Trying to figure out what would be the best quality TV. It has to be between 37" and 42", has to be flat panel, and has to be under $2000.
Modified seems to be filled with plenty of knowledgeable people on just about any subject, so I figure I might as well ask around here.
If you have suggestions, please share them. Thanks.

First off, depending on how much sunlight you have in the room and what time of the day you'll be watching the most tv ... you'll have to decide whether you want a plasma or an lcd tv.
If you have a lot of sunlight in your room and you'll be watching tv a lot during the day, then you'll probably want to go with a LCD. The screens on lcd tv's have more of a matte look(or something like that) so the sunlight wont reflect off of the screen, instead the screen will kind of absorb the light.
to simplify ... LCD=very little to no glare at all.
I think the picture quality on Plasma tv's is better. but you can get lots of glare on those tv's because the screen is very glossy.

lcd tvs are generally more expensive then plasma tvs because they are harder to produce.
the smallest plasma size is 37" ... while lcd tv's come in almost all sizes from small to big
plasma tv's can run out of gas and just go out after a while ... but that could be somewhere around 10 years from the date of your purchase.
if you're going to be playing video games .... something to look for in plasmas is some kind of white-washing function. plasmas used to have the problem of burn in .... where if some tv show had a logo on the bottom of the screen during for an hour or two, then an outline of that logo would burn in to the screen and would be there on every chanel you went on. a few companies developed a system where the screen would be white washed every so often, pretty much clearing the screen of anything on there and making it like new ... in my opinion though, i think an lcd tv would be better for video games.
picture quality wise i think plasma tvs have a clearer and sharper image ... but thats not to say that lcd's are bad
I personally prefer lcd tv's ....and would reccomend lcd's from sharp, sony, and samsung (in that order, sharp and sony being close, but i really like the sharp tvs)
in plasmas .... i know pioneer and panasonic make great tv's
also sony and sharp only make LCD's
(another reason to go with those two brands .... because they stick to one type of tv, instead of making some lcds and some plasmas)

if your using it for gaming than make sure the reaction time of the tv is as low/fast as you can get for that price and size. 8 ms for example is a horrible reaction and 2 ms would be great reaction as on a pc monitor.. I was just checking one of those amazon finds above and noticed that they don't list the reaction time.

It's main purpose would be for pure video gaming, as I don't watch much TV at all. And if I do, it's on TiVo, late at night. I only play games with the shades closed, as that's how games are designed to be played. So to say the least, there won't be the problem of sunlight to deal with.
However, I too still prefer LCD screens to the plasma TVs.
I also plan to use my TV as a secondary monitor for my computer.
But yeah, my main concern is that the picture isn't "fuzzy." Ever compare the old TVs to the new flat panels? The flat panels (At least ones you see at Best Buy and Wal-Mart) seem to have a "fuzziness" about them.

That's surprising, because HP monitors kick absolute ass. But I haven't seen anyone with an HP TV yet, and I've yet to see one on display at any store anywhere.
