Meh, they aren't any uglier than modded goonits or modded twill lavers. The canvas under the leather in the Laver is more durable I heard than the g-unit.
JP spraypainted his with glow-in-the-dark paint on the modded surfaces.
They're footbag shoes. Does it matter anyway? Modded, destroyed shoes look fly.

The only draw back is the mesh under the leather tends to wear out faster that mesh.
Depending on how big your foot is the material might strech and get weaker and weaker until it rips. I use shoe goo or barge cement to fix up early streching before it gets bad.
The leather lavers to me seem to have a better clipper because of the groove you leave after modding off the leather.
The toe still is the same as the mesh laver except for less of a feel for the bag until the toes break in.
There is usually a stiff feel yo the shoes at first because they were glued to the leather but thats not a problem after break in.
Depending on the size and color of your shoe there are different types of mesh under the leather.
For larger sizes of laver the material under seems thinner and weaker and for small feet the material seems stronger and stiched better.
I got to go to class so Ill finish up this write up after school.

It takes some time, but you can always replace worn out surface material with facile. The clipper area is pretty easy to mod, but there might be some difficulty with the toe (in terms of sewing and glueing the material into the right areas. That's what I think, and I think facile works a bit better than the fabric that is used on the shoes. It does insulate your feet more, so they will stink.
