Haven't been logging much of anything new so I did not bother keeping this updated.

I have been playing for at least 45 mins a day for the last week and a half, and was playing every other day before then for about 1-1.5 hrs.

Drilling all the basics:
10Xlo>lo
10Xpu>pu
10Xatw in&out left and right
10Xillusion
10Xmirage
20Xinsides
10 ss clip left and right
10 ss butter left and right
10Xinfinity
10Xosis>osis

Drilling butter>ss osis>mirage>rpt, aiming for 10 contacts
10Xlo>illusion>rpt
10Xpu>mirage
15Xclip>ssmirage
15Xbutter>ssmirage
10Xclip>ssosis>rpt
10Xclip>step>toe>rpt

Today I played for 1.75 hrs in the gym b/c it is snowing.
Hit all the basic moves and these drills:
15X butter>osis>ssmirage>rpt
drifterX5
DATW strong in X 5
No swirls or whirls, but I finally hit a flip whirl yesterday and footed quite a few
15Xclip>ssosis
20Xbutter>ssmirage flip
20Xclip>ssmirage flip
ANd hit abunch of new stepping moves, strong only

step>opp lo
step>opp pu
step>opp clip
step>opp mirage
step>opp illusion
step>opp osis

Haven't tried to plan a shred 30 yet, but have my sick 3 ready, almost hit it today. Sick1, not to sure yet, have one in mind, just have never come that close to hitting it yet, and it is pretty rad, I haven't seen anyone really attempt it, but is is pretty basic.

Lots of fun today, I hope every session goes this well.

No stitching as of late, although I already have about 7 bags cut out for Hackrifice, just need to get them stitched.

Can't wait!

Oh yeah, I also ordered 2 pairs of Spenco low profiles from Freedom. My shins do not hurt when I play or after, but if I bump them even the slightest on anything, it hurts like hell. Even if I rub the area softly, it kills.

Good night modified, will have a bag done tonight, a mini.

Played for 1.5 hrs last night.

I am getting frustrated with my onesidedness. I think my next session will be all flip, but it gets frustrating. Hit a few steps flip, very weak, and needs alot work. Footed a few whirls, landed one.

Also played around with pixie and fairy. Getting there. Not close enough to do anything other than opp toe though. Bu I did get pixie>ssosis (strong). Does this have a name?

Hit one new move. Osis>ss illusion. Felt fucken awesome. Anyone know the name of this?

Need to dexercise. I will dexercise datws in, out, l&r, swirls and rev swirls. Also, next session will have like 2 million flip clippers and butters. These are not the problem, it is stepping or whirling. It feels so retarded. I concentrate on leaning over the bag on my left side, but after a few contacts, I tend to start leaning back.

Drilled all the basics. Nothing new. Really need to work on ducking after I get my flip stepping, whirls, swirls, drifters.

I can't wait for hackrifice, but I really need to drill. I am getting tired too easily and it seems my strings are getting shorter.

Made up a checklist of all my drills that I will do each session from now on, and will add to it as I learn new moves and stuff.

Have had a blue and pink bag half done for three days now. I really need to get that finished.

Hey Andrew
Pixie same osis is just pixie same osis :p
And osis > illusion is just a "bubba" (clipper-set illusion), but set from osis instead of just a clipper (it doesn't change what the move is, because osis ends in clipper).

I've been playing every day too, just doing really basic stuff, but it's still super fun, and it's helping my bothsidedness on basic tricks too (mostly osis, 'cause that's one of my biggest weaknesses).

I'm not sure what advice to give on those flipside moves, but maybe in person will be easier. It's way easier to have someone point out to you what you're doing differently from one side to the other. It's hard for me to remember all of the tips that Andrew gives me on stuff, but it helps much more than the theories that I have to figure out myself.

About pixie same osis isn't it Maverick? I think so, not sure thought anyway it's just a name.

I hope the few tips I gave you helped Andrew, and btw, osis to ss illusion is a damn styley combo, gotta try it don't think I ever tried it  .

Thanks for the comments Erik and Mathieu.

It is Monday and I can't wait for Friday! I leave so soon! I did not pick up a needle the entire weekend, which kind of sucked, but I had a good weekend.

I only played on Friday for an hour and 15 mins. I just did all the basics and then started going for drills like clip>ssosis>rpt.

Nothing worth mentioning except I hit blender about 6 times! Out of nowhere too, but I am not to sure how clean they were. I was about to do some whirls, then I thought that I should try blender. First try, barely missed the bag, second try, NAILED IT!!! Fuck yeah.

No real development on my flip side and I really think that I need to take three or four session of drilling like I can't do moves on my strong side.

Will finish off another two bags before Friday, which will bring my total up to 6 bags. 1 for the tourney, one for Erik, Manna, Bryin and two more for kicks.

I have not been able to find any caribou! I really hope I find some before I leave, if not, I will only be able to bring some fish.

I still have not hit my sick1, sick3 or planned a shred30 or informal routine! I know I will do the shred 30 for fun and the sick tricks, but I am not too sure about the routine.

Later all!

See everyone in Winnipeg on Friday!

2 hr session today.

Played ok, hit a few new things and played around with pixie, fairy and stepping. Pixie and fairy are there now, just no move afterwards yet. But so close. Stepping was very onesided, but there was about 10mins where I hit like 10 flip steps, then a few mins later, it was gone..... But when it was working it felt fucken cool. THing is that I was completely sideways and it was super easy and felt natural, except for the orientation of my stance.

New stuff:
pixie>opp legover
pixie>opp butter
super close like 20 times to pixie>same lo and pixie same pu
fairy>sswhirl super close, fairy sspu footed numerous times
step>sspu
step>sslo
close to step>ssmirage

Thats about it. I think my initial blenders on friday were on, but todays were like a retarded, spazzy osis.

Can't think of much else, but I had a blast, blur is getting easy, ripwalk too.

Later all! Will try to finish off another bag tonight.

Wow, it’s been a while.

First and foremost I would like to extend a giant thank you to Andrew, Tanya and Erik for driving me around, lending me clothes, dinner, a place to stay and for the new friendships!

I had a great time at Hackrifice! One of the best times of my life! Imagine, travel half way across the second largest country in the world to meet and stay with some people you only know online! HAHA! Sounds like the beginning of a CSI show.

Well, I arrived in Winnipeg via Iqaluit, Kuujuuaq and Montreal at like 10:30 local time, which was 11:30 pm my time. I left home at 3pm, long day. I landed and was looking around and saw all these people with signs, so I thought that I might see one with Eskimo Joe or Andrew Dunford on it, but I didn’t see one or Erik. He was not able to make it out to the airport, so Andrew and his girlfriend Tanya went to get me. They were actually holding up a Hackrifice T-shirt from 2004, but I didn’t even notice!

I went to the carousel to get my bag and was going to call Erik’s cell. My bag didn’t arrive. I was waiting for like 15 mins and then a girl came up to me and asked if I was Andrew. It was Andrew’s girlfriend. I was pretty happy to meet them. They are so fucken cool, you do not even know.

I am still amazed that they were kind enough to come and get me! They said it was nothing, but it was definitely something to me. I was still waiting for my bag with my bags, quantums and clothes, but it was left in Montreal with a lot of other people’s stuff. So Andrew said that we could go to his house to get me some shorts and a T shirt! He said that I should not worry about it and concentrate on the competition. So fucken nice!

We went to the uni and shredded until like 2:04 am! I suck, but everyone there was killer. It was awesome meeting Byrin, Erik, Kevin, Rory and Manna. They are all soooooo good! Then we went to Erik’s house to sleep, but I stayed up to finish off a bag for Manna.

The next day Erik fed everyone and then we were off to the event site, but I needed cash and coffee, so Erik was even more kind and brought me! It never stopped, the nice-ness all around.

At the tourney, I met Joel, Scott, Derek, Jessica, Erik’s friend, I forget her name and feel really bad b/c she was really nice. I also met the MC Will, funny guy, he read to us aloud that night….. Good times. I did so bad! My shred 30 was terrible! I was so nervous to compete for the first time, and I ended up being first for all of the events! My sick 1 was ripwalk, which I hit on my second last try, my sick 3 attempt was butter>osis>ripwalk. Came really close but did not get it. Everyone else did well.

I had a blast.

I know there is more people that I met but it is like 1am and I am drinking a beer here at the Lake Louise Chateau. It is beautiful. Lots of Japanese people.

It was so great to meet everyone! I would get into it, but so much happened in like 1.5 days. But will tell you this, I got a nice hug from Kevin when Andrew was about to take me to the airport.

Erik’s dad was really really nice too and is a great artist. He offered us supper, offered to do laundry and really engaged everyone. I read an article that was laying around. Mr. Chan is a principal and does a stunt each year, but this year he vowed to eat worms if the school read x number if books, which they did, so he got dressed up in a tux and had a gourmet plate of worms for all the kids! You could tell that he really cares about the kids in his school.

So back to shred. Manna hit phoenix like 2nd try! My god! Everyone else was amazing, too amazing, it made me feel bad about my game for a few hours. I ended up learning how to do pixies and fairies properly, but am, only able to get fairy clean. I footed fairy>sspickup, landed a sketchy pixie > op lo, and get this: I got eggbeater! 2nd or 3rd try! Manna so and was afraid to high five me cause I was so pumped! Then I got dlo after a few more tries.

I need to go to bed. I just want to thank every one I met for everything they did for me and for being awesome people.

Good night modified!

Here is the one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life:

Image

THe crew! I made them let me take this!
Image

I am in Lake Louise and had a shred session in teh weight room. Even though I suck, the Grand Chief of teh Yukon was really impressed! I will post pics of this beautiful place when I get home or after I get organized.

Thanks for the write-up. That was fun to read!
It was super nice to meet you too, Andrew. I'm glad you got some lessons from Kevin. I didn't shred with you too much. I missed out on a lot of shred on Saturday because of that game I was recording for Byrin and Derek, and I was teaching my friend (Nelly) for a while, and then everyone was done playing :p I don't think I played with Derek once all weekend, either :?

I'm glad I got at least one picture of you, though. I had no idea what you looked like until I got you on Facebook.

Thanks for the trade, too. How's the bumblebee bag holding up? :p I completely forgot until I just wrote now, 'cause the camo bag is still in my bag, but I'm gonna go dig it out now -- it's so pretty!!

I have only had about 3 sessions since I got back from Lake Louise and Winnipeg.

I wish I had more time to shred but it seems life keeps throwing things my way.

SO had a nice 1.25 hr session last night.

Hit flip ripwalk! My strings length is completely gone though. I also hit osis>spin>ss osis three times in a row on each side! That felt fucken cool. I was also super close like 10 times to osis>duck>spin osis on both sides! Also hit was flip whirl quite a few times, but towards the end of my session, these kind of disappeared.

I was also super close to butter>step>ss whirl! ARGGGHHH!!

Lots of stepping on my flip but only butter achieved.

I plan on having at least two sessions a week from now on and will try for every day until I get my sick 1 and sick 3 on vid for the online comps.

I also got quite the beautifil surprise in the mail yesterday! I got my Waylon Lew bag!!! I can't wait until I use this sucker. It is like my ten bar bag design except toally different too!

I will post apic of it in the new footbags section later today if I can use the work camera.

Will be starting on two bags today, one for Erik Savage and one for Manna. The bag I made him popped a stitch......

First bag of mine ever to do that. What a shitty feeling.

Oh well, I guarentee my bags for at least 3 months as long as they are not totally trashed from scuffing or the like.

It's good to be writing in here again.

Oh yeah, I also hit strong DATW quite a few times, super close to eggbeater again, drifter and close to a swirl on my flip.

Hey Andrew.
I gave this challenge to somebody else (Jay Boychuk?), but I think it would be super productive for you too:
a run of 20 tiltless, at least 5 times in one session.
I don't think I even played with you too much at Hackrifice (I didn't play with lots of people much actually... I didn't play with Derek once!), so I forget what your average length is, but based on your highlights, I think this would be super beneficial! Do it!!! :D

Had a 1.5 hr session last night.

I am struggling to stay motivated lately at anything. It feels like I need to start from scratch all over again.

But I tried what you said there Erik and hit about 4 or 5 strings of 20+ titless.

Really just drilled the basics:

20Xlo>lo
20Xpu>pu
20 contacts of pu>mirage
12 contacts of lo>illusion (really thinking about my hips and dexing at upper calf as Kevin pointed out to me, and it makes me smile when I get them clean)
20 ss clip strong, 15 weak
12 contacts of infinity
tried a bunch of ss mirages so that I could get pixies down, and really tried to slow it down. Did a few fairies to hand catch bs.

The good thing about this session was that it was like my old intense sessions where I would almost get muscle cramps after, so I know I got a work out.

I worked my flip stepping and that is surprisingly getting better, same with flip whirls, but near the end of the session, these dissapear.

I really need to start drilling in order again.

I used to do toe, inside, outside, atw in, atw out, lo, pu, mirage, illusion, clip, butter, osis, pdx mirage, symp lo.

Oh well. I am not to sure if I will enter the online comps b/c it feels like I got nothing to show. But I thought of a few moves that I am getting close to liekt eh spinning ducking osis or spinning ducking butter from osis.

I tried to spin out of toe and clipper and feels so wrong. It is much easier from osis. Any tips on spinning would be greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah, and I used my new Waylon bag. It kicks ass and is so nice and round, nice amount of fill and sets really true.

Will start stitching again soon, maybe today.

Had a nice 1.5 hr session with my buddy Scottie.

I was nice going non-solo! However, he was quite rusty b/c he hasn't played in forever. But we drilled all of our tiltless and then he had a jog.

I came so close to quite a fwe moves that are making me excited and hit a very clean pixie>op lo, like a weird dlo.

I was super close to stepping ssdrifter, eggbeater, fairy pu, and almost bsos'd ripwalk! It went strong rip>opp osis>far butter>rip. Footed the rip but dropped, barely! I was also super close to footing butter swirl like 10 times both feet! ARGGH!!!

Got a few clean flip rips too.

I did not have a camera so no video entry, however, I noticed that teh deadline has been extended to today, so I assume tha tthat means midnight, so I will see if I can get out again and do something.

Also footed like 10 spinning ducking osii. Going to try spinning ducking whirl soon.

Lots of fun, not enough time. I wish I could shred every day.

Later all.

Had another non-solo session last night. 1hr.

Nothing really new except I hit fairy pickup. felt cool. Worked on pixie>pixie, stepping, fairy.

Got 8 contacts of butter>pdx mirage, a couple 20+ strings. Nothing ground breaking.

Need to work on illusions, opp clip, stepping, pixie, fairy.

Will drill the old ones again next time, ie: butter>osis>rpt.

Man I wish I could spend 2 hrs a day everyday shredding, and 4 hrs a day stitching.

I should quit my management position and go on social assistance so that I could play footbag all day and stitch all night.

Yeah right. I just need a vacation soon.

Later!

I have had 3 sessions all about 2 hrs long, 3 days in a row. Fuck it feels good to get the rust off.

The first session sucked! 2 hrs of struggling to do the basics and string them.

Then next day was better and finally found that hop and hip swivel that helps with flip stepping! Whoo! Also got quite a few pixies (bs) and fairies (bs).

Last nights session was good.

55 toe >toe
51 inside >inside
25 lo>lo
30 pu>pu
27 ssmirage strong, 22 flip
10 illusion bs (multiple tries, but only got up to 7 in a row like 3 times each foot, then just started over and counted where I left off) (NEED TO DRILL THE SHIT OUT OF THESE)
20 contacts of butter>ssclip>opp butter>ssclip>rpt, about 5 runs of these were up to like 15, 14, 16 etc)
16 infinities
15 clip>oppclip
20 contacts of clip>ssosis>oppclip>ssosis>rpt
20 contacts of lo>mirage
20 contacts opf pu>mirage
10 atw in each direction, with each foot
8 contacts of butter>pdxmirage>rpt
10 osis>opp osis
No whirls, drifters, DATWs attempted, although I did about 10 strong swirls.
Pixies were on! Pixie>opp butter (strong only), pixie opp mirage (strong only), pixie lo (bs)
FairiesX10 bs, only got one strong fairy>sspickup.
Schooled stepping to had catch for like 15 mis each side and almost bsos'd ripwalk! But I found a fun drill to help improve stepping: butter>step>ssbutter as many times as you can, then switch to the other side.

Then I fucked around and had about 6-8 strings of 15-30 contacts of titless and the BOP's.

Have finally picked up the needle again too. Thinking about ordereing some tungsten, but ballistics will not ship to Canada, and the Canadian distributor of their product is still charging 1.4 on top of the catalogue price, to accomodate for the currency exchange! Bullshit! Our dollar is worth more so it should be cheaper! Ahhhh well.

If any trusty Americans would be willing to accept an order of size 7.5 tungsten for me, and then ship it to me, of course I would pay the shipping, I would be more than happy to give them a free Eskimo Bag, it would be one of the last lead filled Eskimo Bags and I would make any pattern and colour (that I have) you want.

Oh yeah, today the wind is gusting up to 71km/h with a lovely windchill of -35C, or a meager -19C without the wind. Our first truly cold day up here, but it only gets colder from here on out. Late December through late February ave temp is around -30C to about -35C without windchill.

Later Modified.

Another 2hrs spent kicking abean bag around and sweating like a dirty pig. Ahhhh, the bliss of it.

I spent the majority of my time doing laps around the gym doing alternating faiy sets to opp hand catch. Wow, I actually made progress and have a fairy set that is alot quicker than when Kevin Regimy saw in Winnipeg. It is fluid now and the set comes up to about my armpit.

Pixies on the other hand, or foot rather, are still a work in prgress with my flip. I am at teh point now with my strong pxies and both fairies, that the harder I try to set, the faster my footscomes over teh bag and the set WORKS! HAHAHAHAHA!!! I hit strong side, pixie opp lo, pixie opp pu, pixie opp butter, pixie opp mirage, will try illusion once I clean those up further.

Stepping, is on its way. I found that my strong side are now weaker that my flip side b/c I was slurring the set alot. But on my flip, I really focus on support leg placement, bag release and popping my hip up and out over the bag. feels really good. Almost strung two ripwals in again.. Soon enough. But I haven't tried anything out of flip step other than opp butter yet......

Strong steps, or weak steps now, I have hit opp illusion, opp osis, opp lo, opp pu, opp butter, opp clip, sspu, ss lo, ssmirage, ssbutter, ss osis. I need to be able to do all this again but with proper form and also be able to do it flip. I noticed when I focus on my hip the bag tends to come up truer and higher. A nice little drill I have been doing on my strong side is: butter>ss step butter>ss butter>ss step butter>rpt. However, I have only gotten up to 5 contacts with this, but is sounds pretty cool and feel even better.

I have also been schooling toe set opp whirl to figure this out so that it can lead me into a blurry whirl or even alternating whirls. I have been focusing on getting my thigh up first then dexing. But it gets frustrating.

I also did all the basic repeats and stuff. I am really digging: butter>ss clip>opp butter>ss clip>rpt. Also clip>ssosis>ss clip>rpt kicks ass. Super simple stuff that helps me relax and get the timing and placement down.

I have purposely been avoinding drilling illusions. I don't want to. but I must, my strong side is good, but my flip needs some work.

This is one long post.

Later and thank you to those who actually read my minimal progress.

Eskimo Joe. I club seals. Oooh baby I like it RAW!

On a side note, a long time ago, my cousin in Hamilton was trying to come up with a racial slur about Inuit and came up with a few funny notables: Spear Chucker (my favorite) and a snow chink. That was a funny one too. Sorry if this offended anyone, but I can't always control my savage brain and I do not know why I typed this.

23 days simce my last post.......

I have only had about 3 sessions since then, and today's was only 1.25 hrs long. But I seem to be progressing even though I have barly drilled or played, just thinking about it.

Today I hit some new strong side stuff:
-fairy>opp butter
-fairy>opp pickup
-fairy same clip

Stuff I hit:
-pixie>opp butter
-pixie>opp lo (mid string too)
-pixie>opp mirage
-fairy>opp lo
-ripwalk bs
-stepping>opp lo
-stepping>opp pu

Super close, or seems to me at least:
-fairy same whirl
-fairy same lo
-pixie same mirage

I also did a bunch of pixie > opp toe>rpt, fairy>opp toe>rpt, stepping on both sides, although not in the same string. I had a flip rip to strong rip footed. Would have been my first rip>rip.

And I FINALLY hit the sick 3 I have been thinking about non-stop:
butter>osis>ripwalk!

FUCK YEAH!

I know I did a bunch of other stuff and had quite a few strings between 15-30 contacts. Lots of bops, lo's, pu's. Not very many mirage or illusions.

i am going to start a training program soon and actually bring a checklist to hit each session as warm up.

Well, I feel good about today ssession and hope to have another one soon. I rarely get a chance to shred or stitch these days and I really want to meet my personal goals.

Stitching tonight and tomorrow.
