Back to basics, a return to my 3rd love, footbag.

Post by The Randallizer »

I have my new full size (88 key) keyboard hooked up through FL Studio and it kicks ass. Especially with all the VSTi's I've been downloading lately. Music is awesome. My weekly jam sesh with some friends and their respective instruments (drums, guitar, guitar, bass) proves to be the most fun possible in life.

I haven't played footbag in a while. I always think about it, but just never actually do. It's quite annoying. I want to hit up SJFF, but for now I have no where to stay. Man, I wish I had some kids to train or something. :D

Today: Lots of guitar hero II!, pizza

Tomorrow: Halo 3!, jam sesh

Yeah that did suck. I'm still just watching youtube gameplay videos.

I only have the final set -miserlou on guitar hero 2 to beat on expert. For some reason the past couple days my fingers have been way off. I think I burnt myself out.

I learned measure 50-80 of Chopin Rainbow Prelude (No. 15 in Db) aka the theme song from the sweet ass halo 3 commerical. I learned it in like a couple hours. It's such a sweet song! It gives me goosebumps every time I play/hear it.

One of my jam friends can do atws and pixies. It's pretty sweet. I played the other day outside of one of his shows while smoking. I'm SOOO off from footbag  I had trouble doing more than 5 butters. It was all good though. I wasn't trying to impress anyone, but somehow managed to get a little crowd going.

I've been playing Final Fantasy 9 for the first time and it's AMAZING! One of the characters reminds me of Erik Chan (Vivi, the black mage) I'm on disc 2 already after like 3 seshs. I'm playing on a psx emulator and iso and it actually works out fairly well. I'm stoked to play it everyday.

Agreed. I got this one called Absynth 4. It has really sweet sounds, although I'll admit I haven't explored that much into it. I haven't been in the studio (FL) in a while. I need to make another basic techno song ...

Yo sausage, what's beatport?

So life is lame sometimes. Right now, it's 7am and I'm up even though I went to bed at 5 or so. I had to take a Top 2 of the worst shits of my life. Like, ouch-ness. Now I can't go back to sleep and I will probably play FF9 for 12+ hours. My ass REALLY hurts.

I CANNOT BEAT HANGER 18!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday, Comcast shut off our phone/internet/cable. Turns out the bill was in an old roommates name that moved out and he didn't pay it for months and didn't tell us about the bill ($450+). That was a nice surprise considering I NEED the phone to live right now. He kind of fucked us over though because we can't get service restored for more than a week now when we get it changed over into our names. Go us.

What's even weirder? Somehow, we all left the house and returned soon to find out that everything works!?!? Like, what the fuck. Not that I'm complaining, but I will say it's the first time I've seen a corporation just give away their services to "someone" who hasn't paid their bill in months AFTER ALREADY DISCONNECTING IT! Are they just fucking with us? I'm not sure about it at all.

I need to give you your money Kevin. I need to at least make payments or something because it's eating my conscience. I can't afford to give the full payment, I mean I CAN, but I can't at the same time. Maybe half now, half later. After I get my ID and shit (since my wallet disappeared!) back and close my bank account and blah the fucking blah blah blah, I can get that wire transfer worked out or whatever. Thanks for being patient man.

I fucking love my keyboard. I fucking love classical composers. I jammed last night with the crew and it was so fucking fuck. I was fucking stroked until 4 fucking am. Bouncing off the walls fuck.

Man, I wrote way too much too fast.

Today: Shower, get new ID, hopefully make some money

Life is way better than it was in my last posts. My roommates and I are in a new place where the neighbors blast LOUD bass at random times of the day/night. It's all good though. I've finally started playing again because of my friend Cory getting into it. Slowly but surely. I hit whirlwind the other day and was pretty stroked.

Cory has learned both atws both ways, mirage, legover bs and has hit clippers on occasion, just in the past week or so. He also uses his insides a lot on stuff which is one of my favorite concepts. He was like me, played hack for like years before trying freestyle. He is a good student as he takes criticism and actually applies it on the spot. Quick learner. He is a pretty good drummer as well, so he understands the idea of progression and the importance of timing and style. I hope someday he becomes better than me. That would be most satisfying.

Guitar Hero III = carpal tunnel overnight

Alex Zerbe emailed me and said he wanted to shred this weekend. I'm stroked to play with Alex. He is a super cool guy. Hopefully that all goes down. Capaice.

Played with Alex Zerbe downtown today. He hadn't played in a while, so he was a little rusty. I played like my usual garbage self, but I still had tons of fun. Cory learned (and I don't think he has ever dropped since) flying toes. I was stroked for him because he does it with super good form. He had fun as well. We might get a shred in tomorrow, who knows.

Tomorrow is Cory's show (Cyrus Fell Down is his band, they are fucking amazing) and I'm filming with like, 3 cameras. I'm excited to get to edit again for the first time in almost a year!? Fuck, it's been a while.

ps whirls are easy again.
missed my barfly every time?
I can record my keyboard into FL Studio!

EDIT: I think I'm ready to start playing footbag again like I used to. To progress and push myself. After almost a year of a footbag slump/depression, shit, and all it took was a willing and able student. I'm FUCKING stroked! :D

I hope the student was well compensated for stroking you.

Well, I teach him footbag and he repays me with some jubjub while we watch Becker together. It's magical.

Fuck yeah Andrew, I was studying videos of your stepping last night. Super solid shit. Hopefully I can polish my shuffle up in the next month or two. Fucking sweet drill with pixie whirl>bedwetter>rpt btw. Props.

I just got back from filming Cory's show. It was amazing, I'm capturing footy as I speak. A rep from capital records was there and they are "talking" as we speak! I hope they get signed. Capital is a huge record company. I'm stRoked for him.

Wow. I just had a really solid solo sesh. I played for almost and hour and a half. Longest solo sesh in probably 6+ months.

I worked on tons of stuff and hit about everything I tried ... eventually

-butter x3>whirl x3>rpt
-butter>ducking p mirage>rpt (sealed/5)
-ss butterfly>spin osis>rpt (sealed/5)
-whirl>p illusion>whirl>rpt (sealed/5)
-pixie muted clip>p mirage>rpt>dimwalk>whirl>p mirage>rpt (sealed/5)
-run with bs diving, bs ducking, os ducking ss, os diving op clippers

-stepping whirl bs
-tomahawk sealed
-flip smoke first try ever
-barefoot flip phoenix
-flip mobius
-blurry whirl bs
-double down swirl

Blah, blah blah, I hit some more stuff too. It's hard trying to remember what you hit during a sesh.

I think I have made a major breakthrough on my clipper position. Stepping shuffle has been impossible for me for some reason and I think I've got the trick to getting more power with more efficiency while maintaining better form. I've been working a lot on my form/style. No more gangsta leanz.

I wish I could make it to SJFF, although I don't know how that's possible with my current money situation. It's so hard to get ahead of the curve sometimes. Ah well, it's life. And it's looking good. Peace.

Just had a little solo sesh. Definitely making some progress with reforming my clipper position and such. I'm still not doing great, but it's fun.

butter>butter>spin osis>rpt x2
a couple of 25+ contact bop runs
flip zooming osis

Well, I've had two seshs/day for the past 3 days. My left knee is feeling a little whirled. I think I'm going to take it easy until SJFF, which I guess I'm going to attend somehow. I still don't know the details and it's tomorrow.

barefoot after sesh sesh:

eggbeater>legover>rpt (5 contacts)
flail os
learned flip symple legovers! Should help my flip dlos/eggs.
toe>(no plant) rev swirl>op toe - WHAT?! without the butter and muted.
