-more than half of the people there are americans
-half of the town is actually an army base
-fights go down there almost every second weekend involving drunk g.i.joes
-i have never started a fight, bet that sounds like a load of crap..ohwell
-i have had many injuries

- My name is Samuel Francis Potter. People used to make fun of my name for some reason -- no, not the obvious one.
- I identify with a lot of posts on here detailing their alcoholic relatives and their abstinence from drinking, despite the fact that I have been blackout drunk a couple times and drink semi-regularly (several times a month). I also smoke cigarettes somewhat more frequently, marijuana much less frequently, and have done mushrooms twice (they were silly). I have never felt any addictive tendencies towards any of those substances, which I owe to my mother.
- I recently graduated from high school and I am taking a year off before going to university. The reason I decided to do this was because I feel like no one really learns anything in high school and that some real life experience is necessary before I take off for an institution where my parents will invariably throw down an exorbitant load of skrilla manila. Actually, there's a lot more to it than this. I feel very, very strongly about this decision.
- I currently work at a retirement home, apprenticing as a prep cook. I really like my job and had a 60 hour week immediately after worlds.
- I'm living rent-free with my parents so that I can save up a fat ton of cash so that I can spend several months in Europe in the late Spring/summertime.
- I feel like my Spanish is... fair-pretty good, I guess. I've been to Costa Rica and Guatemala.
- Estanzuela, Guatemala is the most beautiful place I've been to culturally and aesthetically.
- I want to study languages in college. I'm really fascinated by Portuguese at the moment. I'm thinking about at least testing the waters of Chinese, Portuguese, French, Japanese, and Korean (seeing which I like most) and continuing my Spanish education. I'm planning on going to UBC because Vancouver is the dopest place ever and I predict there will soon be a happening footbag scene there.
- Tournaments unnerve me because I like a lot of different people in footbag a lot but find that they're generally bored and uninterested in me. I think ultimately I'm just really slow to get to know people well.
- I play footbag for an hour a day, like Dr. Dre. Who ya think taught me how ta bust threes?!
- I've beaten Jeremy Mirken and Fletcher Funk at Scrabble but probably couldn't repeat the feat. As Jeremy said, "I killed god."
- I fucking hate pretentious people because of the high school I went to. Self-styled masters of the universe can burn for all eternity.
- I'm pretty judgmental sometimes.
- I really enjoy reading. I'm in the middle of Hakagure, Mere Christianity, and the Wheel of Time series.
- I'm a geek and I love fantasy.
- I am not religious. I used to think I was a hardcore atheist/nihilist but that was just a sign of the times. I identify with Taoist beliefs. The Tao Teh Ching is a really worthwhile read.
- I really love to learn! Lately the greatest things I've learned are how little I know about a lot of things. These lessons are huge gateways to further learning.
- I don't identify with the person who said that if you think you're going to live forever, you won't. My great grandparents lived to be over 100 and all of my grandparents are in their late 80's and very coherent. I'll see you bastards in 2100!

That was a really interesting one. Thanks Sam.
Watch out for the year off before university, though... people say it's hard to go back once you've taken the break, and it so is. It's sooo hard after being free with lots of money...

I found this really weird, because you seemed so outgoing at Worlds, and I actually felt kind of like what you're describing, and so I felt awkward saying hi or anything... like not in a bad way, more in an awkward post-fact realization way. (It took me a while to figure out how to say that without making it sound bad...)
