Phone call today at the office. For those not in the know, I'm a dental assistant...

patient: Hi, I'd like to make an apointment for a cleaning on Friday

Me: Friday and the next 2 weeks are completely booked

patient: Oh, I see. When is your next available opening?

Me: [I explain our hours of business and what days were closed and that we're usually booked solid (read:NO OPENINGS) 2 weeks in advance] What day of the week and what time of the day are you available?

patient: Anytime.

Me: Ok, I've got Wednesday 3 weeks from now, 3 in the afternoon.

patient: Oh no, I'm working.

Me: Oh, I thought you said you were available anytime

patient: No, I work until 5.

Me: I don't have any 5pms openings for about a month.

patient: Oh, that's too long, you don't have anything this Friday?

Me: We're all booked on Friday.

This repeats itself for another 5 fucking minutes. People can be so god damned stupid.

LMAO!!!!! That's freakin terrible!

Ended up getting out early on Sat cuz the last patient canceled. I guess it wasn't an emergency after all. Went to Ikea with Reile to pick up some new furniture. Shopping went well for the most part. Reile ended up getting a new desk and I'm buying his old one since they didn't have the same model at Ikea, not complete anyways. It was the best fitting of all the options I had. There was some obnoxiously loud lady near one of the desks that I was checking out. She grabbed her purse as if she thought I was going to steal it from her. Fucking stupid bitch, if I wanted your bag I would have stuck you in the mouth then donkey dropkick your vagina and make your grandchildren come out retarded. Fuck you, twice on Sundays.

Things were fine until Reile started putting his desk together. His power tools randomly died, some parts of the desk didn't fit well together and it did not fit into the corner with the new bookcase. His PC temporarily pooped out on him too, Jeezus Christ! He was really frustrated at it all just working against him. I tried to help out wherever I could seeing as how none of this would have happened if I just didn't get a desk at all. I suggested we rise the book case so that we could slide the base of the desk underneath and also shaving one of the shelf supports to help it fit onto the hutch. Some help, since his tools died he had to do it all manually with a hack saw. It all worked out in the end. We're probably never buying anymore furniture ever again.

Fairly chill session on Sunday. Started out with Nathan and I talkin a fair amount of shit before finally starting a hack circle. Freddy soon arrived followed by Tom whose BBQ was postpwnt. It eventually turned into a shred and Reile arrived just as I stepped out to take some pics. We ended up setting up the court for 3 games of 2S. I'm still continuing to play well but Reile seemed to still be in a funk, maybe from the furniture snafu or maybe ligering effects of the sound effects kid from the previous weekend. I took all 3 games, 2 of them were pretty brutal.

Marty showed up just as we finished the final match. He and Reile squared off while I took pics. Freddy came over as Reile went to the circle to shred. We played several lightning quick rounds of all 3 versions of Highlander, winning at least a pair of games each. Played a single game of DDR then played long game of Roulette with Aces (Ksq)/One Eyed Pirate (2sq)/DDR. We added Ong Bak when Cuba and Twitch showed up.

We started a game of Highlander Beta (first person to Ace everyone else wins) and I was close winning when I aced all but Cuba. But that's when the shred circle broke up and Tom and Reile entered the game. Shit! I got lucky by acing Tom first, that really boosted my chances of winning. I eventually got Cuba just as other people starting scoring more aces. All that was left was Reile. At that point, though, everyone kept the bag from me or kept killing Reile or Reile kept killing Reile and a couple dozen rounds must have passed before I finally got a chance. With Reile in King and me in 3sq, Marty botched a kill and ended up giving me an easy pass. I backed away from Ksq to set up. Someone kept jumping into my square to try and intercept any of my attempts. I decided to move back towards Reile while guarding my kicks with my arms. I actually blocked a snake attempt from Tom with my right arm and kept on kicking towards Reile. I got into position with my back to the line peeking behind me every other kick (while still guarding) to see where he was. I thought I saw him move right so I body screened a kick towards my left knee and shifted out of the way last second to see it drop past the line and into his square - for an ace! FTW! Finally.

After squares we sat and chilled a bit. I was hoping to hang out somewhere but we all ended up leaving. I managed to bike home just before Reile got there. I didn't realize how dehydrated I was until I struggled my way up the back stairs with my bike over my shoulder.
Good session.

Still tearing it up at squares. 2-square, specifically. Tom picked me up and we went to De Paul. We just used the squares on the sidewalk. After a quick warm up we started the first of eight single games. He jumped to a commanding lead early but I managed to scratch my way to 5 or 6 before he eventually won. I took the next 4 games in a row. A few of them coming back from 5-0 and 6-1. He won the last 2. One of them being really close when we were locked at 10-10 for several rounds.

My left foot was connecting when it needed to, I was successfully defending line drive shots to my thighs and hips, aggressively going after short shots at the line, going after shots that may have been heading past my back line, just in case and continuing to play after a good shot in case he defended it.

Offensively, I got quite a few kills by standing deep in my square and kicking the bag just high enough in a wide arc that landed just past the line in his front right corner. It's basically the same pass that I use in a co-op screen. By the time he started making adjustments to it I started double tapping or blasting to his back line. My body screens were working a fair amount and was very effective with the sweep & screen (aka cannon). Hm, sweep & screen... screen and sweep... S.A.S. ... Sauce... Hot Sauce... The Heat!!!

Anygay, I was guarding well, deflecting a handful of snake attempts while maintaining control of the bag. Although he managed to make me drop while faking a few steals, hehe. On the other hand I was snaking frequently, being in his square almost as often as he was! There were quite a few outstanding plays on both sides but this is my blog so...

I really enjoy playing squares when there are very few calls. Give a few, take a few. I hate it when shitty calls are used as a main weapon, that's just plain pathetic.

I'm really liking my chances at winning 4-square at NYJ. If I'm playing like this at the end of the year I don't see very many people being able to stop me.

Got grazed by a car pulling out of an alley while I was biking the wrong way down the street on the way to work today. One of these days, my recklessness is going to be the death of me.

Got a big scratch on my baby

I'll be printing my bodybag art as shirts and a few hoodies for NYJ. This is not the official shirt for the event, just my own little project. I'll be donating a few as prizes. It's not likely I'll be selling any online anytime soon, so if you want a shirt or hoodie you'll just have to come to NYJ. It willl most likely going to be white ink on black fabric. I'll have to redo the art to make it print ready. Might look a little flat. I'll see.

I'm taking a survey of player's shirt sizes. I'm asking that anyone who is attending NYJ (or is already confirmed to attend) to please PM Colinwith your shirt and hoodie size preference. He will add it to your name along with arrival info.

Please use the format below. If you're not interested in a type of garment, leave it blank.
(shirt size/hoodie size)

Examples:
Henry Griese (XXXXL/XXXXL)
Zeke (L/XL)
Dank (L/) it's too friggin' hot in Miami!

This is NOT a pre-order, just a survey at this point.
I may do a pre-order if I can get a quote from the printer soon.

Also, I'll be reprinting these:

Can't sleep. Again. It seems to only happen when I have to work 1st shift the next day.

Pretty cool session yesterday. Shred, Net and Squares. Even got some Takraw in. It was nice to see some mingling going on. It actually makes me really happy. Tommy was in a circle of shredders when Mike Hansen, Reile and I showed up. Tom and Mike tried some Takraw with Carrie, Reile, Freddy and myself. Scot was talking about possibly getting in some squares and kicking some ass. Didn't follow through with it though since he and Cory had to leave early, as always. I think Reile, Tom and Jake played a little bit of everything today, that's cool. I would like to see the separate groups hang out with each other more and get a sense of being one big cohesive footbag scene. How awesome would that be?

I was pretty focused on net this session and I think I had fun despite my inconsistency. I had quite a few spikes playing both singles and doubles. Oddly enough when I practiced against the wall, my scuffs were more consistent then my sweeps. It's quite the opposite during games. I all but missed every scuff I tried and on the few occasions that I did manage to connect I either sent it into the net or blasted it way out of bounds. On the other hand, my sweeps were very effective. Hot a monster scissor sweep playing against Jake that some of the shredders behind me happen to see.

In general I still have this tendency to be hesitant around the net. There is still a lot of awkwardness while I'm in the air too, like my legs and the rest of my body are trying to do 2 different things at the same time. I'm getting a little more reliable with my sets but there is a lot more work to be done for me to get to a more competent level of play. I need to drop weight and work on my explosiveness and flexagility. I want/need to drill more.

I finally had a chance to snap some good spike pics with Scot and Cory at the session but my batteries died. The few shots I did take didn't turn out as well as I would have liked. <sigh> Wednesday, Wednesday. Wednesday...

After Net, I walked over to the 4S court where everyone was chillaxin and asked if anyone wanted to challenge me at 2S. I was met with dead silence.
Fine, I'll take the as a compliment
