I don't know if this has been posted before, but I'd not seen it. I saw the original article that was published and posted here, so I thought others who'd read that too would like to see this. I found it through Steve:

He didn't get owned. He owned us. He posted a item comparing us to people who make fart noises with their hands, and then posted again making us look like immature idiots. Neither article makes footbag sound appealing. It goes to show that when footbag gets attacked in the media, it's better not to tell modified about it.

I agree.
I feel fortunate for us, though, that the second article that came out seemed to show some respect, even if "we" didn't really deserve it due to "our" outrages... I also remember some people specifically mentioning -- when the first article was posted -- that Modifiers shouldn't send hate mail to the journalist... So yeah, this kind of makes me ashamed of being part of these forums. Oh well. Footbag will probably always be mostly 14-18 year old boys, won't we? What can you do?

I think it's hard, because you go and read the topic;

http://www.modified.in/footbag/viewtopi ... 31&start=0

And all the first replies of what people sent were good. Some were certainly better than others, but none were noticeably immature or offensive to the level that the ones he published were.

I think the best solution is to not make those kinds of letter writing affairs public campaigns. I'm sure you know which footbaggers you would like writing letters in defence of the sport, and I think it would be advisable in the future to only let those people know, and forward on the details of this issue to them as well.

As far as we can tell, Scott may have only got 2 emails like that in his inbox; however it only takes 1 bad email to make footbag look bad. Stronger disclaimers about what to email would also be good.

As a point of trivia, I accidentally added Scott as a friend of facebook (because I imported my gmail contacts, which are basically everybody I've ever emailed on gmail), and somehow he came up. Too lazy/don't care about him enough to remove him though.

Even if it's supposed to read with my fixes, I still have no idea what you're talking about...

Don't worry too much Jeremy. I've known Ted for years, and I have know idea what he's talking about right now either. In fact, I have know idea what he's talking about almost half the time. :wink:

Thats just one of the things I love about Ted :twisted:
