Looks like you have some really great bops/foundations :D

Sounds like you ankle is a bit messed up, you might want to have a look at this:
http://modified.in/footbag/viewtopic.php?t=16555

after my injuries I found barefoot play to be the best way to play without the risk of re-injuring.

Hope you make a good recovery. :D

edit: sorry to start a new page

Hey Mike, good to hear you're doing better, I can't wait to meet/shred with you. Don't worry about me passing you up!!! haha. I'm still having some trouble with pretty basic elements, so it'll be a while before I'm any kind of good.

talk to you later

janis,

Thanks. I was, ok now working on it again.

Blake,
Great to meet and kick with you finally! Keep up the good work!

I recently starting kicking again the last few weeks. I kicked about 10 times since my last net session in LA May 20th I think. Lately I have been just taking it easy and trying to see what I can and can not do since my ankle is only about 90 or 95% back to normal. I can still feel it a bit when I push off to much. Some combos and tricks make it worse so basically it is a lot of tiltless. I think a few more adjustments and the ankle should be 100%! I have a lot to work on. Josh has gotten soo damn good! Insane shit! It is great to kick again tho! I have missed it sooo much! I love footbag!

I have to call Amy and start to kick net again too! I will get back in town on Friday 10/12 at 3:30pm. How about a shred session at about 4:30? I will email you guys!!

Check out my new site link below. Want more energy, more mental clarity, prolonged workouts, etc. This is great. All natural with a composition patent and clinical studies to back it up. Check out the Doc's credentials!

later all! It is great to be back!!! Yeah!!!

a quick post before I have to get back to work.

We had a great kick on Friday the 12th. I got back from Rio Rancho, NM and went to the kick. Josh and I had a bite to eat at Baja Fresh. It is a good whitetizcan food. We had a 5 man circle total.

Josh was kicking like a mad man. he is getting so good. His 3's, 4's, and 5's are getting so good and his runs are much longer. He must have more fiber in his diet.

Jason, a new kicker, finally was able to make it out. He has really good kicks and uses all the kicks. I taught him how to toe stall. He got them real quick but then had to go. I think he had a hot date. Ok. just a dinner date!

Blake was kicking good too. He had a few longer strings. Repeat tricks more. More adds!

Conrad showed up later. I guess he was working or hardly working. He hurt his quad mucles getting out of his car :?: so he didn't kick much. Hopefully the old man will take care of himself and come out with his blades blazing next friday!

I was kicking pretty good. I was doing mostly 2's since I still have to take care of the ankle. It is getting much better tho. It was great to kick again. A lot of good drillin! I had some great puns too! haha. Like the one when Blake said his set was only about 6 inches off the ground. I said size does matter. yeah i know keep working at them! haha!

ok back to work!
later all....

Finally some time to post an update. some great kickin this week. I worked out wed 10/17 for about an hour and then kicked for an hour. I just worked the basics. My drifters and torques are feelings great. They are still both a bit crispy but I guess i have to start some where.

On Thursday night had a 2 hour one pass session with Amy Westburg. It was great to work on my net skills. Amy is having a NET tournament here in Tempe, AZ in the middle of Jan. 08. I will help her. Hopefully I can get the other member of the club to help out a bit too. I have to get them on a NET court one of these days. It sounds like she already has so big name net players coming out. Also it sounds like 3 of the OOPs guys are coming out. Then we can have some freestyle session too! Big Add Chad! Yeah!

On Friday Blake, Tyler and myself kicked for about 5 hours. It was good to break Tyler back in. His Toe stalls are much better. He hit LO BS, clipper BS, and hit 2 clips in a row on one side. I think his legs were about to fall off.

Blake was doing great! He hit osii will a little help from me! I think he got 3 in a row and also hit osis to strong butterfly a few times. nice! Flip ripwalk which I think he said he hit before. Also footed spinning clips and ducking clips a few times too

As for me I was just working the 2 add's mainly with a few BOP's thrown in once in a while. I hit barrage on one side, terrage a few times, some torques, drifters, dyno, smears, pixie lo, whirls, rev whirls too. Had a great runs with 2 smears, drifter, dyno, and a lot of 2's and some BOP. It is coming back. My legs are not even sore. ahh Maxgxl is great! My ankle is a little sore tho. Just a bit. I have to stretch it and massage it the night before I go into the chiropractor next time so he can get a better adj. He didn't get much movement last time since the muscles are were tight.

Great session guys! There are a few other kickers that may come out to kick soon too! The club is getting a bit bigger now! Always good to have the weather cool off!

until next time..

Had a great session on Friday 26th. We had a 3 man circle and had some good spectators. Tempe Beach park is definitely a good place to play. It is down by the river so they have a lot of people walking, jogging, and biking by. Occasionally you have a car drive by too. It is weird since it is a walk path. I think it is from the people that are having the events at the park.

Blake was kicking pretty good. He hit like 3 new tricks. The only one I can remember is Legbeater! nice!

Conrad was doing better. His left quad still hurts him. That will teach him to get out of his car and rush to the kickin spot. He was getting some good guiltless but the runs were short. I would say work on tiltless more. I like what was said in D.C. blog about working on the foundation. I think that will help me out more later on. As long as my age don't catch up to me. haha.

As for Josh he didn't make it again. He said *Tears start to fall*. So he does miss us or maybe it is playing footbag.

I was kicking ok at the beginning and died in the middle and then had a better session at the end. I think the 4 hours of sleep got to me. I just keep working the 2's, 3's, and a couple of 4's. My flip torque feels good. I almost had dyno to dyno again too. I had a few good runs for some spectators tho. After a session my ankle still feel sore. argh.... Slowly..... I don't really have any highlights, midlights or even lowlights just working on the foundation. More adds!

Josh... maybe bring your camera this friday so we can maybe try and film. This time we can take it our your bag. haha.

10/30 --- had a 1 hr 45 min solo session. I worked a lot of 2's and 3's. Also worked on my breathing and endurance. I am definitely out of shape compared to were I was back in May before the ankle haunted me. That day was rough too since I had 4 hours of sleep and trained 2 hours in kung fu and lifted weights for 30 mins. Yeah! 6 pack here I come. Ok now just don't eat to much! That is the hard part. I love food and Footbag!

11/2 Friday Unity's session. about 4 1/2 hrs. (for Blake and I)

Josh -- no show. You guys on modified quit ripping into people about their game. Can you be more positive and not so critical. Geesh.
Josh your Footbag game is amazing! Keep it up!

Blake -- was doing great. He had a few strings and hit a few new tricks. Post something will yeah. I can't remember everything. Ok I can't remember any of the new tricks. he did hit 3 osii in a row, flip ripwalks several times, etc.

Conrad -- a quick showing. He had to go the store. He car is jacked. He was doing better. he said his thigh muscle is better but not 100%. Old man has to watch it. pixie sym DLO was nice! Had some great torques too. The looked way better then usual!

Tim -- Blakes friend and now ours. He already has some toes stalls and insides. His insides are better then his toes. Then we helped him with his clips and mirage. he hit both clips in no time. He has talent. Close on his mirage on one side. He has a triatholone to compete in the next day. Doh~! 8O

Me -- I was doing ok. Just working the BOP's more. They are slowly coming back. I still could only get about 9 or 10 butterflies. It seems like my flip butterfly bad habit still is there. I also worked atomics and pixies. If I keep the pixie's closer I get the set about chin height. Yeah! Phx here I come. I still need to get my knee up and over on the flip atomic instead of over with the knee. What a bad habit. Got close to dynox2 and atom smasherx2. A few whirls, DATW's, and terrages in there now and then too.

Still have to watch my ankle. I landed hard a couple of times and felt it. It is ok today. I stretch it really good each day and it helps. I have another apt at the chiro's to get him to adj it again.

One highlight:
dyno>zooming clip

Maybe a Wed solo shred!

Unity's Footbag Friday kick
A good session after I finally showed up. I got there a bit later then I wanted. I did get some extra sleep tho. :D We had a 3 man circle going. After I got there I had to get warmed up quickly. We actually had at one time about 10 to 15 people watching. WOW! To bad I couldn't get a long run during that time.

Thursday I had a good adjustment on my ankle. It popped real good in both directions. My chiro said try not to do any repeditive movements. Is Footbag considered repeative? Nah! haha. For the love of the game I had to play. Now my ankle is a bit sore today. I will deal with it.

Josh - MIA.

Conrad - He was doing great. He had several good runs throughout. He had a nice cross body sole, haze, bedwetter off the foot & a few other things. Conrad you have a blog!

Blake was doing great. He hit atom Smasher and a couple of other things. His runs are getting longer and he has more control.

I was kickin ok. Kicked about 3 1/2 hrs. I thought i would kick better since I had more sleep but that was not the case. Blake left about 9:30 so it was just a 2 man circle to finish off the session. That sure take a lot out of you. I was working my butterfly's a lot. My flip still sucks. I think it went down to about 30%. I guess that it was I get for taking off so long. Ahh. not my fault tho. NOw I will have to work butterfly's till I hit my 100 in a row!! I still drop my stall foot and don't sink into my support leg enough. Bad habits are tough to break sometimes. I'll getter done tho!

Highlights:
dyno>dyno
dyno>zooming clip (again!)
run>torque>infinity> couple more tricks! Yeah! Felt nice and clean too!
dyno>almost torque
atom smashers and smears ( getting cleaner and easier)
smear>atom smasher>run (only on strong side tho) tried to BSOS but no luck
tapping ss PU
pixe op PU
magellen's (only one on each side. need to work those!)

Had a great pun towards the EOS and Conrad added to it but now I forgot what he added. I said that Fairy was gay. Conrad? What did you add?

Also on Numb3rs from Friday night. They were having a deep conversation and one of the guys said, ' how come I feel like there is a hairy but coming on, pardon the pun." Anyway you had to see it.

Not sure if I will kick on friday since my ankle is sore today. By the end of the week I seem to always change my mind because I am in Love with Footbag! :D

Time to finally post an update. I kicked with Tyler on 11/13. The session was about 3 hours long with a hr of situps and lifting afterwards. Tyler last 1 1/2 hrs. He was doing great too. We kicked at Discovery park off greenfield/pecos. It is a new park and has white lights on its basketball courts so it works out great.

Tyler's highlights:
- 3 clips in a row on strong - 2 on flip
- 2 mirages in a row on strong side - 1 a few times on flip
- 3 or 4 LO's in a row
- PU

My highlights:
- 4 or 5 smears in a row on strong
- 2 smears on flip
- 23 osii
- 20 clips
- 8 & 9 butterfly - flip came back to haunt me. not sinking down on support leg and dropping stall foot.

On Thursday I did situps and lifted for a while. Then I kick for about an hour. I worked flip clip and infinities. It seems like it is back to were it was before I injuried my ankle. Good news though. My ankle is feeling really good. I am going to continue to work the flip butterfly and clip more to get rid of those bad habits. I think once I do that my game will step up a lot. I am sure then I can do the 100 clips and butterfly's! :D

No kick on Friday for me. I wonder if the guys kicked? Also looks like Ken S. is almost done with school Wow time flys!!!

Ok back to work!

Finally kicked last night for over an hour. I lifted and did situps first. I just worked flip clips and butterflys and infinities. I want to work out the kinks on the flip clip and butterfly so my runs flow better. Then I will work rips, whirls, swirls, etc. I feel almost back to 100%. Cold is gone. Ankle and knee is feeling great! Time to train more!

Wow I am surprised people read my blog. :D I read a lot of other blogs and really enjoy them all. It is an interesting way to get to know other people that I haven't met yet that love this sport as much as I do. Also it is interesting to see where people have been, where they are going and what other interests they have. Their ups and downs throughout life reminds me of some of the shit I went through and unfortuately still go through. Such is life. :D  Got to love it!

X-mas and new years coming up, again! 8O So quick. I need to get my shit together too. I started to study Japanese again. So fun too! I need to work on guitar (have to dust it off first), pool (I should work on going to get my BCA cert), kung fu, and footbag more ! I will make a schedule and stick to it from now on! Life is great and getting better and better! :D

Some of my friends go through a lot now and then and I wish I could help more but have to have faith they will pull through. I can only do so much. I will always be here if they need me though!

Take care all!

Good to hear you are feeling closer to your old self. We should get together in late December/early January and kick the old legball around. I can also practice Japanese with you if you like.

Ken,

Hi! Good to hear from you. Let us know when you get here so we can kick some! Try not to let school get to you to much.

I should finally post a update here for the week. I kicked several times this week. Sun 12/2 and Tue 12/4 for about 45 mins before work, on wed 12/5, thur 12/6, and Sun 12/9 for about 1 hr 1/2. I mainly worked flip clips and butterflys with a few ducking and diving clips in there. The flip clip is slowly getting better and the flip butterfly is off/on still. Have so many kinks to workout of it. Even though it is pretty frustrating it is still fun. The week was pretty great! I got a lot of kicking in, had some fun and got some things done. Met a good friend too! :D :D Got a great bonus from work. Yeah! :D

My kung fu is slowly coming along too. If anyone want to check out the style that I take here is my instructors website.
www.ebmas.net

The club didn't kick on Friday because of the weather and other things going on. Looks like they are kickin Tuesday night when I have to work. argh.... Hopefully friday we can kick tho! Been raining a lot tho.

Midlights for the week:
playing with squeezes for the hell of it
- squeeze to op toe bs
- squeeze to op LO bs
- squeeze to cross body rake one side. (rolls off calf to pop in the air)
- squeeze to clip ( like a drifter so not sure if I get the all the adds tho. Only hit is once on strong clip side. Have to lift the knee high to release the bag and go under support leg to get the clip. I guess the leg goes over it halfway since it is behind the knee already)
- 5 ducking clips
- a few good diving clips on flip. maybe the flip clip is getting a bit better. Not sure because it flips out now and then still. pun nah.. Can only get about 20 clean alt clips and about 10 butterflys still.....

I will try to kick before work tom and also on Wed.

later....

We had a good Unity session on Friday 12/14 for about 4 hrs 15mins. Ok well I lasted the whole time. Everyone bailed earilier then I did. It was Blake, Conrad with cold and all, Josh, and myself. Despite the cold we all did pretty good. I know, I know it was 40 degrees F. 8O Shutup I know what cold is I grew up in MT. It is all relative. When you are used to 100 degree that is cold so there... Oh yeah then there was the music. We where listening to Josh's Ipod but then they turned on the holiday speakers. doh! There was like 5 or 6 songs looped for 3 or more hours of hell! They had Charlie Brown, Jingle Bells, etc. I could just picture Blake sitting at a very small piano with his knees sticking up high playing Charlie Brown blues....

Blake was doing good. Yes, despite the cold. He was hitting longer strings and had some nice flowing combos. Just needs to slow down a bit.

Conrad was doing great. Yes, despite the cold and his cold. He was sniffling between ADDS! Then to top it off he brought only a shirt! 8O WTF! I know your from MN but still. Ok. His kicking was doing great despite his 3 weeks of no kickin, the cold, and his cold. wow! 8O He had several longs runs. The usual drifters, pixie stuff, atomic, a surprising quantum, etc. Nice stuff! Oh yeah drill your osii like you drilled your pixies and drifters and your runs will be twice as long. Just a Mike and Josh op.

Josh was doing great. His game keeps improving. He is a natural. What can I say but despite the cold.... haha. He had the camera out but it was a bit dark and far away so we will see if we can get some footage. Before I forget it the middle of one of Josh's run Blake mentioned that he was all twisted on one of his sym pdx torque (or one of those tricks) and I said he is like Gumby.... haha. That might stick....

It sucks when you can't remember to many highlights or even midlights. I am getting old. haha. Ok as for me I was doing ok. Trying to stay warm and drill the flip clip/butterfly. I had a couple of good runs on film.

Highlights & mid's:
- dyno>torque handcatch.
- good torques on my good side which was flipside. strange....
- 3 runs of more then 25 (tiltless of course)
- 21 osii
- 22 clips
- 4 ducking clips

low's:
- butterflys... only still about 10... argh....

Note to self: fairies suck! haha... Also need more more practice...

It was great kickin with everyone! Been way to long! Everyones game is getting better. It looks like Conrad and Blake will be gone for X-mas and I will go over to NM to work for a few days so I doubt we will get in another session this month. Time for drillin then! January should be a great month for Footbag. Hopefully we can kick with KEN when he visits Tucson and then on Jan. 19 thru 21 there is a NET tournament here in Tempe! Yeah! The OOPS guys are coming over to kick too! Yeah!!

alrighty.... Despite the weather things are great.... We'll and the X-mas songs stuck in my head... ouch...

Had a couple of good solo sessions over the last few days. Friday I kicked for about 1 1/2 hours and Saturday night kicked for about 1 hr 45 mins. My legs feel great. My endurance is slowly getting better. My string length and flip clip/butterfly (blip is what I will call it till I get it to work more consistantly. ) still sucks. I got some video footage on the digital camera for my own critiqueing (sp?). I want to figure out what I am doing wrong on my flipside. It seems like to many things. Over analyzing? Maybe.... Must be the engineer in me. Luckily I am not a designer so I realize everything is not ideal!

Friday the wind was nasty. Hard to stay warm. I have my garage door all insulated so it was comfortable Saturday night when it was 40 outside.

I will keep working at the flipside and touch on the other stuff just so I won't lose it. This week should be interesting since I have to work night shift then day shift at the EOW when I go to NM to work. I guess it pays the bills. I will try to kick and workout as much as I can.

Happy Holidays everyone!

A quick post before I have to get to work. Yes, I work sometimes. I went to Rio Rancho, NM to fill in for one of the guys at work. It is always interesting to go back. I don't want to move there but it is good to go back & see a few friends. Also I have a chance to learn a few things now & then since the tool set is 5+ years old so they run differently & they have other interesting problems. Also now they are installing new & used tools in the refurbished section of the fab. They never learn from other fabs they have done. It is amazing. They always try & reinvent the wheel. I think people just want to put there name on it so they get credit instead of looking at what other have done & just make it better to fit what they are doing. Since it is all the same really I don't see why they don't. What do I know I am just a vender anyway.. Sorry just babbling & complaining a bit. It is part of the job so I should be used to it already. I keep telling myself it is one of the best jobs I have had & it pays pretty good so why complain. blah....

It was pretty cold out. Again that is all relative. It is about 20 degrees colder there then in Phoenix so I didn't want to kick outside. I kicked in my hotel room on Wednesday night. There is just enough room. I decided to kick with my newer bag since my good bag is falling apart. My newer bag is yellow and orange so on the wild hotel carpet it is hard to see. I worked out a bit with some situps & kung fu and then kicked for about 1 hr 15 mins. I was pretty tired since I worked during the day & I usually work at night. I just worked on blips. I think I have moments of clarity where my muscles understand the timing but then I try on the next one & the bag floats to the side.

I haven't had time to kick since I got back since I only have a little time before I have to go to work. argh.... I have been working on my kung fu more. I am doing a lot of footwork & hand drills trying to get more flow & speed. This takes time just like footbag since I am only human. Also my Japanese is slowly coming along. I have a 20 drive to work so I listent to some Japanese CD's. I should have kept practicing & did this years ago. Chalk it up to life's frustrations. They are definitely getting less & less. Maybe that is age & experience that helps reduce those issues.

Holidays have always seemed like just regular days since I my work schedule never changes (on holidays 98% of the time we work. It is a 24/7 fab.) & I haven't had snow since I left my parents place back in 92'. Things are going great! Can't say much now. Just trying to get things organized & take care of some things that need to be resolved!

January is a busy month for me. I am not sure if I have time to go kick in Tucson or not. I switched a few days of work during the second week in Jan so the 10th & 11th I work. I also have some business meeting to go to on the 8th & 22nd. I think the only days I have available to kick now is the 4th or 5th. Also we have a Footbag NET tournament too. wow busy.... Timing is all messed up.... Anyway we will see..... I will look more into it.

later all.....
