If you are going to worlds and are interested please fill out this questionnaire and email it back to me asap (we don't have much time before worlds). If you are considering going to worlds and are interested FILL THIS OUT. If you know anyone that would be interested tell HIM OR HER asap. Players from all countries welcome. I think this could be really huge for the sport.

BAP is an acronym for "Big Add Posse". It's sort of like the hall of fame for footbag, but a lot of people see it as out of date in this day and age.

No. MTV didn't pick it up. I talked to Barrett a little bit at worlds. Not sure if he'll back on modified any time soon. He and some other people are now working on a large scale tournament to happen in NYC in the fall, and then a really huge one (like $50K+ budget) for fall 2008. You know MTV, something has to be "cool" before they can showcase it.

When I spoke to barrett the week before worlds, it sounded like MTV had plenty of interest, it just didn't have enough time to get the funding in place in time for Worlds.

I wish Barret would post something about it here.

Basically they wanted to do something big this fall but just didn't have the time or resources to set it up. So it will be a small jam/tournament for Fall 2007.

Fall 2008 is supposed to be huge though, to paraphrase as best I can "cash prizes UNHEARD of for typical footbag tournaments". Bands, vendors, the works. Central Park.

It's gonna hafta sound awfully good to convince me to go to NYC. No offense to anyone, but I hate that city (several reasons, the top 4 being: 1) The NY Yankees 2) the rude people 3) everything is way too expensive 4) The NY Giants)

oh and in regards to my comment about MTV only airing "cool" things, "cool" was in quotes for a reason. I completely agree James, everything on MTV is lame.

As a New Yorker, I'm gonna get defensive here.

1. A lot of New Yorkers also hate the Yankees, including myself. That's why we have the Mets.

2. In my experience, most rude people in NYC are tourists. I'm serious. If you are a tourist, and you go to touristy places, expect to interact with a lot of tourists on vacation. Maybe its the reputation of NYC, but tourists feel like they have to act tough and rude. Most people who live in NYC are actually extremely polite. Live there long enough, and you'll see a ton of acts of kindness, from people holding doors open, to people returning forgotten purses and wallets on the subway. Rude New Yorkers is a bad stereotype, which I think perpetuates itself more through tourists than anything else.

3. As for things being expensive, I think that's also a tourist problem (unless you are talking about housing, in which case you are right.) If you go to tourist areas in NYC, shit is expensive. But if you know the right places to eat/hang out, it's really not much worse than any other big city in the world.

4. It's really silly to "hate" a place based on its sports teams. But again, if you really hate the Giants, we also have the Jets.

I hate Espenolla because it smells you just pulled into a parking lot located in the diaper burning section of a dump.
It's geographically nowhere near NYC, (near Sudbury, ON, Canada) but it's worth knowing if you're ever gonna go. Bring a noseplug
