excessive ONE SHOE (lavers) deterioration with pics

Post by Tim »

Alright, I've had these lavers for about a year. Most of that time, I wore them everywhere which wasn't a great decision but hell they are good looking shoes and who knows when someone will want to kick :)

But over the past couple months, especially since I started getting back into footbag, I've only worn them for kicking and will so from now on. ANYWAY, one of the shoes is in a lot poorer condition then the other and I want to know if that means something. Maybe about the way I walk and/or the way I shred.

I never bought insoles just to let you know and that was another poor decision that might have led to this. If it's not too late and these shoes aren't bad for my legs, I will buy a pair. Anyway, here are the shoes...

Yes my sock does show...

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Did you reverse mesh mod only one panel? Strange.

The wear you're experiencing is most likely a walking thing. Try taking a few steps being conscious of what part of the shoe strikes the ground when, that may provide some answers.

Haha yeah like 6 months ago I did it, thinking it was the way everyone did it. Shortly after, like 10 minutes, I realized it wasn't. I modded the other shoe the right way when I was at Worlds just for the hell of it and I love it. I agree I need a new pair, and will probably get some in a month when I have some spare money. This time I'll mod them properly.

 So I got to walking, and that's definitely the reason. When I walk naturally, my foot goes heel, then the inside of my foot, and then the outside. I don't know WHY it does that but it does and I guess that's not the way people usually walk, eh? Also, why one side is MORE like that might be from mainly using that foot as my main support leg when I used to kick only on one-side. A nasty habit I'm getting rid of slowly but steadily.

Alright, spend more time on my toes, got it. That's gonna be tricky getting used to but I'll do it. Next time I kick it I'll do it.

Thanks for the help guys.

GET INSOLES. Definitely worth it for the health of your shoes and more importantly, your body. Spenco Crosstrainers are the recommended ones. I have a pair of Superfeet that I love, but they will run you $30+

If one shoe is wearing out faster than the other, then you are likely not an evenly bothsided player. Try to do every trick evenly on both sides; you will use both feet equally, and your shoes should wear out more consistently...

Well, I think that is likely part of the problem, anyway.

Yup, I hear that name Spenco a lot. Alright, I'll pick some up this friday and transfer them till my new lavers when I get them. Cha ching!

Yeah Erik, it's definitely part of the problem. Since worlds, I'm doing EVERYTHING both sided starting with the basics. I think I'm doing well too.

I agree that it's probably more a walking thing than shredding. I'd consider myself a fairl bothsided player and the difference in wear on my left and right foot is much more exaggerated than that. I wear my lavers all over the shop. I have new ones breaking in now though. I wear them clubbing cause they're not ratty yet 8)

New insoles are way way way way less important than fixing your style. you should play around your toes/ball of your foot all the time, so I would fix that first. There should be almost no wear on the sole behind the front half of your foot. Once you fix your style insoles don't mean a thing; in fact i always play with no insoles and the feel is great.

the laver sole actually has it pretty well laid out where your foot should be centrally hitting the ground - that little target thing that's always right under your big toe. i don't know if you ever got a chance to check out vasek's soles, but nearly all the wear is right on the little circle and a little more on the toe. aim for the target!

also like erik said, playing more bothsided will help the wear even out.

peace,
sb

oh yeah, def play more on your toes. my heels are barely worn out at all, even with walking. My left shoe is actually really uncomfortable now cause I have insoles in the but the wear make me foot go an awkward angle.
