I clean up every other week and rarely clean under the bed and behind furniture. Still, it doesn't look too different from this on a regular basis. I've been such a neat freak since moving in. Besides, it's something to do when I'm home. The walls are all still bare and I'm not quite sure what to add to them. I know what I may want to see but it might also be extremely tacky. Bare is fine for now.
Old thin futon on a new Ikea Aneboda bed frame with a metal midbeam. It's just slightly softer than sleeping on the ground. I could have gotten a smaller frame to save space in the room but I've been there and done that already. I need to get a nice mattress or new futon sooner or later. That's something I really want to throw money into. I've got 2 normal pillows for my head and a combination of 2 smaller throw pillows and a giant one to keep from banging my head and arms around while I sleep. Someone commented that they thought those blue sheets belonged to an asian woman. My mom gave me these blue sheets, I swear.
I try not to waste much space so any open area is pretty much used for storage. Anything under the bed stores most stuff that's heavy and I don't need to access regularly. Sturdy and easy to clean off, the plastic bins make organizing quick and easy. The larger bin holds most of my art from school. The 4 smaller ones in the middle and the 2 larger ones at the far end all hold 1/6 scale models and accessories. Way too many. I've had way too many hobbies.
A view underneath the mattress. The large blue condoms on the upper left are actually old bike tires wrapped in recycling bags. Just underneath you can make out a cardboard box that stores an old suspension fork. In the middle left is the large hockey duffel bag you may have seen me use at New Year's Jam and the few out of town events I've been to. Right now it stores winter clothes. On the bottom left are my artist portfolios, 2 large and one medium. The large ones hold all my old life drawing work and numerous large sketch pads. The one at the top of the stack carries 11x17 pads of various types of paper.
My reclining swivel chair from Office depot is infinitely more comfortable than my bed. If I'm in my room and awake, most likely you'll find me in my chair staring into the PC. This was pretty much the only place I could place my desk and computer to avoid the constant glare of sunlight I get from my windows (facing south) during most hours of the day. The wind usually whips between the buildings from west to east but I get the occasional breeze while I work or zone out at the computer. The desk was given to me and it's absolutely craptastic. While it does a fine job of being something to put stuff on, it really sucks to draw on since it shakes from side to side quite a bit. I'm thinking of buying something similar to what my roommate has in the living room for his PC to replace this POS.
Hidden by the chair in the previous pic is my bed stand. I used to have an old monitor sitting in it's place not doing a whole hell of a lot of anything but looking ugly. This is a matching piece to my Aneboda bed and was given as a Christmas present by my best friend.
On top is a cd player/radio/alarm clock. I can't remember the last time I've actually used the cd player but alarm gets me up when I need to and the radio keeps me informed of the weather before I leave the house. I want to change it to something slimmer with no CD player but with a bigger display. It's not really the space that bothers me, it reminds me of someone that took a long goddamn time to forget. Anygay, next to it is where I keep items I use day to day; bike gloves (in the summer), keys, money clip, knife, watch and sunglasses. When I get home I place the stuff here. When I leave, I look here first.
I decided not to install the back panel so that I could run cables behind the shelves for my cell phone charger and studio headphones that connect to the PC. This shelf has my old (and largely unfinished) sketch books from as far back as high school. Below is a wooden box and black carry case full of CD's. That's also where I run the cable for my Sony MDR-V150's. I think I may have seen them in a couple other modifiers photo tours.
The drawer below is where I keep a second watch and extra Fossil (how fitting) sunglasses and two more Spyderco knives with 3 inch blades. What I normally carry around is a Delica with plastic handle a half serrated blade. The others are Harpies, one normal edge with plastic handle and the other thats got a full serrated edge and steel handle. There's also mail, receipts and various other papers in here.
The ViewSonic monitor to the new PC. The pencil holder holds drawing pencils, pens, markers, scissors, erasers and paint brushes. Theres a small pad of paper to jot down quick notes. You can also see one of my Cambridge Soundworks speakers, easily the best part of my old IBM (thanks DanK!). They were so loud no one could tell it was running MP3's from such an old and shitty machine. On the desktop itself is a self healing cutting mat with a 1 inch grid. I've taken all or most of my footbag collection photos on it to easily give scale.
Tower, sub woofer, blank media and miscellaneous cd cases. Thats a volume control to the right of the tower that allows me to crank the noise well past being obscenely loud and can be heard down the block. Got a good price on the PC from the person that built it for me. As long as I can keep the downloaded junk to a minimum... yeah, right.
Portable drawers that used to be from our old dental office. When the Dr. moved to a bigger location he needed all new furniture and I picked this up before he tossed it out. Sitting on top at any given time will be an electric fan, scanner, books, camera bags and/or bike gear - all depending on what I'm into at the moment. Inside is a neat nerds wettest dreams - all the drawer and compartments you could ever need. I will probably be replacing it with a tall and narrow book case. On the left is a study lamp with magnifying glass, my cherished 32 collection and another speaker.
This is where a lot of scale modeling supplies are kept. While I have not put a kit together in years the tools have come in extremely useful many times for making repairs or simple custom projects. There are all kinds of precision screwdrivers, sandpaper pads, nail files, model cement, matches, clippers and all manner of useful junk.
This is one of four smaller drawers. This particular one used to hold more colored pencils and other drawing media. I've since narrowed it down to the basics and used the rest of the space to organize my loose change.
This is one of 3 larger drawers on the bottom half of the portable. Markers! My weapon of choice when applying color by hand to a project. Quick and easy to manipulate and mix. I could rough in color and shapes in seconds or take my time and do a quality rendering. I started with a basic set of 60 or so and over the years its gotten to about 300 markers. Glad I didn't pay for all those...
When planing out my room I knew I needed to supplement the little closet and storage room I would have while taking up as much vertical space as possible. The Ikea Kullen was my first choice since it matched the bed. But I opted for this Home Depot wardrobe since it was a little cheaper and easier to acquire. After dragging the parts up 3 flights of stairs and finally assembling, I almost immediately started noticing the low quality. At least the Ikea would have looked nicer. Still, the wardrobe has grown on me and I've made the most of it. Thankfully there's white trim all around the room to at least match it's color. More shelves would have been nice. On the side near the window I keep a clear plastic tarp that I cover my bike with to keep the rain from rusting out my drivetrain. Next to that is a floor pump for my bike and maybe a special gift come NYJ...
Inside stays generally well organized. I made up for a lack of shelves by buying metal baskets and plastic bins and they worked out quite well. I kept the heavier items at the bottom to keep it stable. The big top shelf is a little awkward but it doesn't bother me enough to make any serious changes to it.
The basket on the upper left contains my boxer briefs. Below are my footbag, jogging and swim shorts. In front is a saddle pack for my bike. On the upper right are my shorter socks for warm weather and below are long thick socks for the cold months. In front are pain killers from when my shoulder was hurt, sun block, strong-ass Chinese ointment for aches and pains, 4x4 gauze and lotion. In the middle is where I just throw my sport boxers and bike shorts.
Here, I hang my shorts, Scottie Pippen jerseys and my fitted performance shirts. In the cardboard box below are my unsold shirts, 4S courts, and sandbags. I want to replace that with a plastic box with handles if I can remember to do it. Next to that is where I keep a pair of red and blue lavers. They're barely used so they don't smell at all.
Sweatpants, denim, track pants and cargo pants. As you can tell, I don't spend much on clothes. Makes it easer to organize! Love those red track pants, all 5 of them.
Sheets, pillow covers, large & small red towels and a pair laundry bags. None of the sheets I use actually fit my futon since they are all made for mattresses. All the more reason to get a new mattress. I also keep my camera bag here. In the bag are extra batteries, storage media and a telephoto lens for the Mavica.
I love these bins! Much more practical and durable than my family's method of using old cardboard boxes. Looks better too. I store a light up flying disc on the side.
Bike parts. Helmet that I hardly ever use even though I know I should. I'm pretty reckless. Bike lube, brushes, lights, spare collar and inner tube. There are a lot of small parts that I have replaced from my bike that are in here. Too many to name. I'm already running out of space in here.
Ankle wraps, knee and ankle support, jock strap w/ cup, knee pads and a martial arts white belt that belongs to my older brother. Most of this was used the few times I practiced Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. I'd l want to learn BJJ or Judo some time.

Past the wardrobe is my closet. Well, my half of it anyway its actually one long closet that can be accessed by both rooms from their respective sides.
All my t-shirts to the right and long sleeves,sweaters and hoodies to the left. I keep all my signed shirts to the far right so I don't accidentally put them on since I tend to reach for the middle for something to wear. Most of them are directly footbag related or something comfortable enough that I can play in them. I have quite a few old shirts that I just wear around the house. I love the look of uniform hangers - sorry, I came from such a sloppy family.
On the closet floor is a basket for dirty clothes and a sled that doubles into a joust shield. In the far right corner is a red folding chair that I use for picnics and local events. This used to be full of mostlye empty boxes and more old computer monitors. I'm so glad I cleaned all that shit out. I can't stand the sight of useless junk lying around.
Top of the closet. Again, use up as much vertical space as possible. Some of the boxes from the floor that I mentioned earlier were moved up here once the the shelves were put up. More stuff that I don't need on a daily basis that could not fit under the bed and is light enough to store up here; sleeping bag, spare PC parts along with other odds and ends.
So, thats my Bedroom at LaRAZA. Pretty boring.
