Vienna was just awesome..so many players from so many different countries...great

I also hit some cool things..but the best thing I've hit so far was

Went back to drilling basics and overall my style a bit...I want to learn Drifter, Whirl, Stepping, Pixie, Osis, Butterfly and Swirl this year so there still is a lot to do (all bsos and all perfect of course

)...

Today I hit a good flipside whirl and some flipside steppings and a few flipside Pixies (though only one got above my waist)...I really want to get better now and learn / perfect all kinds of tricks

Euros was so great and I had so much fun (also I decided that I will try to learn Czech ...just for fun

)...Worlds next year in Prague...I defnitely want to go there

Soon I will move to a flat share with five other people...it's much bigger than the place I live in now (though my room will be smaller after all..nevermind that now) and I will make an all weather shred spot

Lots of things are changing at the moment and though I can't wait to move to the new place (which will be in Bern - CH) I still feel a bit strange to leave the place I have been living for the last 20 years...Time to say goodbye to Abtwil..and to my footbag club in St.Gallen because I can't go there anymore (too far away)...Anyway I don't want to feel depressed because life is just far too beautiful

Long time little shred

Problem is I'm always invited to parties or events or short notice holidays (not that this is a bad thing but it makes it difficult to keep up with my footbag practice seeing as I either have a hangover the day after or something else that keeps me from practicing)...

Just came back from a short trip to Italy (Lake Garda)..I cut both my feet and hurt my knee while swimming in the lake (it's water is brown because of the dirt / sand thus you don't see where you plant your feet) it's almost healed by now but of course there's a big party going on this weekend

Next friday I will finally move into the flat share and there I will be able to practice some more I hope (seeing as I will be having an all weather shred spot)...

Session at Footbag club today (finally some footbag

)

-Sidewalk (both sides)
-Ripwalk (both sides easily)

Some nice runs with 2 - 3 add tricks and I died some ankle crank training

Time passes...sometimes slowly..sometimes you feel as if each breath is the equivalent of one day...

that said...

a lot of time has passed since I last wrote in here and , alas, since I last really practised footbag...shame on me

but I'm not dead and after a footbag session in Galway - Ireland I realised that footbag still means a lot to me and a good shred is like...can't even describe it with words...whoever reads this should know

Will anyone read this ? Or is it just me talking to myself...I couldn't give a flying toss to be honest

I'm currently an Erasmus student, and I've been, until recently, traveling the whole of the UK (England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and now Ireland). The traveling is soon coming to an end as I reach my final destination --> Cardiff, the capital of Wales. There I will study for one semester (*study*) and after that I go back to Bern, capital of Switzerland to continue my studies in English linguistics (and literature) and History...

I have made a lot of empty promises concerning footbag...one of them was to found a footbag club in Bern ...whether or not I will actually do that I still can't tell because I have many many hobbies and I'm not entirely sure whether I want to have a club on my mind apart from everything else...time will tell...

However I will try to practise footbag again, more than I did at least and I will try to spread the good word of footbag in Bern the capital of Switzerland, where footbag isn't very well known (yet)

Yeah...and so on...dribble dribble etc.

Footbag still rocks and I'm thankful for having found this sport

P.S.: I hit a very very nice Ripwalk and some Whirls today...of course strings of 2-Add and 3-Add tricks...but I first need to build up the muscles and prepare my sinews for some strain afore I can really pracise again the way I used to

Footbag got me afresh (it's like a drug ...you never really quit)

it's so much fun to practice properly again after such a long time and it's insane how fast I reached my old level

time to learn new things:

stepping set for both sides (atm my strong leg is ok and the weak leg is poor)
pixie set for both sides (same as stepping)

reverse mirage - I know the motion, the movement but still something is missing...I intend to solve that problem asap

whirl both sides (again strong leg is ok and weak leg is poor)

butterfly stringing and overall brushing up of style and strings...

hopefully I will find a good place to practice in Cardiff and maybe spread the good word of footbag

indeed I do

but I plan to practice 2-3 times a week over here in Cardiff and my progress at the moment is almost uncanny

hit flipside ripstein and almost a phoenix yesterday

but I forced myself to improve simply my ankle crank and try to find out what it is that I'm doing wrong with illusions (I can only do it sort of up-/middletime and when I try to do it downtime I just don't dex the bag but a piece of air somewhere close to it)

tried all different kinds of duckings for a while

schooled my pixies with both feet, strong leg is on a very good way to become steady and high, weak leg is still struggling but I hit a dimwalk (or was it parkwalk ? I have to brush up my footbag terminology

)

some osis and generally all kinds of tricks I could think of because a few kids were really interested so I had to show off

one of them said he would love to start so I introduced him to the basics and told him to check out footbag.org

Unfortunately the footbag scene in the UK is tiny and I haven't found any other footbag players wherever I went

still...good to be back...let's shred !!

My feet are on FIRE

I don't know what happened yesterday but if I can keep up that progress ...I can't even tell where I will be in 4 months xD

Had an extreme session with a bad start, one of my footbags got thrown into a drainpipe by a small girl "who just wanted to try it"...lession learned, do not give footbags to small girls or if you do keep a VERY close eye on what's happening with that bag...I tried to get the footbag out of that drainpipe for almost 2 hours straight and I will have another go today but it seems that it might truly be a lost footbag

However, after that really bad start I was determined to end the session on a more positive note and I did !

I hit

- flipside dimwalk
- pixie legover, pixie op mirage, pixie ss mirage, pixie to around the world (basically anything I could think of) with my strong leg

somehow it just made click and my pixies went through a major change ..now I can even do pixie moves in strings with my strong leg and almost with my weak leg as well !!!

furthermore I schooled my whirls and attempted paradox whirl but no luck there so to cheer me up I hit a nice and smooth flipside ripwalk

still no luck on the illusions though I just don't get the dex right but I won't give up

Because I started the drilling rather late it was playing well into the night and used a street lamp in order to keep going and suddenly this guy came up to me and said "hey you are playing footbag !!"...having never come across anyone who actually knew footbag in the UK I was very curious and we started talking a bit. Turns out he knows it from a trip to America and almost started playing himself but he didn't have the perseverance to get past toe stall...however, he is a photographer and does a lot of projects with sports and he really wants me to play for him so he can get some footage of me playing and include it in his next project

Obviously I accepted so I will soon get together with him to get pictures and videos of me shredding in order to embed them into his new project which will have people doing keep ups with footballs etc. in the same frame with me playing footbag...albeit I'm not altogether too happy about the juxtaposition to football I think it's a great opportunity to make people in the UK aware of footbag and get a few good shots of footbag moves

that said it was a brilliant session and I will play some more today because I can barely believe what happened to my pixies

I am also thinking about getting a few more bags and having seen the general level of stitching that is going on at the moment...let's just say it shouldn't be hard to find beautiful bags that are reasonably priced
