I love how you put words in people's mouths. No one said these scientists were wrong. No one said that what they're saying is an absolute truth. Simply ideas. Go jump off a bridge, please.Jeremy wrote:Not according to the neurological science. But I'm sure you're right, and the people who have spent their lives studying it, have done the brain scan imagining etc. are all wrong. Well what Commodore wrote, and what those people I mentioned have written are completely contradictory, so if Commodore is right, Scott Atran, Lewis Wolpert, Jon Haidt etc. are wrong. Commodore said; "this is how the world is" - it's a strong statement, and it's contradicted by what those people say.
I also note that I didn't put any words into Commodore's mouth. I didn't say that he was saying that the scientists were wrong. I simply noted that what he was claiming was contradicted by the science.

Yes, you're sarcastically childish attitude doesn't suggest that you were accusing him of directly calling all those scientist's liars.Jeremy wrote:Not according to the neurological science. If what you say is true, and that you didn't mean to say that he was stating his ideas as absolute truths, and that he wasn't calling those scientists liars, then there was no need for your overly abusive post.
There's a difference between simply being wrong, and being ignorant. And you tried to make him out to be ignorant, when he was simply wrong.
Would you like me to make a suggestion for bridges to leap from? You seem to have some trouble choosing.

I think there is a pretty large cultural gap between Fred and I.
I don't understand the argument at all. You're claiming that he was wrong, not ignorant? But surely being ignorant means you don't know something? If you're wrong about something, then did you know the right answer? I don't understand.
