Ken is spot on, as usual. The healthfulness of a food has little to do with whether or not it makes you fat. Foods high in easily digested starches and sugars (i.e. high glycemic index foods) and trans fats, while correlated with obesity, also contribute to blood sugar/insulin spikes after meals and hypercholesterolemia. In your teens and twenties you are not likely to see signs of diabetes or heart disease but that doesn't mean your food isn't unhealthy or your metabolism is 'taking care of you'.
I personally don't look forward to living into old age but I sure as hell don't plan on being wracked by diabetes-induced gangrene, vascular disease, and coronary bypasses when I get there.
On a side note, I never eat fast foods because I know how to cook and McDonalds smells like diarrhea.

I guess people have kinda beaten me to it, but Fred, you keep using healthy and skinny interchangeably and they don't mean the same thing at all.
I try to eat healthy, like only eating fast food when I'm on trips, and eating stuff throughout the day, very little desserts, (unless they're home made, I can't resist) and eating tons and tons of fruit. In a given day I might eat two bananas, an apple, a large bowl of grapes, and either some pineapple or strawberries depending on what in my house. I'm not big on vegetables, which I know I should be, but I eat tons of carrots and sometimes some lettuce or tomatoes in a sandwich. If I'm trying to eat specifically healthy in a given week or something I might just eat a handful of raw spinach once a day.
I frequently say to myself, "I'm gonna eat very healthy for x amount of days" and I believe I can feel the results.

A quick word about metabolism and eating fast-food all day. I can fully recognize myself in Switch Kicker because when I was his age I too ate fast-food (usually McDonalds) every single day. Quite often multiple times a day. I'd even brag about it: "yeah I eat McDonalds everyday and look at me.. I'm not fat". When I was 24 or so I came to a pretty startling conclusion that I'd been to McDonalds close to 5000 times. That's when I stopped going there.
Anyway back on the topic of metabolism: when you're young your body can take anything, it heals quickly etc. When you get to the 26yr+ you'll notice slight differences.. like fat around the waist for exampleHappens to a lot of people.
In the mean time, Switch if you're 17 or 20 or around that age, eat your heart out (so to speak) it won't make a huge difference. But Jeremy is still correct.

No, I don't. I said eating fast food occasionally is not unhealthy. A lot of the people with heart conditions and clogged arteries have their conditions for many other reasons besides what they eat. Yes, what you eat can effect your health greatly, but so does lack of exercise. Eating fast food occasionally while being moderately physically active, isn't unhealthy. I haven't said anything about fat people. That's a whole other ball game.Pirate Man wrote:I guess people have kinda beaten me to it, but Fred, you keep using healthy and skinny interchangeably and they don't mean the same thing at all.

And the World Health Organisation says that eating fast food occasionally is unhealthy.Switch Kicker wrote:No, I don't. I said eating fast food occasionally is not unhealthy. Who has more credibility, a guy on a footbag forum who thinks that black holes are planets, or the international authority on health issues?

If they want to say that's unhealthy, then everything, including living is unhealthy. The constant beating of your heart causes some major wear and tear that eventually will cause your heart to fail.Jeremy wrote:And the World Health Organisation says that eating fast food occasionally is unhealthy.Switch Kicker wrote:No, I don't. And a black hole is a massive (massive in matter, not surface area) collection of matter that is so dense that it is constantly crunching in on itself making it smaller and smaller (with the more matter that falls into it) and is so heavy that not even light can escape from it. I don't think it's a planet, and it most certainly isn't a planet.

What's your evidence for that? What kind of research have you done, or whose evidence are you basing that claim on? What kind of qualifications do you have?If they want to say that's unhealthy, then everything, including living is unhealthy. Would you like me to quote you some studies showing that trans fats are always bad for your health (even eaten occasionally)?
Can you quote any studies showing that living is bad for your health? Has that claim ever even been studied?

Holy mother of shit you are annoying. That topic on black holes was months ago. And saying planet was simply my lack of trying to explain what I meant at the time. I know (And have known for a long time) damn well that black holes are not planets, that they don't revolve around a star. But when trying to think of a way to explain what I had just explained in my previous post, the first word that came to mind was 'planet.' So why don't you piss off and realize that a lot can change in months.Jeremy wrote:Switch Kicker wrote:I don't think it's a planet, and it most certainly isn't a planet.Source;Switch Kicker wrote:Blackholes are not, "holes." And what fucking studies are you talking about? It's common knowledge that a large majority of the tissue in the heart is not self repairable, and it's also common sense that when something is being moved around, rubbing against other things, such as a heart against other tissues in your chest, that friction WILL wear it down. So you can take your ignorant questions, and shove them promptly up your ass.
And you act as though you have any qualifications of any kind... Have you gone to college? If so, what did you study? What makes it so you can sit at your computer all day and study various things all day? Perhaps it could be that you're wasting your life doing absolutely nothing? You act like you're so fuckin' smart, and you seem to truly think that winning every debate on the internet is good, but it's not doing a damn thing for you, or anyone else, except wasting everyone's time, including your own. What is your contribution to YOUR society Jeremy? I don't know your age, but I severely doubt you're still in high school. Why do you have so much time to be on here making an ass out of yourself? Are you a bum living with your parents? What the deal?

Rice is the only exception to Asian food... Rice anything is good. All other Asian food is horrible. At least all other Asian food I've ever tried... and that's quite a bit seeing as my buddy Hoyvahn has 3 different Asian countries in his family. His big rice bin that sits in the middle of his living room is sooo good.Wu_ wrote:...I didn't go out today!! Even though my fridge is broke!!! ..

They don't say anything except that trans fat is unhealthy no matter what. And I responded agreeing to the statement, but then added that it can only be true given that just about everything in the world is unhealthy. And I've yet to see anyone argue that down. So unless you've come to offer proof that what I had just said is wrong, then mind your own business side-liner.Pirate Man wrote:Oh? You forgot to read any of Jeremy's posts?
