The best way for me to give advice here is to say:
A) lift your knee while the bag is starting to peak
B) move fast
C) try to do the legover with the second dex (i.e. almost at the same time) 9/10 times the barrage is clean (for me at least) but the legover is low and will sometimes be 'the'
Make sure you drill the flurries while keeping this mind: People do this move differently, if all downtime works, then do it that way. If you can start your flurry before the bag fully peaks, then do it that way. Work with your style, not against it.
I can't hit this move, but I would assume the key is to attack the first dex as early as possible. Like with all pdx moves, set the bag and hop across straight away while lifting that leg so that you can get the first dex right at peak time. If you have a strong and consistent flurry, I imagine this wouldn't be much harder than toe set flurry.
I'm sure I could hit it if I put some effort into it, but moves like that are a long way from being a priority for me at the moment. I'd much rather work on getting consistent basics than hard tricks.
I say "I can't hit this move" but a more accurate statement would be that I've never tried (actually I did have 2 attempts at this move at my session with JP and Urano on Friday, and I probably could hit this move).
However I can hit other moves that are similar, I've been freestyle footbagging for over 6 years now, and I've learnt a bit about how to play the game. If I were going to try and learn pdx flurry those tips are what I'd try to do.
I've also spent a significant part of my time playing footbag playing with Lynton Stephens, who could hit toe flurry with relative ease. I've seen how he does it, I know how I hit similar moves, I'm confident that the approach I outlined would be the best way to go.
These days if I try to hit a new move, I always figure out what I should be doing before trying to do it, and usually i'm right about what I should do and I hit the new move without much trouble at all. For example my newest move is marius; and although I'd never hit it, I worked out what height I should be setting, what my footwork should be, how I should be approaching the torque and what each leg should be doing independently for the move. The tips I would have given before I hit the move were the same as what I'd give now.
Given that I can hit moves like blurrage mid string, given that I can hit flurry bsos and given that I have hit toe flurry, I'm confident that my tips for pdx flurry are accurate. Maybe somebody who can hit the move could give some more specific tips, if things like hip positions vary much from toe flurry, or moves that they have in mind when they hit pdx flurry (like for marius I try to think spyro osis and throw a mirage in because getting that osis foot back off the ground early is a key with this move for me).
Getting tips from somebody who thinks about how they would hit the move, can hit similar moves, and has fairly high level of skills is surely better than not getting any tips at all, especially when they're completely open about their abilities with the move in question.
I wonder if Ken was being wry there or not...I think you guys secretly admire each other or somethin lol. Style-wise I mean. Good explanation though J, I use the 'toe then pdx' methodology a lot. Except I can't hit Sailing Batman
