Turku Footblog
Turku Footblog
It's time to get back being an active member of this community and to start a new Footblog!
You might remember the old "Turku Footblog" featuring me, Antti and Felix.
I had my own footblog for a while, when Felix moved to Helsinki and Antti had a long break from footbag.
Now Antti has started freestyling again and we're having sessions on weekends (neither of us lives in the city during the week nowadays). We'll be posting here on our solo sessions and shared ones.
We just made this new stretching tip video yesterday.
Check it our if you haven't seen it yet:

I don't think I need much introducing... I'm a 19 year old (soon to be 20) male from Finland. My name is spelled with two s's, which people seem to forget often, that's why I prefere Anz on the forum. I've been playing footbag for about five years now.
Check out the link in my signature for video footage.
Antti can introduce himself.
Expect some TurkuBlogvids! The first one in near future!

Hello modified. Turku is back and busting big. Well not actually.
I´m Antti and I´m a tiltless level player. I have been playing and stitching since 2004 with a varying activity. Still when I didn´t play I stitched but that also come to an end when I run out of facile and Felix refused to sell me anymore.
But yeah, I' m kind of doing comeback to both playing and stitching thanks to Anz and his parents visa.
I´ve been skooling for a month now, probably harder than ever before, mostly bops. I think I´ve had more solo sessions in this month than previous solo sessions counted together. And it has helped. Though today I could have used my 1 hour of practise doing something completely else. My best try at consecutive infinites was 9 while my record is 16. And that 9 was really hard to achieve today. It really seemed that I couldn´t hit anything on command.
I also failed my hunter license exam today by having one mistake too much.
Just wasted two previous evenings, going to lessons straight from work.
I´ll be posting more when I have been playing. I hope next time more positive post

I had a solo session yesterday and two sessions today.
Highlight from yesterday was:
-Blurry Whirl > Stepping Whirl > Blurry Whirl > Stepping Whirl > Blurry Whirl - got the drill for the first time
Highlights from today were:
-Smear > Smudge > Smear > PLO > Pixie Pickup > PLO > repeat - I'm really pleased to hit this drill because I've been drilling my Pixie quite much lately
-Barfly > Whirr > rpt
-Blurriest x4 - my personal record
-Blurry Whirl x8 - my personal record
-Atomsmasher x11 - my personal record
-Ripstein bsos many times
-Almost had Ripstein, Whirling Swirl and Symp Whirling Swirl all beesauced in the same run (had the last Symp WhSw on foot)...
-Terawhirl (Toe ss Whirr) for the first time
I was also trying to hit Whirr x2 but I don't remeber if I got it
If the weather allows it, I'll be filming next weekend.
Statement of the day: Generally Sideways players are better than Bigfoot players!

Since last time I posted I have had four sessions. Pretty much skooled basics.
Haven´t really been hitting anything new except:
whirl>infinity>rpt
infinity>whirl>rpt
Also noticed one huge hole in my basics that needs training on my flip. I´ll be spending at least next month giving that concept speacial "treatment". My semi-official goal is to be able (finally) play guiltless next summer. And hit me with challenges at here if you have some over in your pocket.

This weekend I was chilling out on a friends summer cabin. Antti was there too so we hacked a bit. I hit a new trick: Surging Blender.
Today I had a short solo session with camera. Hit Barfly > Whirr > rpt a couple of times, Whirr > Ripstein for the first time and beesauced Bigwalk in a Genuine run a couple of times.
Next week I'll keep spending time with Whirrs and Ripsteins but I'll try to film on the weekend. If Antti is in Turku on the weekend as well, we'll make our first blogvid.
Statement of the day: Ripstein with small windows is cooler than with large windows!

Hey, why haven't you guys singed up for the finnish champs yet? Only a few more days left!

I said Generally. Check out the Worlds top10 players and see for yourself.Matt K wrote:Do you have a reason for the Sideways players being better than Bigfoot?
Just did!ville wrote:why haven't you guys singed up for the finnish champs yet?
Today I had a short session. Drilled Whirrs, Ripsteins and Stepping. I hit Ripstein out of Osis for the first time and Mobius > Ripwalk propably for the first time.
Tomorrow I'm going to do a little footbag show in public, let's hope it goes well.
Statement of the day: Stretching before and after footbag really pays off!

Had a 1 hour session today. My legs were really sore last weekend so I decided to keep a little break. I think it had a positive effect, except my back is now killing me. (That´s why you aren´t supposed to drop)
What I hit today:
my new tiltless record! 20 contacts: mirage>illusion>mirage>legover>pickup>legover>rpt>atw i-o>atw o-i>ss butterfly>osis> pdx mirage>legover>ss mirage>butterfly>hand catch
Also drilled lots of ducking clippers. At some point when I was doing my flipsides ducking clipper I had this strange feeling, like the move suddenly felt really easy and effortless, like "this is the right way to do the set". I just had somekind of snap in my head because now my flip ducks are better than my old strong side ones
then I hit butterfly>ducking clip BS and right after that on first try over 10 contact run with ducking clipper BSOS both midstring! after that finally ducking clipper B2B starting from both sides.
At that point I was so stoked that I felt can do anything ( well not anything but what I have been close)
So after three tries I hit my flipsides blender. After this my back started to be so sore that I had to quit.

I had a solo session with the camera today. I focused on Whirrs and Furious set. Mainly just filmed single tricks. The highlight was definetly hitting Genesis for the first time, I'm really pleased with that.
Here is the video:

Next week I'll leave Whirrs and Ripsteins aside and start focusing on the Finnish Footbag Championships which are in two weeks.
Statement of the day: Genesis is harder than Nemesis!
