People used to do these, but it's never been a really popular thing in modern freestyle.

I figured that. Nobody really does them in skating, and if they do, it's a what the hell kind of thing. Their pretty cool though if you do them.

I had som ideas for variations and such.

1. Kick the bag through the hole you've made with your arm and leg. (Possible a flying kick with the other leg.) Then maybe thread the needle.

2. The opposite, kick the bag and make it land through the whole. Nothing but net.

Matt, I liked your version. Do you think that it would be possible to thread the needle and be able to catch it in the time you have from kicking the bag. ie. kick>thread the needle (while bag is flying)>stall.

I'm a very beginner novice, so I don't expect to be doing these anytime soon, but I thought it was a good idea.

Also, is the term "Thread the Needle" known outside of skating or also in footbag? I thought it might be more of a skating term but I didn't know.

Wow. Impressive move. I certainly haven't hit it, I was stoked enough hitting the non pixie version.

Do people still name moves? It seems like the vast majority of inventions these days don't get named, I assumed that footbag had finally grown up a little.

On the topic at hand; what variants of symp mobius have been hit? I know that inspinning and ducking have both been hit. What about double spinning? And what about with dexes at the start. Fairy symp mobius was hit a few years ago, so what about atomic or nuclear? And what about pixie and stepping? I think some of those have been hit, but I'm not 100% sure.

miraging symp miraging muted butterfly (or you could call it miraging symp tripwalk, or merlin-ing butterfly, or whatever you want)

my question isn't if this as been hit, because I'm sure someone has hit it as a floating butterfly, but anyone hit this move as a downtime component?

Actually, floating is symp miraging miraging (it's a pretty bitchy set). You are talking about miraging symp miraging, so they are different. Very cool.

You're essentially talking about a downtime symp toe blur "bailed" to a butterfly.

I would suspect that it has been hit since 4 years ago (or longer), Kenny Shults was hitting spinning pdx symp toe blur "bail" osis and "bail" refraction. I know that other people have also hit that move (big apple sauce or whatever it's called). That said, I've never heard of anybody hitting a butterfly at the end, so maybe it's new? The top candidates I can think of don't post on modified, so I'm not sure if you'll get an accurate answer, but props anyway

Tripwalk swirl has been hit - Ales hits it in an old school czech video from 2002 I think. Vasek may hit it in one of those vids as well.

I would guess that Sunil hit it way before then. Sunil also hits janiwalker swirl bsos in the Shred With Sunil video from pre worlds 2002.

Not so sure about alpha tripwalk swirl, but I'd be a little surprised if it hadn't been hit.

If it's not in the video it must have been hit off camera. Ales Zelinka verified it though, and he probably knows what he's talking about. Are you sure it's not there? The quality of that vid is pretty low, is it possible you just didn't see it?

Ales hits tripwalk swirl on the "big tricks session" episode of Telocvina. It's on YouTube somewhere.

As for Janiwalker Swirl, that's been hit since at least 2002. I'm pretty sure it's NOT on the "shred with sunil" video, but he DID hit it both sides at that session. When he came to Japan in 03 we talked about it, and he wondered why they didn't put it on the video, because he was pretty sure they filmed them both.

As for alpha tripwalk swirl, I'm not sure. I may have hit this in early 2005 (I hit fs quark and fs toe fog around this time) but I would need to check my paper journal to be sure (and that's not possible until December).

Regardless, big props to Rafal, as all of these tricks are very styly and hard.
