There are some nice spots to kick at near there (near but not on the UIC campus), and there is a really nice (though slightly secluded) park 1 block from the spot.
There was a circus @ the park. Random, but fun. I respect the abilities of the performers very much. They were doing crazy things. 8 people making pyramids and flipping around. One guy was doing a head stand on another guy's head! No hands. A girl was flipping around this ring hanging from high in the air - no safety.
The only thing I didn't like was they weren't respected more. They put so much time into this. They were probably gymnasts since they were little kids. They have all this skill that no one else can do. And in the end, they're dancing to stupid music and worst of all wearing clown makeup. Maybe they are highly respected by kids, and maybe they love doing that work. Maybe it's just me. I mean I don't expect them to have VIP treatment and everything and be invited to the white house. i just think it would be cool to not have the stupid music and clown make up. That's probably just me not having been to a circus when i was little though.
Freestyled with nathan. he gave me idea and i hit 2 new moves both sides. Pixie same symp mirage and pixie same dlo (maybe first time with shoes).
4 square was cool. Cuba saves more than I mentally gave him credit for. I was getting marty and nate with straight shots to the left side and behind. Also had some good (not obvious) self screens. Where you can't see it till last minute. and low.
I was thinking I'm going to learn gyro barrage! i always loved that move. No one ever does it. And i can spin now.
Who wants to kick in Chinatown this week? I wanna bring a camera, and we can look at the shops and shit too and eat some chinese food. And meinard can translate everything for us.
Oh sorry i forgot to call u back reile. I am free saturday.
oh and also, i was thinking today about these 2 sayings:
1. it's better to have love and lost, than to never have loved at all.
2. Owner of a lonely heart, much better than an owner of a broken heart.
Kicked at Portage today to a great session. Josh forgot to come I guess. Day b4 plans with no day of confirmation doesn't seem to work many times.
Hit gyro leg>toe torque 5x BS, Zach. Tried the pdx whirl on first try and nearly got it.
So had a great session. Mostly looong strings of ducks and spins and some pixie and ripwalks and blurs. My ducks and spins are so money now. they were nonexistent for years and years until just now. later I threw in smoe stomics and single leg double dexes.
At the end, this super cutie eastern european girl, who was watching whilst waiting for her tennis partner, came up to me and said "You're really awesome."
Holler! then her old man tennis partner came.
I played for like 2.5 or 3 hours! After looong strings I'd get so winded like just sprinted a long distance. handstands here and there. i am much more balanced when I'm footbag-warmed. Much much more, almost arms like legs.
At the end I hit spinning diving clipper i think. not sure if it's ducking or diving. The duck does not go in the same direction of the spin. also spinning ducking clipper.
I will be in Chicago this weekend. I'm not sure the exact times yet though. There is a talk at the AMS sectional meeting Saturday morning that I want to go to. Could I crash somewhere on Friday night and then kick Saturday afternoon?
YEAH! Mike Hansen! It's supposed to be 85 and sunny all weekend . There's plenty o' crash space at La Raza if you like, when are you getting in on Friday?
